Books I can't wait to get my hands on ;) august edition

Hello my awesome people :) and no, I won't say yet again how fast this past month has gone by... see? I can still surprise you after all this time ;) ok, I am in a very good mood today... as in saturday when I am originally writing this post, because it's actually my birthday today :) so I am catching up on some blog stuff, because I've been super busy lately, and although I read quite a lot, mostly on the commute to and from work, I don't really have the time to write reviews... so I am doing just that today and then later on I have a reward waiting for me... an ARC of one of the books I'm gonna be talking about today... :) and speaking of books, I have three of them to talk about, so let's just get right on it :)

First, we have "Beard in mind" by Penny Reid, her newest addition in Winston brothers series... *sighs dreamily* this is the book I was talking about a moment ago... I was lucky enough to get an ARC of it, but worry not, it comes out very soon... and you guys... it's been killing me that I didn't have the time to read and truly appreciate it... like I mentioned, I was super busy lately with work and stuff, and I want to take my time with it... so I've been waiting the whole week and now I am dangling it in front of me as a reward to motivate me to catch up on posts / reviews... and then it's gonna be like an additional gift on this special day :) the previous book in this series "Beard science" was my favourite book of last year, so this sequel was one of my most highly anticipated books of this year... they can all be read as standalones, but I recommend to read them in order... mainly because they are all awesome and this way you can really see the change in certain interactions and relationships... if I will be able to read, and hopefully finish this book, I will add my super quick review here ;) ok, so I inhaled it and absolutely loved it... couldn't concentrate on anything else until I wrote my review, so if you want to know more, you can find it on my Goodreads account here -> READ ME <- :)

Another book I want to mention is actually another ARC :) "Chasing a legend" by Sarah Robinson is her new addition to Kavanagh legends series :) but again, even though it's a sequel, it can be read as a standalone as well :) and if we're being honest... I actually already read it :) and even though I am a huge fan of her writing style, and this series in particular, I wasn't the biggest fan of Kiera, the main heroine... don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the story, and Quinn was just amazing, but it wasn't my favourite installment in it :) but I still recommend it for you guys to check out :)

Last but not least, I want to talk about "Wonder Woman: warbringer" by Leigh Bardugo, which is the first installment in the new series DC Icons, that will consist of books about different characters from comic books, each of them written by someone else :) and since "Wonder Woman" was one of the best movies I've seen this year... and just in general... ;) and I enjoy Leigh's writing style, even though between me and you I only read the first Grisha book so far ;) but shhhh... ;) I am very curious to see what she will do with this character :) not to mention that I just think this whole idea is really cool :)

Random ramblings of a bookworm ;) #73

My life with Luna
Birthday weekend
Song of the moment

Hello my lovely people :) another week, another #RandomRamblings post and I once again cannot believe how fast it went by... :) I know, I know... what else is new ;) but one day I will write that this last week just dragged by and I thought it would never end and you all will be shocked ;) but that time is not today ;) so let's get into those headlines... this time, in order, because I have enough chaos in my life as it is ;)

If you have been following my blog lately, you may already know that, but I recently got a puppy :) her name is Luna and she is currently 2,5 months old :) she's a Westie (West Highland White Terrier) and I love her :) as promised last week I have a few pics of her for you :) so we got her about three weeks ago, and I can't believe how much she has grown in that time :) below I have for you two pictures I was able to find of her in the same place, so you can really see the difference :) one is from the weekend when we got her, so about three weeks ago, and the second one is from a few days ago :) look at all the cuteness :)

But definitely don't be fooled by her appearance :) she's very clever and feisty :) curious as hell, trying to squeeze everywhere :) we are affectionately calling her "psokot" which has two meanings: #1 it's a mix of words "pies" and "kot" which means dog and cat in my language :) but it's also very similar to the word "psocić" which means make mischief, and that suits her so well :) she loves to play with strings, she chews on everything and everyone and I am sooo hoping it's just a phase till all her teeth will come out... fingers crossed :) she runs after light, gets on our lap when she can... she loves when we pet her :) all in all sometimes it's tiring, but always entertaining as hell :) I absolutely adore her :) oh, and she sleeps in the weirdest poses ever :) twisting her body this way and that... xD I have a few pics to prove that :) the first one is from when we played with her, sorry for the bluriness, but it's the best I could do... she's freaking fast ;) the other three are of her when she sleeps or is about to fall asleep :) #TrueStory :)

This past saturday was my birthday :) thank you to all who send their wishes my way :) I appreciate them all :) I am now officially 31 :) since Luna was my gift, we... as in my family and me, decided that they wouldn't buy me anything else... but of course they lied, and got me a little something more :) I got a beautiful silver bracelet from my awesome sister J :) it's delicate, with three strings and small four leaves clovers on it in a few places :) and I got a few samples of tea and a gorgeous cup from my parents :) all teas are with fruits and / or flowers, they have a sweet smell, but not too obnoxious, and I can't wait to try them out :) the cup is wonderful... transparent, with colorful cherry trees on it... *sighs happily* I think I should post some pics to show you guys those things, but if we're being totally honest... I'm too lazy right now to take them ;) yeah, I know, I know... but don't judge me... it's like super hot but at the same time there's a storm coming so I am doing only things I need to do, cause I don't have the energy for anything else... I promise those pics will come in the future ;) anyway... :) I feel extremely blessed when it comes to my family :) all in all it was a lovely weekend that I spent catching up on blog-ish stuff but also relaxing with my family :) win-win situation if you ask me ;)

Last but not least I want to share with you guys the song that's been stuck in my head for the last couple of days... I don't know exactly why, and I have no logical explanation for it whatsoever, but I just cannot stop listening to it ;) so here it is for you guys ;)

That is a wrap people :) I hope you guys enjoyed my #RandomRamblings post, although I am pretty sure that the doggy pics are all that you needed ;) as always I love connecting with you, so be sure to leave a comment here, on my Facebook page or Goodreads account, and I will talk to you guys some more later ;)

Review: "A little bit like love" by Brooke Blaine

Author: Brooke Blaine
Book 1 in series South Haven
Main characters: Lucas Sullivan and Jackson Davenport

I got an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review :) I loved this book... absolutely adored it :) up until now, the only other work of the lovely Brooke that I was familiar with is the PresLocke series she co-wrote with Ella Frank... so I knew this one would be good as well... I just did not expect it to be this amazing :) definitely worth the wait :) especially since the release date have been postponed a bit... but like I said... totally worth it :) because you can see how much love and passion went into this story :) it's the first installment in her brand new series and I already can't wait to get my hands on more... ;) now that we have this little intro out of the way, let me tell you some more about our main couple :)

Lucas and Jackson... *sighs happily* I was a little bit afraid, that their story might be too angsty and filled with drama for my taste, but that was sooooo not the case :) we start the book at the very end of their last year of high school in an all boys Academy... we only get a small glimpse what happened and then we skip forward about eight years... and then slowly, throughout the book we figure what went between them at that time... :) but of course the majority of the story takes place *now* :) Lucas is an openly gay man, who doesn't really do relationships... he goes from one one-night-stand to another, never looking back... but there's more to his attitude, so give him time :) plus, you can't really be mad at him, because it's not like he's hiding his behaviour... his open and honest about everything from the start, so it's not really his fault if some men have expectations ;) he is confident, borderline arrogant ;) but I still loved him... there were some vulnerable scenes in this book, when I just wanted to hug him tight and never let go... Jackson on the other hand... *sighs* he's not really sure how to describe or identify himself... he only knows that what he felt for Lucas... he hasn't felt for anyone else... but his father is a whole different story... so when he's back in town to try and close a business deal, and he hears Lucas's name... yeah... he had to see him... from that moment we are going with them on a whirlwind of a story... that actually all takes place over the span of about a week :) and damn... it's a really good story :) yes, there's angst and some unresolved issues, but it's taken care of in a mature way... most of the time :) both Lucas and Jackson are not perfect... far from it ;)  but their flaws and mistakes they made, make them more real in my eyes... especially since they learn from them and grow as characters... :) I just loved their story so much... :) so much, that I don't really want to say anything else :) I want you all to be able to truly appreciate all of that without any spoilers whatsoever :) but trust me... it's awesome ;)

Since it's only the first book in a new series, we definitely have introductions of future main characters... in this case: Shaw and Bash :) both of them are friends with Lucas, and one of them is announced as the hero of the second book... coming hopefully this fall ;) #FingersCrossed ;) I'm not gonna tell you who it is, but worry not if it won't be your fave ;) I'm pretty sure that the other one will get book #3, so it's only a matter of time before we get all stories :) when it comes to me... I don't really have a preference between them :) there are definitely some mysteries when it comes to each of them, and I love them both, so the order of the books is not as important as the fact that there WILL BE books about them :)

It was a very easily given 5 stars :) I inhaled this book in record time, because I was just so curious about how it will go :) especially since it was written in 2 POVs, which means we got chapters from Lucas's perspective as well as Jackson's point of view :) and speaking about writing style in general... I'm in love :) after reading the series she co-wrote with Ella Frank I wasn't sure which one of them was more influential when it came to writing and if I will enjoy as much their individual work... and the answer to that is: yes, yes I will love it as much ;) this book was absolutely phenomenal... thier story broke my heart and then put it back together... I laughed and teared up and definitely had to fan myself more than once because it was sinfully hot ;) like.. damn... don't-read-it-in-public-places hot :) I highly recommend you guys to check out this fantastic book... it's definitely a #MustRead ;)

Random ramblings of a bookworm ;) #72

TV shows purge
New obsession
Have you seen THAT trailer?!?

Hello my awesome people :) can you believe another week has ended? because I can't... ;) they've been really passing me by in a blur lately... ;) because here we are... monday afternoon and I have nothing... ;) so obviously my time management skills need an adjustment... ok, ok... they suck ;) but it's a #WorkInProgress, ok? ;) so how about we just dive straight into those headlines... this time, in order ;)

So first of all, and it's actually really connected to my lack of time... I decided to stop watching a lot of TV shows... :) some of them I've been watching for years... *coughs* "Grey's anatomy" *coughs* and some of them were brand new discoveries... like "This is us" :) but ultimately I caught myself having months at a time breaks between episodes... and with my time limited more and more I decided it was THAT moment to make some tough decisions... sooo... I limited my TV shows to a single digit number ;) yeah... I'm actually pretty proud of myself :) sure, if I would not have a job... or this blog, I would probably watch all of them at some point... ;) but like I said... you have to make some tough choices and prioritize your life... otherwise it won't end well... being pulled in all the different directions never ends well... ok, that sounded way more serious than I inteded it to be... ;) anyway... back to the topic :) if we're being honest... most of the time I will choose reading a book over watching a show... it's definitely much easier with my crazy schedule... plus it will free up my time to enjoy some new finds... like my current obsession that is...

"Avatar the last airbender" :) yes... I do mean the animated TV show that was all the rage a while ago :) and believe me, no one is more surprised than me, by how much I am loving it :) after all, it's about such young characters, but... I don't know... there is something about it that makes me keep coming back to it :) especially since the episodes are short, and it's very easy to squeeze in 20 minutes here and there... :) if you haven't heard about it, I found a trailer online, and will leave it below :) I'm almost half way through the first season and can't wait to see what's gonna happen next :)

Last but not least, I wanted to share with you guys the latest "Thor ragnarok" trailer :) since it's time of the Comic Con in San Diego all sorts of awesome stuff started to appear online :) so of course I needed to share at least one of them with you :) and since this is one of my most highly anticipated movies of this year... here it is... for our enjoyment :)

Ok, that is a wrap you guys :) I promise to be a better blogger and write something more next week :) and I will definitely have some puppy pics to make up for everyting :) because my Luna is not so little anymore... I can't believe how much she's grown... but that's a subject for another #RandomRamblings :) as always, I love connecting to you guys, so be sure to leave me a comment here, on my Facebook page or Goodreads account :) talk to you later :)

Release blitz + Review: "Privileged" by Carrie Aarons

Author: Carrie Aarons
Title: "Privileged"
Main characters: Asher Frederick and Nora Randolph

In a world of wealth and power, the rules of love and war are nothing as they seem.

Nora Randolph never wanted a life of luxury. But when her mother falls in love with the heir to the British throne, their small-town lives are uprooted and every little girl’s fantasy becomes her reality. All too quickly, she learns the dangers of running in circles with the world’s elite, especially when she attracts the attention of Winston Academy’s resident golden boy.

Asher Frederick has known nothing but favor and fortune. The son of London’s most influential family, his future has been written in stone since infancy. But a tragic childhood loss redirects his course, and revenge has been boiling in his blood for years. When innocent and unaware Nora lands in his path, it’s as if the universe hands him the ammunition to finally drag his enemy through the mud.

But as his plan for vengeance gets more twisted, so do his feelings for Nora. And as her immersion into the upper crust dives deeper, she struggles to keep the secret she’s been guarding for eighteen years.

Heavy lies the crown, and when the ultimate betrayal blindsides her, will either of them survive the consequences that come crashing down on their heads?

I got an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review :) there were things I really liked about this story, but on the other hand there were a few issues I had as well... but all in all I have to say that it was an addicting read full of drama, angst and intrigue ;) it's a standalone, but I definitely see a lot of potential for possible future stories about certain secondary characters :) 4 solid and entertaining stars ;) so how about I will tell you a bit more about my thoughts and feelings about this book :)

I have to start with our main couple... Nora and Asher... usually I tend to stay away from *just* young adult stories... not that there's anything wrong with them, I just feel like I'm way to old to truly connect to such young characters... and no, I am not THAT old ;) turning 31 in a couple of days actually ;) but sometimes I feel like there is an abyss between me and people in high school ;) anyway... :) I don't mind as much when characters are younger in more fantasy-ish books or something like that, where there is more going on besides just the romance... but I decided to give this story a try, because I am a huge fan of Carrie and her writing style in general, and I am always willing to give one of her books a try :) so back to our main characters :) Nora is being thrown straight into a very unfamiliar situation... after her mother catches the eye of a british dignitary they move to London and she transfers schools... now a senior in a very elite Winston Academy, full of snobistic and egotistical teenagers, she needs to find her footing... which is not easy, when she's targeted by Asher... he has an agenda when it comes to her and her soon-to-be-stepfather... I don't want to go into too many details, but there is defintiely plan for revenge... ;) like I mentioned, I usually have lots of problems with such young characters... mainly because I can't relate to all the unnecessary angst and drama and all the usual miscommunication... and even though it DID appear in this book as well, I have to say that it was done actually really well... :) and yes, I am perfectly aware that I cannot expect from young adults to behave like adults, but since those are my personal preferences, I just want to be completely honest with you guys :) that's probably why I gave this book 4 stars... it was that kind of a read for me, but if you like those types of stories, you will love this one :) what I think about Nora and Asher? well... I liked her throughout the majority of the book... there were certain reactions toward the end that I wasn't the biggest fan of, but like I said... nobody is perfect ;) Asher on the other hand... well... he was a jerk... that is the nicest way I can describe him... and trust me, I have better words for him... I just can't share them in my review ;) yeah, he went through a bit of a character development in the story... but I think I would have liked him more with a few additional scenes showing that growth... I can't really explain it more, because it's all connected to his revenge plan and how he proceeds to trick Nora into falling for him... which is of course much more complicated than that, but again... due to my #NoSpoilers rule... I can't say more ;)

All in all I actually really enjoyed this story :) which was very surprising ;) it's written in 2 POVs, which means we got to see chapters from Nora's perspective, as well as Asher's :) and it's my favourite kind, so I was one happy reader ;) although there were a few moments when it felt like I missed a scene here and there... I had to check to make sure I haven't skipped a chapter or something ;) but maybe it was the late hour when I was finishing this book... we will never know... ;) even though it's a standalone, I see a few possibilities for stories, that I definitely wouldn't mind reading at some point in the future... something to think about ;) I liked the secondary characters in this book, especially Nora's mom :) it was a story filled with drama, angst, intrigue and secrets... very fast paced and supper addicting... it felt like an episode of "Gossip girl" and if we're being honest there was a time, when I was absolutely addicted to that show, sooooo... ;) if you are looking for a quick and entertaining summer read, I highly recommend you guys to check out this one :) it will keep you glued to the pages and curious to see how it all ends ;)

Review: "Deadly games" by Lindsay Buroker

Book 3 in series The emperor's edge
Main character: Amaranthe Lokdon

This series just keeps getting better and better... :) *sighs happily* I feel like I need to start my review with once again thanking one of my #BookBesties for recommending me this amazing series in the first place :) so thank you Karen ;) be prepared to hear it every single time I finish one of the installments ;) but back to our story ;) it's book #3 in a series that I highly recommend you to read in order... even though all of them follow around the same cast of characters and each of them revolves around a certain event and stuff... I know, it's super vague, but I don't want to spoil you anything accidentally ;) there are a lot of important stuff you need to know from previous stories before going into each new one... plus, they are all just so awesome, that reading all of them is not a chore ;) and again, since it's one of the middle books in a bigger series, it's gonna be hard to say how I felt about it without giving away too much, but as always I will do my best :) so let me start by saying a bit more about the overall plot and our main character :)

This story, as well as the previous ones, takes place in the Turgonian empire... after writing that I am sitting here thinking if I remember the name correctly, but to be honest I am too lazy to get up and check it, so if I made a spelling mistake, we are all just gonna move on... ;) anyway... :) it's this absolutely amazing fantasy / steampunk world that I am dying to know more about... :) but the best part of this story, as well as all previous ones, are the characters... specifically... Amaranthe :) I know that all of you people who read these books already, expected me to say Sicarius, but I will get to him in a second... *sighs dreamily over the mysterious assassin* I'm sorry, where was I??? oh, right... ;) back to Amaranthe :) she used to be an Enforcer, sort of like police in that world, but then some things happened, some missunderstandings occured and... she's not anymore... she is actually on the exact opposite side of the law now :) it's not like she *wants* to be there, but the current circumstances are what they are... ;) she's working on getting to the right side of the law, but it's a process :) I absolutely love her :) she's hilarious, resourceful and care a lot about her band of misfits... because Amaranthe does not work alone... oh no, there is a team... and what a team it is... :) I won't name everyone, even though they are a very colorful bunch, but in case you are new to this series, the identity of some of the members is not revealed until the end of the first book, so I don't want to spoil you stuff... but I have to... I just have to... say a sentence or two about Sicarius... *sighs dreamily* give me a moment... *at least ten minutes later* ok, get a grip woman... I would say that I'm sorry for taking a break, but it would be a lie... ;) I just love Sicarius so much... which is a bit ridiculous, when you think about how little I actually know about him... and, you know, the fact that he is a fictional character ;) but that is a topic for a whole another discussion :) but even though we know so little about him, those scenes he's in... he is the epitome of a mysterious assassin... he doesn't talk much, but once he opens his mouth... you guys... there was a scene towards the very end of the book... I'm not gonna tell you who exactly besides Sicarius was in it... but I read it like three times in a row, because it was sooo good :)

It was yet another easily given 5 stars :) I had so much fun reading this action packed, surprising twists filled story with entertaining and hilarious writing style... I swear you guys, the banter between those band of misfits is freaking fantastic... ;) I always laugh out loud when I read it, and it constantly surprises me in the best possible way... :) since I have breaks between each installments to read other stories, I am always able to convince myself that those books cannot possibly be as good as I remember them... and then I read another one and BAM! :) I'm reminded just how awesome they are :) I already can't wait to see what's gonna happen in book #4 because that last chapter... that ending... damn... ;) and I should already mentally prepare myself, because I heard that the endings of other books are even more cliffhangery... yes, that is totally a word... ;) if you haven't already, be sure to pick this book, or the first one if you are completely new to this series :) and prepare to laugh hard and awwwww in the most surprising places... ;) you can thank me later ;)

Review: "The hot shot" by Kristen Callihan

Book 4 in series Game on
Main characters: Finnegan "Finn" Mannus and Chester "Chess" Copper

I have some mixed feelings about this story... don't get me wrong, I still enjoeyd it plenty, after all this is written by Kristen Callihan :) but there were just some things that stood in the way of me giving this story five stars... so I decided to just trust my instinct and rate it four stars :) it's still gonna be a positive review and I still highly recommend you to give this book a try... I think my problems were connected to my personal preferences as a reader... but I will get to that in a minute :) for now, you need to know that even though it's book #4 in Game on series, it can be read as a standalone ;) you get all the necessary informations to follow the story between our main couple, although I do feel the need to warn you about some spoilers regarding the third book in this sereis... since it and this one takes place in about the same time frame, you will be spoiled about certain events from that previous book... just saying ;) anyway... ;) now that we have this little explanation out of the way, let us jump straight into our main couple :)

Since I loved Finn that much more... I'm gonna start with Chess :) I don't know why, but I just couldn't connect with her... some of the decisions she made along the way... yeah, on the one hand I sort of could understand where she was coming from, but on the other hand I just wanted to shake her up and make her see the truth... :) although I have to admit that I liked her throughout the majority of the story :) she was one strong and sassy lady, she did not let anyone boss her around :) but like I said, there was just something that kept bothering me about her... I can't really explain it better, so we are just gonna move on... ;) because as much as I adore this series, there is always something that don't click for me with the heroines... heroes on the other hand... *sighs dreamily* they always surprise me in the best possible way... :) like with Finn... when I started this book, I did not expect to fell in love with him as much as I did, but it happened anyway... he snuck up on me with his swoonworthiness... yes, it's a word... that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it ;) and charm... ;) it took a while to see his more vulnerable side but once I got a glimpse... damn... *sighs happily* there is a reason why I love all of them... and Finn is no exception :) and let me tell you about the way they met... ;) Chess is a photographer and she was taking pics for the nude charity calendar of... you guessed it, Finn's football team :) yes, it was as hilarious and hot as you are probably imagining right now :) theirs was definitely a relationship / story that I discovered I adore the most... as in, they started out as friends... yes, friends who are attracted to one another, but just friends nonetheless :) and with time it grew into something more... :) I don't want to say too much about it, because it's really better going into their book without the knowledge about every little thing that happens along the way... it will be much better if those little precious moments will surprise you :) I adored their journey... well, the most of it anyway... I was not the biggest fan of how they handled that big obstacle closer to the end of the book, but that may be just me and my personal preferences as a reader... and no, I cannot tell you anything more, because that would definitely be too spoilerific :)

When it comes to secondary characters, we got appearances of the hero from the previous story :) mainly because he's Finn's teammate :) as well as a little glimpse or two about certain previous characters as well ;) but like I said before, this story can totally stand on its own, so feel free to start with this one, if it will interest you the most :) besides the people we already may know, I need to name two others :) James and Jake :) James is Chess's best friend and co-worker :) and I loved him... which is why I'm very excited that he got his very own little plot in this book... :) and Jake is on the other hand Finn's best friend and teammate... and let me tell you... I love this guy :) I'm totally crossing my fingers so he will get his own story at some point in this series... maybe even the next one ;) although there is much more potential for other books about people we met here... and in previous books... GAH!!! so many possible awesome stories :) we're just gonna have to wait and see what Kristen will give us next :)

Like I mentioned before, even though I had my troubles with this book, I really enjoyed it :) I am a huge fan of Kristen Callihan and her writing style :) especially when it is done in 2 POVs, like here ;) as in we get chapters from two different perspectives :) you know... the hero and the heroine of the story :) I love to be able to glimpse into their heads, to see their thought process and how they feel... :) especially when it is done as amazing as here :) see, even when Chess annoyed me, the fact that I was able to see into her head helped me understand her better :) and don't even get me started on Finn... *sighs happily* he surprised me in the best possible way... there is much more to him than his cocky and carefree personality that he shows to the world... oh just you wait and see... :) so if you are looking for a hot and hilarious sports themed romance, definitely give this book, and this series in general, a try ;) you will not regret it :)

Random ramblings of a bookworm ;) #71

Challenging week
New movie to wait for
Uuummmm... that's it ;)

Hello my lovely people :) this post is definitely gonna be much, much shorter than the one from last week ;) it's all connected to the headlines you see above so how about I'll go straight into them and explain everything, and if you are in the mood to read more, check out some other posts on my blog... there are plenty to choose from ;)

So first I'm gonna combine headlines #1 and #3 :) because what a week I had... ;) crazy busy at work and crazy for other reasons at home ;) if you missed my last #RandomRamblings post, I have a puppy at home :) a beautiful 2-month-old Westie named Luna... I love her to pieces but let's not forget, that there is a lot of work around her... and before you start judging me and all, trust me.. I'm not complaining... it was a very thought over decision and I knew perfectly well what I was signing for... and for every moment when I am tired of teaching her for the X time to NOT chew on my finger or something like that... when I am frustrated but doing my best to not show it... there are moments when she will come to me when I am reading and curl around my feet on the floor, and go to sleep :) trust me, it's totally worth it :) but she absorbs a lot of my time at home ;) and when it comes to work... *sighs* last week was the one before my bosses went on vacation... I know what you're thinking... that now I will have a break, before they come back... oh, how wrong you are... I have a list longer than me of things to prepare while they are gone, in addition to my usual load plus doing stuff for people who are on vacation / medical leave and such... yeah... so that is why I don't have a lot to talk about today... :) I have some ideas for stuff I want to prepare for future #RandomRamblings posts, but honestly? I don't have the time OR energy to do it now... so I'm giving myself a break from all that this week ;)

Now that we have this little explanation out of the way, let me tell you about a movie that very surprisingly made it's way on my #Wishlist ;) "Jumanji 2" :) yes, I kid you not :) I've heard for months stuff about this movie, but it wasn't until I saw the trailer, that I've become very interested in watching it :) so if you missed it before, be sure to check it out ;) I have it for you below :)

Ok, that's a wrap :) told ya it's gonna be a short one ;) ok, I'm off to try and relax... maybe play and NOT loose my fingers with Luna and then maybe later I will even be able to squeeze in a chapter or two of a really good book ;) as always, I love connecting with you guys, so be sure to leave me a comment here, on my Facebook page or Goodreads account and I will talk with you later ;)

Review: "Hello forever" by Sarina Bowen

Author: Sarina Bowen
Main characters: Axel Armitage and Caxton "Cax" Williams

I got an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review :) once again Sarina Bowen wowed me with her story :) I am just a sucker for her writing style... it gets me every time :) especially since she has a beautiful talent of mixing up some hilarious themes with much more serious ones... most of the times, I laugh AND cry during one of her books :) this particular story was actually published under a different title and pseudonym a while ago... but I never heard of it, until recently :) and missing out on this wonderful story would be such a shame :) this is theoretically a second book in a series, but it can be read as a standalone... I will explain everything a bit more later :) because for now, I want to tell you a bit about our main couple :)

Axel and Cax... once again I absolutely fell in love with both main characters... :) Sarina just really knows how to write them... ;) they've been friends since they were young, until one summer... at a church camp no less, when they were caught kissing... and since both of them have very different family situations, well... it didn't really end well... fast forward to about six years later... they had zero contact in the meantime... until one night Axel, while pondering a job offer from a university, watches online a basketball game of their team... and he sees Cax in the audience... that is the final argument in the plus column for him to take the job ;) once he gets there and sees him for the first time after that very long time... well, I don't really want to say too much about their relationship, because once you understand two very different situations they are in, you will get it... Axel is an openly gay man... he has an amazing mom, who supports him... Cax on the other hand is a whole another story... raised by a horrible and homophobic father, with three younger brothers still living with said father that he needs to think about, his situation is much more serious and complicated... but you know? all those obstacles make their happy ending that much more beautiful :) again, I don't want to get into specifics, because it will be much better if you discover everything like I did, along the way... :) but what I can say, is that it was absolutely heartbreaking and yet heartwarming at the same time... see? I told ya about Sarina's writing style... it's magic ;)

Like I mentioned before in this review, this is book #2 but the only way it's connected to the first one is this: Caleb and Josh, the main couple from it, are Axel's landlords in this one ;) so they appear in a few scenes, and that's such a lovely bonus, but you don't need to know their story to enjoy this one and vice versa ;) although I highly recommend for you guys to read both of them, in whatever order you want :) besides our main couple, we got another few fantastic characters :) there were Caleb, Josh and Axel's mom, who I mentioned before ;) but there are three more I want to tell you about :) we have Boz, Axel's co-worker :) his reaction to Axel's being gay is priceless :) in the best way :) there's also Amy, Cax's friend and "girlfriend" for the world to see... don't judge him for that... she is aware of the whole situation and is actually helping him a lot... and then we have Jason... there is one scene, closer to the end of the book... that makes me think that maybe... just maybe... we will have another book in this series some time in the future ;) and all I can say for that is... fingers crossed ;)

I have to say that I absolutely adored this book :) another easily given 5 stars :) but to be honest, now I expect nothing less from Sarina... and she always delivers ;) with wonderful stories that hit you in all the feels, great characters, that you can't help but fall in love with and the writing style that keeps you glued to the pages every time ;) this particular book was once again written in 2 POVs, which means we got chapters from Axel's perspective, as well as Cax's ;) and you should know by now that this is my favourite writing style ever ;) to be able to glimpse inside the heads of both our main characters, see what drives them... *sighs happily* I very highly recommend you guys to check out this book and this series in general... :) and if you are not a fan of MM stories... no judgement here, then definitely give some of her other books a try... she has plenty to choose from ;)

Review: "Nyles" by Kat Brewer

Author: Kat Brewer
Title: "Nyles"
Book 1 in series Portal's gift
Main characters: Nyles and Reggie

I got an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review :) this is the first story in a companion series to The chronicles of Erla... and I highly recommend you guys to read that original series first, because those books will definitely help you understand the whole world and all the rules that much better... plus, all the main heroes from this new series... we already met them before :) so it helps to have all that backstory before going into this one :) ok, since this particular book was somewhere between a novella and a full lenght story, there is not much that I can tell you without spoilers... :) but I will try my best :) that's also the reason why this review will be shorter than I usually write... basically, I will tell you a bit more about the premise of this story and the world it is set in, and then share some overall thoughts and feelings... that is the only way to do it without spoilers... ok, so let's just jump right in :)

This book, as well as all others from the original series, concentrates around a woman who is transported from Earth, through a transdimensional rift, into the world of Jiva... *sighs* I know how that sounds, so don't roll your eyes at me... and don't dismiss it, before you try it :) I took a chance a while back and absolutely fell in love with the characters created by the lovely Kat :) the world of Jiva is filled with kingdoms and queendoms, and as the name suggests, in different countries, different sexes are more dominant... I can't really say anything else about them, because trust me... in that original series A LOT of stuff happens... :) and quite a few things changes... :) this particular story follows Nyles, the king of Serlenn, and a new portal traveler... and when I heard that we will finally get a happy ending for him I was thrilled... :) he was one of my favourite secondary characters in the original series and I really wanted to see the woman who will steal his heart... :) the wait was worth it :) it was an absolutely adorable story, with some very surprising twists... but since it's a shorter one, that's pretty much all I can say :) now on to my opinion about it :)

I gave this particular story 4,5 stars :) I enjoyed it, and there is a small surprise near the end... an additional novella :) and that cute little gem was really lovely :) another wonderful surprise :) it told the story about a secondary character from "Nyles" :) and I was very surprised by how quickly I fell in love with the main characters from that novella... ;) but back to the main topic of this review :) like I said, because Nyles was an utterly charming man I loved for the longest time, I was very happy to see him with a woman, who chose him... and Reggie was... not what I expected :) but yet again she was someone who sneakily stole my heart ;) #NoRegrets :) theirs was a lovely and charming story, and I already can't wait to go back to this world, to see what sorts of adventures and happy endings Kat planned for the rest of the men... ;) definitely give it a try :)

Release blitz: "Jilted" by Sawyer Bennett

Eden Goodnight went to Los Angeles to make it big, not to be publicly humiliated by her cheating fiancé at a red-carpet premiere. But when Eden returns to her hometown to put the scandal behind her, she can barely find a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Turns out the locals are worse than the paparazzi, and they all think she’s turned into a spoiled brat. But in a strange twist of fate, the one person who seems to understand what Eden’s going through is Cooper Mayfield . . . the boy she left behind.

Small-town charm is no match for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. At least that’s what Coop’s been telling himself all these years. As Eden’s old flame—and the landscaper for her family’s historic home—Coop feels some responsibility for getting her out of her funk. But as soon as he sees that million-dollar smile, he’s a goner. Soon they’re making out like teenagers again. But when a life-changing role falls into Eden’s lap, Coop just hopes she doesn’t give up on a love that’s meant to be.

About the author:

Since the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released more than 30 books and has been featured on both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists on multiple occasions.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.

Random ramblings of a bookworm ;) #70

Disappointment that is the new Transformers movie
My biggest book haul so far
Meet Luna

Hello my awesome people :) oh, I have sooooo many things to talk to you about ;) first and foremost, I can FINALLY share this mysterious stuff that I've been hinting at for the longest time now... and of course I will leave it for the very end of this post ;) but wait, don't skip anything, cause there are other exciting things to share ;) and some sarcastic ones, so stay tuned ;) this week we are gonna go with the order of those headlines ;) because why not? :)

So the first thing I want to talk about is the new Transformers movie... I saw it last week and... it was pretty awful... don't get me wrong, if you saw it and loved it, good for you :) I'm honestly happy for you... but you might want to avert your eyes... ;) I remember reading somewhere that this movie makes you dumber... and that is exactly how I felt after I left the movie theatre... ;) ok, yes... there were a few things I liked... #1 Josh Duhamel ;) and it's not like he played a mayor part in the actual story, I just like his character... and his not bad to look at,ok? ;) #2 the dragon :) again, gone way too soon... ;) #3 tiny dinobot thingies :) and... that's it... that's all I enjoyed... I was bored out of my mind during the majority of the story... I mean, the plot... if you can even call it that, was all over the place... you could easily cut out a good 40 minutes out of the 150 (!!!) and it wouldn't make much of a difference... *sighs* yes, there were some funny moments, but there were few and far in between... I honestly should have just gone to see "King Arthur legend of the sword" yet again... ;) which I did for the third time last week as well :) #NoShame ;) I'm gonna leave you trailers for both movies below, but if you have the time to see just one, please go see the second one :)

Ok people, are you ready for the biggest book haul I have ever done? :) I've been teasing you guys for a few weeks already, but it's finally here :) all of the books finally came, so be sure to have a comfy seat and something to drink / eat, cause I have 31 books to show you guys... yep... it's gonna be a long one :) the majority of them are brand new, or I read them previously but remember nothing so it's like they are new to me ;) like I mentioned before, after getting this huge haul, I am giving myself a longer break from book buying... up to this point, for the last year, I had a monthly book budget, and I have so many books to show you guys today, because I combined my june and july budgets together, plus july is my birthday month, so some of those books are just presents from me to myself ;) but I currently have 40+ unread books on my shelves and a huge amount of e-books and ARCs on my kindle to read, so I figured it's a good time to take a break from buying anything else :) don't get me wrong, if something truly awesome will come out, or I will find something amazing, I will get it, but it definitely will be a long time before I will do another book haul :) so without further ado, let us jump into all the books I got :)

This is gonna be in random order, so don't expect any theme or logic whatsoever :) the first series I want to show you guys is A court of thorns and roses by Sarah J. Maas :) I read the first book more than a year ago and I remember basically nothing... :) I was curious about it, so I checked it out a few weeks before the sequel camer out... then I didn't have time to get into the second book when it got published, and once I heard how big #BookHangovers people had after reading that amazing sequel I decided to just wait for the last installment ;) so here we are now :) I'm definitely gonna have to reread the first book to get into the story again, but since I really enjoyed it the first time around, and I heard that the sequels are even better, I can't wait to see what's gonna happen... especially since I heard a thing or two about where certain interactions between certain people are heading and I wholeheartedly approve ;)

Next series I want to share with you guys is The bird and the sword chronicles by Amy Harmon :) the story of me discovering this series is actually really sweet :) people in one of the Facebook group I am a part of kept saying nothing but amazing things about this author and those books in particular... since I am a huge fan of fantasy stories, I am always on the lookout for unique books... so I decided to download an Amazon e-book sample... I read the prologue of that very first book and then promptly fell in love with the enchanting and mesmerizing writing style and ordered both of them straight away :) the first installment in this series is at the top of my priority list of books I want to read next :)

I very rarely buy books by completely new to me authors... but I've been hearing nothing but praises from sources I trust completely about "When Dimple met Rishi" by Sandhya Menon :) the most common adjectives used to describe it were: cute, adorable, funny... *sighs dreamily* yes, it's a YA romance, but sometimes a girl just wants something nice to read... without the drama and such, so I'm hoping this will be just the type of a book for summer :) or, you know, when you want something cute in general ;)

I also got the newest addition in the In death series by J. D. Robb :) well, newest for me, cause I am still a few books behind... :) I swear, if the time comes that I am finally up to speed with this series I will be shocked ;) shocked, I tell ya!! ;) I wanted to go back to reading about Eve for the longest time, so I'm hoping that the actual physical copy on my shelf will give me the motivation to pick it up soon :)

Another standalone story I have is "Furthermore" by Tahereh Mafi :) I am a huge fan of her whimsical writing style, so even though this is a middle grade book, or so I've heard ;) I want to have it :) there will be a companion novel set in this world in the future, but for now, I want to check out this beautiful fantasy story, because I've heard nothing but praises so far :)

Can we take a moment to appreciate how absolutely stunning is the cover of "Queens of geek" by Jen Wilde? :) I'm not gonna lie, that's the first thing that caught my attention... but then I started hearing about how amazing this book is, how diverse and different it feels... and I was sold :) I want to start branching out a little bit with my reading tastes and I'm thinking this one is a great start :)

Since it's my birthday month, I decided to gave myself some presents ;) sooooo... I completed two series by one of my all time favourite authors ever, Nalini Singh :) first, we have her urban fantasy one, Guild hunter :) it has angels, vampires, action, surprising twists and all that... :) super entertaining reads :) and now I have all of them on my shelf *sighs happily* look at those pretty covers... :)

And if that wasn't enough, I got me the remaining installments in her Psy-changeling series as well :) this is one of my all time favourite series ever... with different races and quite a few of my all time favourite couples in it, I have a feeling that now that I have all of them on my shelves the itch to re-read them will only get worse... ;) oh well... I guess I'm just gonna have to slowly make my way through them... ;)

Now we're getting to another author who I adore... Rick Riordan... :) although if we're being honest, I read only a couple of books by him, I always wanted to go back and read more... :) let me explain :) I read the first two books in his Percy Jackson and the olympians series years ago and in translation... I remember that I started the third one as well, but fot the life of me, I can't remember if I finished it... ;) so I figured that since I want to go back and discover the hilarious and entertaining adventures he wrote, I'll just go and buy the box set... :) and here it is...

But of course knowing me, I just couldn't stop there... so of course I had to purchased the sequel series, The heroes of Olympus as well... ;) #NoShame ;)

And the two available as of this moment books in his newest series set in that world, The trials of Apollo... ;) it was this series that initially sparked my attention... :) I've heard only amazing things about it, but also that you need to be caught up on the previous stories if you don't want to be spoiled for some major surprises... and I don't want to be spoiled :) in fact, I am very eagerly looking forward to going back into this fun world, especially now, that I will be reading them all in the original version... if I will fall in love with his writing style again... and I predict it will happen, expect to see his other books in my next haul... ;)

The one before last book I want to mention is book #4 in Temptation series by Ella Frank :) I only read the first one so far, but loved it :) aaaaaand my sister tells me that it's the worst one in the whole series soooo... things will only get better... plus, that cover definitely doesn't hurt either... ;) *swoons*

Last but definitely not least is "The hating game" by Sally Thorne :) another recommendation I found in the Facebook group who recommended me The bird and the sword chronicles I mentioned above :) I swear, those guys throw the best books my way :) since I was waiting quite a while for all of the books to arrive, and this one was at the top of the books I wanted to read... well... I am actually currently making my way through it :) loving it so far, by the way ;) keep your eyes open for a review soon-ish ;)

Now prepare thyselves to see all five of my shelves... yes... five, because there was just no way for me to fit all of them on just the four... trust me... I tried ;) so here's how true happiness looks like... at least for me ;)

Don't worry, since I know you can't really see anything on that particular pic, I have some close-ups for you as well :) first, the top two shelves... my paranormal / fantasy heaven... *sighs happily* I already don't have a lot of room left there, which is a shame, cause the majority of my #Wishlist is from those genres... ;) oh well, something to worry about later ;)

Next we have my contemporary shelves :) which is a very eclectic mix alltogether :)

And last but definitely not least, my historical shelf... :) it's the smallest one so far, but do not be mistaken... some of my all time favourite books are there :)

Ok, are you guys ready to finally know what I've been teasing you about all this time? :) I think we are gonna start with some pics, and then I will tell you a story... ;) although it will be hard to concentrate after you see her... you don't think it's gonna be that hard? yeah... trust me... ;) and just look :)

Her name is Luna and we picked her up on friday :) she's almost two months old and she's a Westie (West Highland White Terrier) I already love her to pieces :) we had a dog years ago, but when she died, it was a very traumatic event for all of us... it took a few years, but a while ago, I started to get an itch... an itch to have another dog :) it was even one of my resolutions this year :) and a few weeks ago, while we were on vacation and had a little bit more time to think ;) it happened :) we found her, and then it was just a matter of time to wait a few weeks till she's big enough to come home with us :) definitely expect a lot more about her in the future, because she will be a big part of my life, but what I can tell so far... don't be fooled by her innocent looks ;) this is one clever and feisty lady :)

That is a wrap you guys... ;) are you all still with me? ;) I hope you are, and you didn't left halfway through the post, because you got bored... ;) ok, now I'm off to play with Luna, but remember, I love connecting with you guys, so be sure to leave me a comment or contact me another way, here, on my Facebook page or Goodreads account ;) talk to you soon ;)
