Review: "Soulbound" by Bec McMaster

Author: Bec McMaster
Title: "Soulbound"
Book 3 in series Dark arts
Main characters: Sebastian and Cleo Montcalm

I got an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review :) this is the third and final installment in this phenomenal series, and long story short... I absolutely adored it :) of course I will get into some more details about the awesomeness of this story, and series, in general ;) but it's gonna be tricky, since all the books in it are very connected, and it's one of those series that you have to read in order to understand everything that is happening... :) so I will try and do my best to convince you all to give them a try, without spoiling some important stuff... :) or I will just leave certain spoilers about previous two books for one paragraph, so all of you who are new to it, can just skip that one ;)

So first of all, let me tell you a bit more about the whole series and the world it takes place in general :) it's happening in the first half of the nineteenth century in London, but in an alternate version of our world... with magic :) that's why I'm always saying it's a mix of fantasy and steampunk-ish vibes... and I love it :) well, if we're being totally honest I love all Bec's books, but that's a topic for a whole another discussion, so for now let us come back to my current review :) this is a trilogy where yes, each book concentrates on another couple, but like I mentioned before... they are all very much connected with this bigger story arch that spans all three books, so you have to read them in order, or you won't understand what is happening... yes, there are small reminders about certain events and characters, but it's more to help people who forgot some details because it's been months since they read the previous installments... :) let's just say that I was definitely very glad for them :) number three is also very significant when it comes to the overall story... we have three books, three magical relics and three... well... you'll see when you read the books :) I don't want to spoil you anything but let's just say there is a prophecy... and leave it at that ;) basically three relics are necessary to get rid of a very nasty demon that has some sinister plans for our world... :) now that we have some basic informations out of the way, let me tell you a bit more about this third installment in particular and then get into all the reasons why I loved it :)

First of all, I'm not gonna spoil you anything from this third book in my review... I need to say one thing, that happened between Cleo and Sebastian in the first book, that can be considered a mild spoiler, but on the other hand it's in the synopsis of this story, so make your own decision about reading this next sentence of my review :) I was curious about Sebastian and Cleo ever since I met them back in that first story... especially since they had to get married because of the deal their parents arranged... :) since then I just knew that theirs will be my favourite installment... and I was right :) Sebastian is one of my favourite types of heroes... raised on the wrong side of the conflict... morally grey, tormented by things he did in the past... thinking he doesn't deserve anything good... I just wanted to hug him :) Cleo is another one of those types that I adore in books... kind and strong... much stronger that everyone thinks, including herself ;) I love women like that... :) stories about them always empower me, making me feel like there are still qualities in me that I can discover... :) so after finishing Cleo's book I felt like I could conquer the world :) theirs was a relationship full of this push and pull sort of interactions... there was definitely something more, but Sebastian was resisting that attraction, thinking he will only hurt her... so seeing them finally get together was so lovely... :) usually I'm not a fan of these types of stories, but I knew that I can trust Bec and her magical ability to craft an amazing book ;) yet again... ;)

It was another easily given 5 stars rating... which is not really a surprise anymore, when you take into account the fact, that I recently realized that Bec McMaster is definitely one of my auto-buy authors :) she has several series, all of them different, and yet all of them amazing and wonderful and just... *sighs happily* :) her writing style just *clicks* for me... every story she creates, every character, every world... I swear you guys, they are so different from one another, and yet I can't help but love them all... :) this particular story is a truly phenomenal conclusion to the series... all big questions are answered... the big issues resolved, but... :) and you have no idea how excited I am about it... there will be a spin-off trilogy :) *squeels with excitement* :) revolving around some secondary characters we met in these books, and some new ones... and I am soooooo ready for it... especially since at the end of this story there is a little teaser to show us who will be the main couple.... and after learning that... let's just say I need that book ASAP ;) of course I'm not gonna spoil you that information here... ;) but trust me, it's sooo good... :) this absolute gem of a book is full of so many surprising twists and turns, that it will make you gasp in shock many times... ;) I love that we see so much of the previous couples, as well as some of my favourite secondary characters in this series... all those glimpses just made me want to re-read this whole series again :) so if you haven't already, I highly recommend you guy to read this book, and this whole series in general... :) there's no time better than now, since all three books are available, you can just marathon your way through them... :) *sighs dreamily* I am a little bit jealous that you get to experience the awesomeness of them for the first time ever... :) I honestly hope you will give them a try... and then we can fangirl together ;) happy reading :)

XOXO
