Review: "Simon vs the homo sapiens agenda" by Becky Albertalli

Main character: Simon

All the hype surrounding this book is true :) it was just... soooo... ugh! ;) I have troubles putting all my thoughts into words, but I adored this story ;) it was cute and sweet and gave me all the warm and fuzzy feelings :) it's not a very long book, and a lot of things I simply can't tell you because they would be too spoilerific, but I will try my best to tell you about the main character and the plot, and then explain some reasons, not all, cause I can't spoiler you, why I love this story :)

So about Simon... :) he's a junior in high school with a bunch of friends and a secret... he's gay and no one knows... well, no one besides Blue... and Blue is another student at that school... but they met online and they don't know each other true identities... they start exchanging e-mails and grow closer and closer to one another... all that is in danger, when one of Simon's e-mails gets intercepted by another student... who then blackmails him into helping him have a shot with one of Simon's friends... and then things get complicated after that... that's all I can say to you about the actual plot of the book :) it's better when you know less :) now that we have this little explanation out of the way, let me jump into all the praises I have for this story :)

I know I already said it, but I abso-freaking-lutely adored this book :) I am bursting with the want to tell you all the spoilers, but worry not... I can control myself ;) barely, but I can ;) I've had my eye on this story for quite a while now, but I finally decided to pick it up, because the movie comes out really soon, and I wanted to read the book before going to the movie theatre... :) and it was one of the best decisions I made recently... let's just say that after finishing this one, I immediately bought Becky's second book and pre-ordered the third one, that's how much I loved the writing style :) it was fun and entertaining and felt very honest and real... I connected so much to Simon, even though we seem so different at first glance ;) so definitely don't be discouraged thinking that since it's about a junior in high school, and it's been a while since you were like that, that you will be bored or something... my high school years are way behind me and I loved this story :) reading about Simon, his struggles and how he comes to terms with them... the interactions with his friends are fantastic... but I think my absolute favourite part are his e-mails with Blue... *sighs happily* I had my suspicions about Blue's true identity throughout the story... I am not gonna tell you if my assumptions were correct or not, bcause that also may give you some hints ;) so let's just say that I adored the ending :) now I am even more excited to see the movie, even though I have no idea what they might change... oh well, I can always re-read this absoulutely charming book whenever I want... and if you haven't before, I highly, highly recommend you guys to pick it up as well ;)
