Books I can't wait to get my hands on ;) may edition

Well hello there my awesome people :) I will surprise you this time and I will not say how shocked I am that yet another month has gone by... ;) nope, you won't hear that from me today :) instead I'm gonna share my joy with you about the upcoming books I can't wait to read... and I am super excited to say that three out of the five I'm mentioning today are already on my kindle :) I was very lucky this month when it comes to ARCs :)

So the very first book I want to talk about is "Dating-ish" by one of my all time favourite authors: Penny Reid :) it's book #6 in her Knitting in the city series, but all those contemporary romances can be read as standalones... although personally I would recommend to read them in order just because all those different interactions between characters will be soooo much better that way :) this is the ARC I am most excited about :) *squeels with joy* <- this is my reaction every time I think about it being on my kindle... why I haven't read it yet, you ask? trust me, it's first on my list just as I get through a few others with deadlines in the upcoming weeks :)

Another great story I can't wait to dive into is "Pipe dreams" by Sarina Bowen, book #3 in her Brooklyn Bruisers series :) this sports themed romance is definitely high on my radar, cause I loved the previous two in this series :) especially since I am absolutely dying to see Lauren as the heroine of her own story... we've met her before and I am soooo curious, because I didn't really liked her... :) she seemed cold and distant, but on the other hand, usually there are the best stories behind that sort of attitude... :) fortunately it comes out at the begnning of may, so you can guess how fast it will go on my next book-buying-binge :)

I can only imagine that this one is highly anticipated by a lot of people... ;) "A court of wings and ruin" is book #3 and the conclusion to A court of thorns and roses series by Sarah J. Maas :) I am not gonna get into what this book is about, cause I have a better story for you... ;) I still haven't read "A court of mist and fury" *cue the gasps and the dramatic clutching of chests* ;) yeah... why, you ask? oh I'll tell ya :) I read the first book last year, about a couple of weeks before the sequel came out... it's been on my radar for the longest time, but I figured I'll wait, so that I could jump straight into book #2 if I would love it :) and I did love it :) but soon after I finished it, I had to get into reading all sorts of ARCs I had, and a month or two passed before I knew what was happening... by that time I started to hear some things about that sequel... miraculously, not spoilers :) just that it's even better than the first book and that it gives people major book hangovers... and I didn't have time for all that... ;) plus, I knew I would have to wait another year for the conclusion... so the weeks just kept passing by and I haven't read it... and now that book #3 is coming out, I think I will wait for reviews and check if it's gonna be as awesome as I hope, and if that will be the case... and I'm pretty sure it will be ;) I'll just buy the whole trilogy in paperback and get to reading it from the start... cause I remember soooo little from that first story :)

One before last is "Sex in the sticks" by Sawyer Bennett, beginning of her new series of standalones, Love hurts :) and if we're being totally honest, it's another ARC I already have... in fact, I finished it earlier this week :) and really liked it :) it was hilarious, entertaining and a super quick read ;) more thoughts in my full review, but long story short, I definitely recommend it ;)

The last one I want to tell you guys about today is "Nudes" by Sarah Robinson :) her newest standalone :) I mean... just look at that stunning cover :) this one is the last ARC I mentioned at the beginning, and I am always super excited to get Sarah's stories, cause I am a huge fan of her writing style... it's emotional and pulls you in from the start and if were being totally honest... it doesn't really matter what the book is about, at this point I trust her so much, that I will always give it a try ;) yes, some of her stories I love a bit more and some a bit less, but they are all exceptional... :)

Review: "Box of hearts" by Nikki Ashton

Author: Nikki Ashton
Book 1 in series The Connor's
Main characters: Jesse Connor and Armalita "Millie" Braithwaite

Millie is unlucky in love and when her long term relationship ends like a soap opera story line, she takes drastic action.  She applies for an overseas job as home school teacher on an American family Ranch and finds herself instantly attracted to Jesse-her boss.  As for Jesse, well he doesn’t need her getting in his business and constantly reminding him that he neglects his daughter.

In Jesse Connor’s eyes his life would be simple if it consisted of three things.  His ranch, his cattle and his horses.  But it doesn’t- for one, there’s his young daughter, Adeline, who is fighting for his love and attention because he’s the only parent she has.  Then there is Millie Braithwaite-that damn beautiful English woman.

Millie & Jesse are two broken souls who are both fighting against the inevitable, because they both know that this time their hearts could be shattered beyond repair.

Box of Hearts is the first book in the Connor Ranch series and tells the story of second chance love and the joy and sorrow it can bring.

I got an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review :) this was my second story by this lovely author and I have to say that her writing style is as hilarious as I remembered it from that first book ;) this one was also very entertaining and fast-paced :) was it perfect? not really, but I had sooo much fun reading it anyway :) it's the beginning of a series, but worry not, the whole situation with our main couple is resolved :) so how about I will tell you all about the things I loved about this story, and a few of them that bothered me a little ;) don't get me wrong, ultimately it's a 4 stars read for me and I can honestly recommend you to give it a try ;)

I need to start by telling you a bit more about our main couple :) and by that I mean I have to start with Millie :) oh how I loved her ;) she was so sassy and hilarious :) which is truly astounding especially after you take into consideration that her last relationship ended in a truly spectacular way... and I don't mean that in a good way... don't worry, it's nothing tragic :) so after deciding that she needed a change, she became a home school teacher to a young girl on another continent :) more about that little angel in a second ;) and of course she develops a huge crush on that girl's dad... what I loved about it, is that she openly admits to herself how unlogical and crazy is her instant attraction to him, but there's nothing she can do about it :) now about Jesse... yeah... I had some issues with him... throughout a big part of the book his behaviour was definitely leaning towards... how to put it mildly without cursing... ;) he was a jerk... and yes, once you know the whole story about why he is a single dad now, it helps you to understand him better, but I am not really a fan of this type of personality... in his defense there were certainly some very swoonworthy moments as well... ;)

Their relationship is actually one of the things I struggled with... there is a lot of push-and-pull between them... attraction and chemistry is off the charts, but at the same time there is also this whole we-cannot-be-doing-this attitude... and when it comes to my personal preferences as a reader, I don't like those types of interactions... don't get me wrong, I'm sure that a lot of you guys will have no problems with it... some people love the angst and the drama... I'm just not one of them :) but there were some really wonderful moments between them that I loved, so it wasn't only the struggles... ;) especially since it actually takes some time for them to get together... the book takes place over the span of a few months to be exact :) and I definitely loved watching how Millie starts to feel more comfortable and grows closer to everyone :)

When it comes to secondary characters, I need to name two of them :) first one is of course Addy, Jesse's daughter :) she's about four years old and just the cutest little thing :) she's very smart and I adored her... especially when you get to the part when the title of this book makes sense... *sighs dreamily* I won't say what it is, but it's so adorable I couldn't stop smiling once I read about it :) another one is Garratt, Jesse's younger brother... I am totally hoping he will get to be the hero of the sequel in this series... and if not the sequel then definitely somewhere along the way :) he was absolutely fantastic and I need to read about his happy ending :) there were of course quite a few others but these two absolutely stole my heart :)

All in all it was a really good book :) it was such a quick read for me, mainly because the writing style was hilarious and entertaining... ;) so even if certain characters *coughs* Jesse *coughs* did some things that made me want to smack them over the head... ;) I still couldn't put it down :) especially since it was actually written in 2 POVs, which means we got chapters from Millie's perspective, as well as Jesse's... :) and I have to say that being able to get a glimpse into his thoughts definitely helped me understand him... to the point I didn't hate him and was able to not throw my book away from frustration... ;) fortunately the ending was worth it... and that epilogue... *sighs happily* it's just what I like the most :) so even though I don't think it was perfect, I definitely had a lot of fun reading it and can honestly recommend this book to you guys... :)

Review: "True north" by L. E. Sterling

Title: "True north"
Book 2 in series True born
Main character: Lucinda "Lucy" Fox

I got an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review :) this is the sequel in a series that you really need to read in order, cause otherwise you will be spoiled about some major events, and also cause you will be absolutely lost without the previous knowledge... which actually made the beginning of this story a bit harder for me than I expected, cause truth be told... I remembered next to nothing from that very first book :) in my defense I read it almost a year ago, and in the meantime I inhaled probably around 150+ books... so when I picked this one up and realized I don't remember anything... yeah, I was worried... fortunately once I actually started reading it, the most important things came back... ;) plus it definitely helped that there were actually explanations along the way which helped to catch up on certain events :) anyway... my point is that my review will be a bit shorter than usually, because I don't want to spoil you anything, which means there is a lot of stuff I can't talk about :) but I will do my best to tell you a bit more about the world and the plot in general, and then share my thoughts and feelings about this installment :)

So what you need to know, is that this is a dystopian type of world... after the Plague, which decimated a whole lot of people, the rest of them can be divided in three categories: Lasters, who are basically just waiting to die because they can't do anything to prevent getting sick, Splicers, who use all sorts of genetic treatments to prolong their lives as much as they can and True Borns, who are Plague-resistant for some very interesting reasons... :) trust me, don't be discouraged by the fact that the main character in this story is a girl about 18, because it is not some light read... the world this author created is dark and creepy and sometimes definitely scary... not in a there-is-a-monster-under-my-bed kind of a way, but more in a you-never-know-who-is-your-true-enemy way, which sometimes is so much worse... and since that's pretty much everything I can tell without spoilers, let me say a bit more to you guys who haven't read the first book: I can definitely recommend you to give it a try, because the writing style is phenomenal and the whole idea for the world and characters is sooo interesting :) and sequel is worth it as well :) ok, now is the moment where all you people who haven't read that first installment have to go, unless you are ok with some spoilers about certain events :) because I am now entering the part when I tell you all about my thoughts and feelings about the second installment and it is truly impossible to do without referencing stuff from the first book :)

Ok, last warning, spoilers from the first book ahead :) worry not, I won't share anything spoilery about this new installment :) ok, so we pick up about four months after the events of the first book :) Margot, Lucy's twin sister, is still missing... Lucy has no idea where she is, although she has her suspicions... unfortunately she can't confirm anything... in the meantime she stays with True Borns and helping them in exchange for keeping her safe... the first half of the story was a bit slow for me... I was frustrated alongside Lucy because of the lack of informations, but all that changed around the middle, when she decides to take matters into her own hands ;) I can't tell you what exactly she does, but once the decision is made, the pace definitely picks up :) I gave this book 4 stars, because it was a really good sequel :) I loved how we learned more about characters we knew from that first installment, but I think my favourite one was a completely new person... I don't even want to tell you if I'm talking about a man or a woman... trust me, you'll know who I'm talking about when you meet them ;) not only that, but I'm glad we got to see a bit more of the world, and learn things about Lucy and her sister... because from the moment we met them at the beginning, we knew there's more to them... and finally we are starting to get some answers... not many, but it's a good start :) the writing style is as entertaining as it was before, it pulls you in from the start and keeps you interested in what's gonna happen next... all I can say is thankfully we started to get some answers in this installment, because I was getting impatient ;) now I am even more curious than before to see how it will all end :) fingers crossed that the conclusion to this trilogy will be good :) but so far, I can definitely recommend you these great stories :)

Review: "Veronica" by Kat Brewer

Author: Kat Brewer
Title: "Veronica"
Book 6 in series The chronicles of Erla
Main character: Veronica

I got a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review :) and I am very pleased to tell you guys, that we are at book #6 in this series and it only keeps getting better and better :) once again I inhaled this story super fast cause I was so curious about what's gonna happen next... and before I knew what was happening, the story ended... *sighs* the good ones always end too soon, am I right? ;) once again, I have to say that it's very hard to write a review for one of the middle books in an on-going series... so I hope you'll forgive me the lack of spoilery details... and maybe for a little bit shorter review than usual :) so how about I will tell you as much as I can about this series and the world in general, and then share with you my thoughts and feelings about this particular installment :)

The best way I can describe these books, is that they are my fantasy guilty pleasure ;) each story concentrates on a different main heroine, but the further you get into the sereis, the more they are connected to one another when it comes to events and all sorts of characters, so I highly recommend you to read them in order :) why I say it's a fantasy read? oh I'll tell ya... ;) because each book focuses on a woman who gets transported from our world through a transdimensional rift into the world of Jiva... oh don't roll our eyes at me... ;) I know how that may sound for some of you, but stay with me ;) so about Jiva... it's a world with different... let's call them countries, since that is the best way to describe them ;) some of them are kingdoms, where men are warriors and more dominant sex, and some of them are queendoms, where the women are fighters and rule everything :) there is one more thing I need to warn you about... in those queendoms, men are... slaves... there's no point in tiptoeing around it... but please, reserve your judgment for when you actually read more about this situation... it's impossible for me to explain it in just a few sentences in a review, but trust me... all women who travel there are apprehensive and even appalled by that idea... but what you need to understand, is that those men are... different... on a genetical level... so please, just give it a try, and only decide if it really bothers you once you read an actual part of the book... :) pinkie promise it's not as bad as you think ;) like I mentioned before, you should really read them in order, because they are quite connected to each other, and all the interactions and relationships between certain characters will make much more sense this way... ;) ok, now that we have all of this out of the way, let me tell you why I loved this installment so much :)

Veronica is another heroine that I did not expect to love so much :) she was a doctor in our world, so she definitely brings something important and very new to Jiva when she gets there... she was also very different to the heroines I already met in this series when it comes to personalities... she was a free spirit, not wanting to be tied down to anything and anyone... and to be honest, I thought it would get annoying for me pretty fast... but I was wrong :) I actually really liked her, even though she is very different than me :) but I understood her motives and why she made the decisions she made... :) we got some very interesting news about some characters we already know and love, and let me tell you... some of those people really surprised me... I'm not gonna say if it was a good or a bad thing, cause that might spoil you the identity of said people, but be prepared for a shock... :) the writing style was entertaining as always, and kept me up way longer than I should have been to finish this story... :) I really love the directions Kat takes with developing this world and characters... I cannot wait to see what's gonna happen next :) hopefully I convinced you guys to give this wonderful series a try :)

Random ramblings of a bookworm ;) #61

Explanation filled book haul
Another must-see movie
A week full of entertainment

Hello my awesome people :) I am in a pretty good mood today :) I mean, what's not to like... spring is in a full swing... and yes, that was sarcasm, because for a day or two last week we hit below zero temperatures in the morning when I had to go to work... *shudders* ;) but in all seriousness, I have so many great things going on in the upcoming weeks :) I will tell you about some of them today ;) not to mention that I have yet another book haul for you guys, and you know how buying books makes me feel :) *squeels with excitement* :) so this time, how about we will go with the order of those headlines and start at the top :)

You know how I always ramble on about all the awesome books I buy :) but this time I have two of them that need additional explanation... ;) oh don't worry, we will get to them near the end of this book haul, because I want to start with this beautiful trio of books :) #1, #2 and #9 in Bridgertons series by Julia Quinn :) this series of hilarious historical romances is definitely one of my all time favourite and I am slowly getting closer to own them all ;) I used to have them in translation, but ever since I decided to switch to originals, I am on a journey to replace my favourites :)

Next book I want to talk about is "Forged in blood I" by Lindsay Buroker, book #6 in her The emperor's edge series :) I absolutely adored the first two books I read so far in this fantasy / steampunk-ish series full of amazing writing style, entertaining characters and just all around awesomeness in general :) and since I have on good authority that the rest of the series is even better, aka my #BookBestie K who read it already ;) I am buying them all :) well, not at the same time, but I'm almost done ;) in fact, once I'm done with the paperback I'm currently reading, I plan to go back to this series and pick up book #3 :) already on my shelf :) can't wait to see what's gonna happen next with my favourite band of misfits... :)

Another beautiful gem I have for you is "When constellations form" by Micalea Smeltzer :) it's book #4 in her Light in the dark series and it actually involves a couple who already got their own story :) I loved their book and honestly I cannot wait to read more about them :) although I still have the previous one to read, but since I am a huge fan of Micalea's writing style... *sighs dreamily* I don't see that as a problem :)

The more I read Penny Reid's books, the more I'm convinced how truly amazing she is :) so naturally now I am on a mission to acquire all of her stories in physical copies... so I can pet them whenever I want... what? you don't hug your books? ;) anyway... :) I am close to achieving my goal, and this time, I decided to get my hands on "Beauty and the mustache", book #4 in Knitting in the city series :) it can also be counted as a prequel to her Winston brothers series :) *sighs dreamily* I swear you guys... her writing style... it ruins me for other authors... she always gives us unique, smart and beautiful stories that stay with me long after I finish them :)

And now we get to those two books that gave this haul "explanation filled" title :) the first one is "Good boy" co-written by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy :) it's the beginning of the WAGs series and I loved it :) now for the explanation part ;) as you probably already know, I have a monthly book budget... and I am very good at sticking to it... mainly because if I didn't have it, I would spend all of my money on books... #NoJoke #TrueStory :) I have no will power when it comes to it... and I was doing so well with it until this last month... just around the time I was buying them, I got sick... nothing major that would need a hospital visit, but I felt horrible... just all in all miserable and ugh... so I decided that all of the lovely books I bought so far are not enough to cheer me up, and I need something a little bit extra ;) and who better to make me laugh than Blake, the hero of this story :) yeah... it didn't take long for me to convince myself to go a bit over the budget this month... ;) #NoRegrets :)

The last book I want to mention is "The hot shot" by Kristen Callihan, book #4 in her Game on series ;) I am a huge fan of her writing style, and this series of sports themed romances is definitely high on my all time favourite list ;) and this book involves actually two explanations :) ok, so first, why I got it :) well, obviously cause I want to read it ;) duh... ;) but why I bought it now, is because I finally started to sell online all of my books *cue the gasps* but worry not, I mean all the translated books I had for what feels like forever on my shelves :) they mostly just took up space, because I stopped reading them years ago... so lately I purged my room and now I'm putting them up on an online site like ebay :) and since I recently actually sold a few of them, I decided to reward myself with a book :) because of reasons... ;) the second explanation is about an error on this particular copy :) which I did not realized until I read about it on Facebook :) so a few days after it arrived I read a post in Kristen's facebook group about how one person said she got a copy with the wrong synopsis... so I decided to check mine... and yep, it's there... the synopsis to the second book :) fortunately inside is the right story :) I would say that I'm shocked that I didn't see the mistake before but let's be honest... when I buy the book, I know what it's about, so when it arrives, I usually just sigh happily at the cover, pet it and put in on my shelf... ;)

Now that I told you all about my new books, are you ready to see my shelves? :) and I decided to rearrange each of them, cause they seemed a bit... boring to me :) although now they are slowly getting more and more crowded... I feel that in a couple of months... especially since july is my birthday month ;) I will need to expand them to four instead of just three ;) but in the meantime, here they are :) my paranormal / fantasy one...

my contemporary one...

and my historical one :) finally it's starting to not look so sad... ;)

Ok, now let's get into that must-see movie :) "Atomic blonde" is going to hit the movie theatres right around the time of my birthday ;) I know that it's available earlier in some countries, but here it's gonna be in july :) I was aware that this movie is gonna come in the upcoming months, I heard the title somewhere, but I wasn't really sure what exactly it's about... ;) come on, I have a limited space in my head, and most of it is filled with all sort of book related knowledge ;) although a surprisingly large part of it is devoted to movies ;) so I "knew" that this movie existed, but it wasn't until I saw this phenomenal trailer that I decided I have to see it :) oh, what's one more movie on my must-see list ;) I have that trailer for you right below, if you haven't seen it already :) doesn't it look cool? :)

Last but not least I want to share with you my excitement about two things that I have planned for this week :) first, tomorrow, me, my lovely sister J and a few of our friends are going to see a concert of Lords of the sound orchestra :) they are performing live "Oscar music awards" which is a show that revolves around soundtracks nominated for the Oscar :) and I cannot wait to see it :) it will be accompanied by a visual display and I've been counting down the days to see it live :) the second thing I want to tell you about is a movie me and J are planning to see of friday :) say what you want, but I am very excited to see "The fate of the furious" :) it's movie #8 in that saga, but they are always sooo entertaining :) I don't expect any logic in them, just a great afternoon ;) and once again, just like we did with the previous one, we are going to see it in 4D :) which means that alongside 3D effects, our chairs will move as well :) plus a few other cool stuff, but the chairs are my favourite part :) when I was doing it for the first time, I started laughing so hard when they began to move, because it was just so cool :) and hilarious ;) but these types of movies are the best ones to experience this sort of thing :) and I can't wait to do it again :) in case you missed it before, here's the trailer for this newest installment :)

Ok, that is a wrap people :) I hope you enjoyed my #RandomRamblings this time :) as always, I had so much fun writing them and I love connecting with you guys, so be sure to leave me a comment here, on my Facebook page or Goodreads account, cause I check those every day :)

Release blitz + Review: "Ghost in his eyes" by Carrie Aarons

Author: Carrie Aarons
Main characters: Carson Cole and Blake Sayer

He was as magnetic as a deadly hurricane to the shore.

Carson Cole was my first love. The boy I'd shared my whole self with.

He was the man who'd taken the other part of my soul and drowned it in the sea we'd grown up in.

And now he's back. Ten years later, and the demons of our past are still haunting every breath trapped between us.

She was as wild as the horses who owned the beach highways we drove down.

Blake Sayer was the beautiful daredevil who had me wrapped around her finger from the time we were seven.

Until a horrible accident stole every piece of joy from her life.

Ten years later, she's a shell of the girl she once was, and it's all my fault. The whispers of our history shackle her to the island I left behind.

Just like lost years and unspoken words, love had slipped from our fingers like grains of sand. We’d barely made it out alive last time, was it even possible to reconstruct the shattered pieces of us?

I got an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review :) I initially gave this story 4 stars... but after thinking about it for a few days, I'm changing it for 4,5 stars instead :) although if we're being totally honest, I'm still not sure what to think about it... this book *sighs* this book gave me so many feels... and it's very hard to rate such an experience... but as always, I will do my best to tell you all about my thoughts and feelings and help you make your own decision about reading this book... although I highly recommend you to give it a try :)

Carson and Blake... it's... they are just... *sighs* there are sooo many things I can't tell you... or to be more precise, I refuse to tell you, because I don't want to share spoilery things and ruin your experience of reading it for the first time... so what I can tell is that they were actually childhood sweethearts :) they've been friends first for a very long time, and then it grew into something soooo much more :) until something horrible happened that tore them apart for ten years... we learn pretty early in the book what was that, but since it's not in the synopsis I won't spoil that for you... it was a tragedy, and they both reacted in a way I can understand... there's not much more I actually want to tell you about them, because this is definitely one of those stories when the less you know the better :) but what I can share is that I really liked Carson :) maybe because he was a bit more "put together" when he finally came back to their hometown... because when it comes to Blake... yeah, it took me a while to connect with her... I mean, don't get me wrong, I absolutely understand why she practically became a hermit and why she was so closed off from everyone and everything... it broke my heart... that's why I really appreciate the change in her that we could see throughout the story :)

This book was nothing like I expected it to be... seriously... in the best way possible :) let me explain... I was afraid that it will be filled with angst and drama and all that... which would be totally understandable now that I know the whole story... and yes, it had that, but only a little bit... I was actually surprised by how quickly they were able to overcome certain pretty big obstacles... it was almost like him coming back was a catalyst she needed to confront everything she kept bottled up inside her... all the emotions and guilt... *sighs* and most important thing... all of that was written soooo beautifully... *sighs dreamily* depends on the characters and stories I enjoy Carrie's books a little bit more or less... after all, we have our personal preferences as readers and it's only natural that certain plots will be closer to my heart... but every time her writing style is the most wonderful part of her books... :) it's honest and raw to the point of being painful at times... and it always hits my in all the feels... you can tell how much of herself she puts in those stories... this one is once again written in 2 POVs, which means we get chapters from Blake's perspective as well as from Carson's and they both are done so well... the best compliment I can give this book, is that days later it was still on my mind... the emotional journey that this couple went through, the depth of the feelings they had for each other... I highly recommend you guys to give this book and this author in general a try, if you haven't already :)

Review: "The truth about love vol. II" by Anna Bloom

Author: Anna Bloom
Book 2 in series The truth about love
Main characters: Jared Smith and Cherry Donaldson

Cherry Donaldson goes through dates like some women go through coffee. So when she find herself in need of a temporary roommate, saying yes to the gorgeous guy—even if he’s not her usual type—is a bad idea. A very bad idea.

The last thing she expects is to fall into a friendship with Jared. But he makes it so easy. And before she knows it, the lines blur and his annoying habits become just a little bit charming.

Will Cherry break her own rules to take a chance on the guy she now calls a friend, or is The Truth About Love too much to bear?

I got the ARC of this story from the author in exchange for an honest review :) since this is a novella, my review will be on the shorter side as well... :) I can't, after all, tell you guys too much, because that may as well end with me telling you all about way too spoilerific stuff :) so I'm gonna do my best to say a bit about the plot and the main characters, and then a little bit more about my thoughts and feelings, and hopefully I will convince you to give it a try :) cause I really enjoyed this story :)

So what you need to know is that this is the second installment in an on-going series... although that first story concentrated on another couple... :) and they will be once again the main focus of the next novella :) but maybe let's go back to the pair from this book... :) we actually met Cherry before :) she and Eve, the heroine of that first story, are roommates :) or to be more precise, they were roommates, until certain things happened, that I'm not gonna spoil you, but beware, because they are discussed in this novella, so if you haven't read that first book and don't want any spoilers, maybe go back and start at the beginning :) anyway... said things happened and now Cherry needs a new temporary roommate... :) and that's when we meet Jared :) and... that's pretty much everything I can tell you about the overall plot of the story... don't hate on me, but I feel that if I so much as hint about certain things, it will totally ruin certain surprises... and the story is really short so I want you guys to have as many of them as possible :) so how about I will skip to the part when I tell you all about my feelings about this story :)

I gave this novella 4,5 stars and I thoroughly enjoyed myself when I read it :) that missing 0,5 star is only because I connected a bit more with the couple from the first story... but don't get me wrong, Cherry and Jared are... hilariously imperfect together :) that is the best way I can possibly describe them to you :) I cannot wait to read more about them, because even though this story ends with what I like to call a happy-for-now situation, I NEED more :) I'm greedy like that when it comes to characters and stories that catch my attention :) and Anna's writing style is absolutely amazing ;) it was my second novella written by her and again, I flew way too fast through it... I really need to read a full lenght novel by her to check if her writing style is as entertaining with longer stories :) fingers crossed :) but back to the topic... :) I can wholeheartedly recommend you guys this short and super fun novella :) although I would advise you to read the first one in this series as well to get all the connections, but it's not absolutely necessary... unless you don't want to be spoiled at all, then definitely start at the beginning ;) either way, if you have time for just a quick read, then absolutely give this book, and this whole series a try :)

Review: "Sparking the fire" by Kate Meader

Author: Kate Meader
Book 3 in series Hot in Chicago
Main characters: Wyatt Fox and Molly Cade

I got an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review :) even though it's part of a series, you can actually read it as a standalone... in fact this was my absolute first book written by this lovely author, but it will definitely not be the last... not only because naturally I had to start this particular series with the last book in it ;) but also because I really enjoyed the writing style in general, and I am curious about her other stories :) although I do feel the need to warn you that you might encounter some spoilers about previous books and how certain couples got together, if you're not familiar with those stories... but that lack of knowledge doesn't ruin the joy of reading this particular installment :) so now that we have this little explanation out of the way, let me tell you a bit more about this book :)

I will start with our main couple :) Molly and Wyatt... they actually met before... the very beginning of the book is a glimpse into one hot week they spent together... *fans myself* and what a week it was... ;) and then we skip ahead five years to the present... :) where Wyatt is a firefighter and a consultant on a movie Molly is shooting in Chicago... she's the producer and the star of it, working her way back to the top after a messy divorce and quite a scandal... yeah... her last year was pretty rough... but she is doing her best to overcome all that... I absolutely loved her and the fact that she did not lost her sassy side :) she was so much fun to read about... even though there were moments, or to be more precise certain decisions she made, that I did not like I could sort of undertand where she was going with all that :) Wyatt on the other hand... damn... ;) he definitely stole my heart... yeah, he has some alpha moments, but I actually did not mind them at all... ;) there was just something about him... he was this calm and confident wall of force in his family, but once he unleashes all that when someone threatens people who are close to him... watch out world... ;)

Theirs is a relationship that is not easy to describe... ;) on the one hand, the chemistry is off the charts... like seriously sizzling hot... #NoJoke :) and the sarcastic banter... man oh man, you know how much I love that... :) but on the other hand, they both know that actually getting together is not really the best idea at the time... they both have a lot going on... and I can't tell you about some of that stuff... :) but that doesn't change the fact that they are absolutely drawn to each other... and watching all the sparks between them is soooo entertaining... :) I'm not gonna tell you everything about how they actually get together, because I want you to experience all that without any spoilers whatsoever, but I loved it... which really says a lot, cause I'm not usually a fan of those push-and-pull-at-the-same-time-situations :)

Now when it comes to secondary characters... they were definitely a big plus of the story :) like I mentioned before, this one is the last book in a series, so naturally we have appearances of all the previous couples... especially since they are all siblings in this huge and amazing family :) and even though I now know some of the events that happened in their own books, that definitely does not discourage me from reading them... in fact, the more scenes I read in this novel about the whole big Fox clan, the more I fell in love with all of them.. and now I want to read ALL of those books... :) *sighs* and my tbr #BookMountain just gets bigger and bigger... #NoRegrets ;) I'm not gonna name all of the people I loved, but I have to mention Gage :) he was the most hilarious one of them all and I may just skip the order and read his story first... ;) it's a real struggle people ;)

I really loved this story... :) the writing style was fantastic... and I am always apprehensive when trying out a completely new to me author, because you never know what you'll find, so when I discover a great storyteller it's always such a wonderful surprise :) now I got her and her books on my radar ;) I gave this book 4,5 stars because even though I loved the majority of it, there was just one thing that bothered me... I think that it took a bit too long to resolve certain drama towards the end of the book... I'm not gonna go into specifics, but I wanted to see that remedied sooner... but again, it's mostly connected to my personal preferences as a reader, so I'm sure it won't be a problem for a lot of you guys... :) just wanted to put it out there :) and please, don't get me wrong, I loved how this story ended and I highly recommend you this novel :) especially if you like witty and sarcastic banter, scorchingly hot chemistry and all sorts of relationships... because the connections and interactions not only between our main couple, but between the members of the family and their friends are simply wonderful... I wouldn't mind dropping by for a barbeque with them... ;) I hope you guys will give it a try ;)

Review: "Madelyn" by Kat Brewer

Author: Kat Brewer
Title: "Madelyn"
Book 5 in series The chronicles of Erla
Main character: Madelyn

I got a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review :) I have to say that this series just keeps getting better and better with each installment I read :) I have no shame in admitting that it's one of my favourite guilty pleasure fantasy reads :) #NoJoke ;) even though technically each books follows a different main character, a lot of people we met previously appear, so I highly recommend you guys to read them in order :) especially since the further we get into this series, the more connected those stories are, soooo... ;) just an advice ;) as always with a book from the middle of an on-going series, it's very hard for me to write a spoiler free review... that's why they always tend to be a bit shorter than usual... not because I don't have a lot of things to say about it, but because the majority of the things are too spoilerific for me to share with you, without giving away some major plot points and twists... :) but I will do my best to tell you as much as I can and convince you to give those amazing books a try :)

Ok, so let me start by saying a little bit more about the premise of the whole series and that world in general... :) like I said, each book concentrates on another heroine... who is transported from our world into the world of Jiva through a transdimensional rift... and I know how that may sound to some of you, but stay with me ;) Jiva is filled with kingdoms and queendoms... kingdoms are... let's call them countries, for the lack of a better word ;) where men are the more dominant sex... they are warriors and fighters and generally in charge of stuff :) queendoms are the opposite, the women are strong and dominant and rule everything :) I do feel the need to warn you about one more thing... in those queendoms, at least the ones we met as readers so far, men are... well, there's no better way than to just say it straight... they are slaves... but please, reserve your judgmenet for when you actually read one of those books... it's not as horrible as it may sound... there is a whole explanation of why they are so submissive and gentle in Erla, which is one of the queendoms... and trust me, I was apprehensive at the beginning as well... as are all the women who travel through that rift and learn about that situation... it's really one of those things where it's very hard to accurately explain everything, so again, please just give it a try and then if you hate it, at least you formed your own opinion :) now that we have some basics established, let me tell you more about why I loved this story as much as I did :)

What I loved about this particular installment, that I can share with you of course ;) is how different from the other heroines Madelyn was :) she's definitely not a warrior, she doesn't really have any martial class in her past or anything like that, and I adored that change :) it was soooo entertaining to read how this type of a person will adapt to a world full of warriors and find her place there :) and she definitely left her mark... let's just say that her love of fashion definitely started some trends... ;) not to mention that this particular story has a certain different plot than others... I can't tell you what kind exactly, I can't even hint at it, because it involves some serious spoilers, but it made this book absolutely fascinating to read :) Madelyn is not a warrior, or at least not in the most basic sense of the word, but I loved how strong she was... what a good diplomat she became... *sighs happily* it was a delight to read... well, certain warlord definitely did not make the matters worse... ;) and of course we got all sorts of appearances of previous main characters and a whole bunch of regular secondary characters from the series... just one more reason to read those books in order :) I swear, that the lovely Kat just keeps getting better and better with her writing style :) because the further we go into the series, the more and more I am loving the new characters she creates and introduces to us, the development of the ones we already met... the changes in the world... *sighs happily* I seriously hope I convinced you guys to give this series a try, because it's really amazing and it pains me that not as many people heard about it as they should ;)

Release blitz: "The hot shot" by Kristen Callihan

Book 4 in series Game on

First we were friends. Then we were roommates. Now I want more…

What can I say about Chess Copper? The woman is capable of bringing me to my knees. I know this about five minutes after getting naked for her.

No one is more surprised than me. The prickly photographer my team hired to shoot our annual charity calendar isn’t my usual type. She’s defense to my offense, a challenge at every turn. But when I’m with her, all the regrets and darkness goes away. She makes life fun.

I want to know Chess, be close to her. Which is a bad idea.

Chess is looking for a relationship. I’ve never given a woman more than one night. But when fate leaves Chess without a home, I step up and offer her mine. We’re roommates now. Friends without benefits. But it’s getting harder to keep our hands off each other. And the longer we live together the more I realize she’s becoming my everything.

Trick is… Now that I’ve made her believe I’m a bad bet, how do I convince her to give this player a true shot at forever?

Grumbling, I toss on some black lounge pants and my oversized Tulane t-shirt and head to the drugstore.
My head throbs by the time I get there, and my insides are writhing. I rest my hand against my lower stomach and grab a basket before calling James to complain.
“I swear,” I tell him as I grab a bottle of painkillers. “It’s like this entire day has been cursed.”
He snickers. “Curse. Get it? Curse?”
I roll my eyes, even though he can’t see me. “Laugh it up. Meanwhile, it feels as if someone is playing Battleship in my uterus.”
“Poor Chessie bear. At least we know why you were in such a foul mood.”
A flush washes over my cheeks. “Yeah.” Lie. Lie. Lie. A tub of salted caramel gelato makes its way into the basket.
“Tell me you’re getting some gelato,” James says.
I smile. “Just grabbed it.”
“Salted caramel?”
“You know it.”
I find the feminine products aisle and search for my brand. “I’m going to go home, take a long bath with my gelato, and forget this fucking day.” Forget Finn. “And then I’m going to go on Amazon and buying a freaking year’s supply of tampons so I don’t have to make these kinds of emergency runs anymore.”
A low, deep chuckle rumbles from behind me, and all the tiny hairs lift on my arms.
“But you’ll still need your gelato,” a familiar—fuck me, seriously?—voice points out.
My insides swoop even as my cheeks burn.
“Who is that?” James asks in my ear.
I slowly turn on one heel. “The plague,” I say, glaring up at Finn Mannus’s smiling face.
“From asshat to plague.” Finn scrunches up his brow. “I’m not sure if that’s a step down or a tie.”
“Who is that?” James nearly yells now.
I don’t take my eyes off Finn. “I’ll call you back.”
James’s squawks of protest cut off as I hit the end button.
“Are you stalking me, Mannus?”
Finn a rests his hands low on his lean hips. “Having a healthy amount of conceit myself, I have to admire yours, but no, buttercup. My buddy Woodson lives a few blocks away. It’s poker night. I’m stocking up on beer.”
It’s only then I notice a twelve pack tucked under his other arm.
“And tampons?” I ask, with a pointed look around the aisle we’re standing in.
“Not tonight,” he says easily. “Though we used to keep a pack of them back in college. Light flows were perfect for stopping up bloody noses.”
A snort escapes me. “Now there’s a visual.” Somehow, I’ve taken a step closer to him. He’s freshly showered, the golden brown strands of his hair still damp at his temples. And I wonder if he’s just come from the gym or practice. “So back in college you went and bought these tampons?”
“Nah,” he says with a cheeky smile. “I’d ask one of the girls hanging around to get me some.”
“Of course you did.” My nose wrinkles with annoyance.
“Give me a little credit, Chess. I’d buy them now if I had to.”
“Hmm…” I eye him, trying not to return his smile. If only because it’s more fun when he teases. “So why are you in this aisle now, if not for potential nosebleed needs?”
“That’s easy.” He steps closer, a warm wall of muscle and clean scent. “I heard your voice.”
For a second I just blink. “You recognized my voice?”
His gaze darts over my face as if he’s trying to get a read on why I’m gaping at him. “Not to be…ah…rude, but you’re loud when you talk on the phone.”
“Yeah, but… You recognized it.” We’d only just met. It occurs to me that I’d recognized his both times he’d snuck up on me. Then again, his voice is distinctive, flowing like hot honey when he’s relaxed or hammering down like iron to rock when he’s taking command of a situation.
A soft flush of pink tints the tips of his ears. If I wasn’t staring at him, I might have missed it. He shifts his weight. “Was I not supposed to?”
“No. Yes.” I shake my head and laugh. “I don’t know.”
He grins then. “You’re cute when you’re flustered.”
“I’m not flustered.” I am.

Random ramblings of a bookworm ;) #60

Songs of the moment
That one scary movie I want to see
Getting better at finding balance

Hello my lovely people :) how are you all doing this wonderful monday? why am I in such a great mood you ask? ;) because I am enjoying my long weekend... yes, still :) cause this monday is my additional day off from work :) so I am sharing my joy with all of you :) hopefully you're day is as nice as mine and you won't hurt me for being so positive... ;) my free day is actually connected to one of the headlines, and I decided that today, why do them in order, if we can just go totally backwards ;) so we'll start at the very end and work our way up ;)

Like I said, I have an additional day off  today :) and I am gonna be very busy here practically throughout the whole day... why? :) let me explain :) if you follow my blog for a while now... especially my #RandomRamblings posts, you may know already that I struggle with finding the right balance... :) with different stuff in life ;) being lazy and exercising, eating healthy and sneaking in yummy treats... reading and working on my blog... all sorts of stuff :) but I am getting better at it... I think it's a struggle that we can all relate to... all I'm saying is... baby steps people, or else you will feel overwhelmed... I learned that lesson the hard way... ;) anyway... :) like I said, I am getting better at it, and wanted to share with you my plan for today :) since I spent the last two days basically doing nothing... as in nothing productive, because I've been reading a ton and spending time with my family, you know... just generally relaxing, I'm gonna be spending my monday catching up on my blog :) I have quite a few reviews to write and edit, because of all the reading I've been doing ;) plus, I have one or two that's been waiting to be posted becuase I needed to check them one final time and I haven't got the time to do it... especially with me being sick lately, and then lots of other little things have been happening... so I decided to put on my big girl panties today and just take care of a lot of that stuff :) to start my week on the right foot :) that's why this additional monday off from work couldn't come up at a better time :) keep your fingers crossed for me ;)

Going up with our headlines I want to share with you guys one quite surprising movie that I can't wait to see... it wasn't actually on my radar... like at all... until I saw the teaser trailer a bit ago... it didn't really show anything but I was definitely intrigued... but recently we got a full trailer... and it actually looks quite scary... and creepy... and that is why I am so shocked by how much I want to see it :) don't worry, it's not a horror or anything... trust me, I cannot even watch trailers for those sort of stories, because they give me nightmares... I have a way too active imagination ;) #TrueStory :) the movie I'm talking about is "The mummy" :) I have the full trailer mentioned before right here for you guys... and it looks soooo cool :)

Last but not least I want to share with you two songs that I discovered lately :) and naturally, they are now both totally stuck in my head :) one is pretty new, the other one not so much, but hey... does it really make any difference? ;) so enjoy and who knows, maybe you'll like them as well ;)

Ok, that is a wrap people :) this week a bit shorter, but I have all sorts of reviews coming your way later, sooo... hope you'll be ok with it :) as always, I love connecting with you guys, so be sure to leave me a comment here, on my Facebook page or Goodreads account, cause I'm there every day :)

Review: "The goal" by Elle Kennedy

Author: Elle Kennedy
Title: "The goal"
Book 4 in series Off-campus
Main characters: John Tucker and Sabrina James

I honestly have to say that this conclusion of the Off-campus series was my least favourite book in it... don't get me wrong... it was still very good and I enjoyed it, but hey... one book in each series have to get this title... and this time it's this one :) all the books in it can technically be read as standalones, although I would highly recommend you guys to actually read them in order... this way you'll avoid any spoilers about certain events and characters :) and all those connections and interactions will mean that much more if you know the history ;) and it's especially important with this installment, because about half of it overlaps with the third book... and definitely spoils certain things that surprised the hell out of me in it... so now that we have this little explanation out of the way, let me tell you a little bit more about our main couple... :)

Tucker and Sabrina... *sighs* he was absolutely amazing... I knew very little about him from previous stories... he always was this sort of "mother hen" in the house, taking care of everyone, but sort of at the same time being definitely the most quiet one... not boring, trust me on that ;) but it wasn't until I got to read a story from his perspective, that I truly got to know him... and damn... he was great :) such a fantastic mix of kind and sexy and hilarious and loving all at the same time... ;) be still my heart... ;) he surprised me more than once, I'll tell you that much :) Sabrina on the other hand... yeah... I can definitely see why certain people had problems with her... I had them as well... maybe not on the I-hate-her-with-all-my-heart-Tucker-deserves-better kind of a level... ;) but still... :) I think what bothered me the most about her, is how closed off and distant she was... don't get me wrong, I absolutely understand why she acted this way... if you can't count on anyone in your life, you start to keep to yourself and it gets harder and harder to trust other people... that's why even if those traits in her weren't my favourite, I understood her...

Theirs is a relationship I definitely did not see coming... if someone around book #2 or something told me they will get together I would... probably laugh... ;) even after reading the synopsis of this story when it was released I still wasn't sure how that will play out... but it turned out pretty good :) theirs is definitely a slow burn relationship... and I didn't use the word romance on purpose... because the chemistry and attraction between them are crazy hot from the very start... which results in a surprising pregnancy... although I felt like I waited forever until said pregnancy was discovered... almost half of the book... but the actual relationship? yeah, that's much more complicated... Sabrina is crazy busy, with college and two jobs, so she's not in the least interested in having a boyfriend... but Tucker is determined to change her mind... he does it by giving her all that she asks for... space and time to do her own stuff :) and it works... with time, their relationship slowly grows into something more... :)

When it comes to secondary characters in this story... we of course have appearances of all the previous couples from the series :) that is yet another reason for you guys to read those books in order, so you can understand all the dynamics better :) there are also definitely some glimpses and teasers about the potential for a spin-off series... *wink wink* and I am all for it :) there are tons of people I would love to read about, and I hope that the lovely Elle will return to Briar university soon enough... when it comes to new characters... all I will say is that getting to know Sabrina's family definitely helped me understood her and her behaviour better... that's all I'm gonna say about it, cause I want you to be able to form your own opinions :)

All in all it was a good book :) I gave it 4 stars, so that's not a bad rating :) it was written in 2 POVs, which means we got chapters from both Sabrina and Tucker perspectives, and that's my favourite way :) it always helps me get to know our main characters better and connect to them that much more... :) not to mention that Elle Kennedy's writing style is always fantastic :) entertaining, hilarious and sexy... *fans herself* ;) and emotional and vulnerable when it should be... that woman can write it all :) and even though this particular story resonated with me the least out of all four, I still can wholeheartedly recommend it, as well as this whole series, for you guys :) my issues were solely connected to my personal preferences, and I'm sure that for some of you it will be your favourite installment :) so definitely give it a try :)

Review: "Melody's key" by Dallas Coryell

Main characters: Mason Keane and Tegan Lockwood

I got a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review ;) it took me the longest time to finally get to this story... it was sitting on my kindle for months... *hangs my head in shame* what can I say, life got in the way, and there are only so many books I can read in the time I have available... you know, besides working, blogging and generally living my life ;) but back to the topic of this review... :) I gave this standalone story 4 stars... it was a pretty good book, especially for a debut novel, but there were also things that bothered me... some of them connected to my personal preferences as a reader, so keep on reading to find out if they would bother you as well ;)

Ok, so let me start by telling you a bit more about our main characters... Tegan... well, I definitely had some problems with her... her family are the owners of a hotel where she helps them... she was... definitely a bit too dramatic for my taste from time to time... don't get me wrong, there were times when I totally understood her reactions, but more often than not, I thought it was too much... but again, it's connected to my own personal preferences as a reader and may not bother you as much as it did me... :) she also could be very judgemental... but again, don't get me wrong, she had many great qualities as well :) I did liked her, throughout most of the story... even though she helps her family, Tegan's true passion is music... and art in general :) she writes such beautiful songs... *sighs dreamily* if you want to listen to all the songs that appear in this novel, you can do it on author's YouTube account :) that was such a fun bonus, to actually be able to hear them... although the lyrics are simply wonderful all on their own :) Mason is a big music star who is pretty much shipped off to this hotel, so that he can "get better"... and I'm using that as a metaphor, because I don't really want to get into too many details why he needed that time off... I think it's best if you discover all of that for yourselves while you read this story... :) I was actually surprised by how much I liked him... the more I got to know him, the more he found his way under my skin... and although I had my troubles with Tegan, Mason was definitely a bright spot of this story :)

Theirs is definitely a slow burn romance... mainly because Tegan can be very judgemental and has an opinion about him even before he met him... but that's connected to issues of her own... that I won't get into in this review... but once she actually gets to know him a little bit more, her opinion changes... I really liked that they started as this sort of weird friends... :) their interactions were hilarious and very entertaining to read... and the way they shared music a bit later on... *sighs* it was soooo lovely :) I mean, it really shows that music is a passion of the author as well :) in the way he writes about it... even for me, a person who don't know much about the insides of creating songs, and just enjoy the end result, it was so interesting to read :)

When it comes to secondary characters... I think the story was filled with quite a bunch of very interesting ones :) I have to say that the whole Lockwood family was amazing :) especially Ryleigh, Tegan's sister :) don't get me wrong, her brothers and parents were such entertaining ones to read about as well, but somehow Ryleigh is the one that stood out the most to me :) as well as Simon, Tegan's best friend... although I have a complaint about him... Simon is gay, and there were teasers and glimpses into a situation that he is with someone, but we never got any details... and now I feel robbed... I want to know more about him :) and I was really mad that this one plot point was just... left unresolved...

All in all it was a good book, and I can honestly recommend it to you :) yes, I had my problems with the heroine, but like I said, it's connected to my personal preferences a reader... I just remembered there was one more thing that bothered me when it came to her... there was an event from her past, and I'm not gonna go into details about what exactly it was... but that event was basically mentioned in one place, and then prety much never again... I also didn't feel like it affected her... which begs the question, why mention it at all? it's sort of a topic that I don't think should be glossed over... but aside from that, the writing style was actually surprisingly good for a debut novel :) my favourite part were the letters :) what letters, you ask? good question ;) Tegan is in possession of letters written during WWI... and they are breathtaking... I won't say more, but *sighs dreamily* they were so beautifully written... and although this story wasn't without flaws, I can recommend you guys to give it a try :) grab a sneak peek, see if the writing style works for you and check it out :) I'm sure some of you will absolutely love it :)
