Review: "I dared the duke" by Anna Bennett

Author: Anna Bennett
Book 2 in series The wayward wallflowers
Main characters: Alexander Savage and Elizabeth Lacey

I voluntarily reviewed an early copy of this book :) this is the second novel in The wayward wallflowers series, but worry not if you haven't read the first one... cause I haven't either ;) and I absolutely loved this book :) the whole series is about three sisters, and all installments are available right now :) but again, you don't need any previous knowledge to enjoy this one... you get all the necessary informations in this book, and to be honest... the other two sisters are not in many scenes either way :) so let me tell you a bit more about our main couple and then why you all need to read this lovely gem :)

This is the story about Duke of Blackshire and his grandmother's companion... and before you roll your eyes at me... cause I know how that may sound ;) let me tell you some more ;) when I was recommending this story to a #BookBestie of mine, once she read the synopsis, she said that this novel grabbed my attention becasue the hero has scars... oh how well she knows me ;) I don't know what it is about them... or, to be honest, I know... ;) scarred hero gives me Beauty and the beast sort of vibes, and that's definitely my favourite trope in books :) not only that, but the heroine is a *wallflower* or to be more precise, she's perceived as one... and the opinion the society has about her is not exactly... a correct one :) I absolutely loved Elizabeth :) she was smart and witty and I just adored her ;) when it comes to the duke... I actually really liked him as well :) even though I wasn't the biggest fan of some decisions he made, I could totally understand his motives to keep certain details hidden... after all, it's not every day when your life is being threatened by some *accidents*... I don't want to get into too many details about all that, but don't worry, the whole situation is resolved and explained before the end of the book :)

This was the very first book by this author that I ever read... and it most definitely won't be the last one :) I absolutely fell in love with her writing style... it was one of those lovely, witty and seductive historical romances I am such a big fan of :) I'm always looking for more examples, and rarely can find one I can add to my list of go-to recommendations :) this one was definitely a winner ;) entertaining writng style? check :) complex and likable main couple? check :) witty banter? definitely check :) interesting story with a few surprises along the way? check :) see? it has everything :) *sighs happily* I inhaled this story very quickly, because not only the writing style was so good that I flew through the pages, but I also really wanted to know how everything will end :) and even though you don't need to read the previous book to enjoy this one, you will want to do it anyway... :) let's just say that the other two installments in this series are now very high on my wishlist to get... as are all other stories this author will publish :) if you are looking for a lovely story that will make you smile... and blush a little ;) definitely give this gem a try :) it will be worth it :)
