Blog tour + Giveaway + Review: "The cad and the co-ed" by Penny Reid and L. H. Cosway

Authors: Penny Reid and L. H. Cosway
Title: "The cad and the co-ed"
Book 3 in series Rugby
Main characters: Bryan Leech and Eilish Cassidy

Bryan Leech is a cad.
Or, he *was* a cad.
No one is quite certain.
Once the quintessential playboy, Bryan claims he’s done with wild parties and weekend benders. No more one night stands leading to mornings he can’t remember; no more binges and blackouts; no more exploits plastered all over the tabloids and rag sheets. According to Bryan, he’s cleaning up his act.
The only problem is, no one believes him.

Eilish Cassidy never thought she’d be a mother at nineteen or still in college at twenty-four. Cut off from every member of her family except her favorite cousin, she’s finally managed to put her life back together. Stronger and wiser, Eilish enters her last semester of university determined to stand on her own. Now she just needs to find an internship.
The only problem is, her best option—by far—places her directly in the path of her son’s father, and he doesn’t remember her at all.

Bryan is determined to prove he’s changed. Eager to settle down with the right woman, he’s got his sights set on the gorgeous redhead who seems terribly familiar.
Eilish is determined to hide her secret. She’ll do anything to keep her child safe, even if that means ignoring her own wishes and desires.
But what happens when Bryan starts to remember? And what will it take for Bryan to convince the girl he forgot that she’s unforgettable?

I got an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review ;) initially I gave it 5 stars, but I think that was because I really, really, REALLY wanted to give it those stars... ;) but after thinking about it for a few days, I had to change it for 4,5 stars ;) so it's not a huge change, but... you know, now I feel better ;) I will try my best and explain to you guys all my feelings about this book, because make no mistakes, it was absolutely amazing :) and even though it was book #3 in this series, it works perfectly well as a standalone :) so how about I will get straight into all my thoughts about this particular story :)

Let me start with our main couple... :) Eilish and Bryan... *sighs* the same thing happened in this book as in the previous one... I did not expect to love the hero as much as I did... because as was with Sean earlier, Bryan very unexpectedly stole my heart... I have no idea how those two authors do it... I'm sure before going into the book that I will have problems with certain things, and then I read chapter after chapter and before I know what is happening, I'm in love... and it was not an easy thing to do this time, because Bryan was not a likeable character at the beginning... in the first chapter we saw him during his *party days* and the way he treated Eilish after their night together was bad... so imagine my surprise, when I saw him after the time jump... those five years totally changed him :) now he was actually acting like a grandpa, with his glasses and tea and complaining about the neighbours and their loud parties... ;) I kid you not ;) we see him again when he's been about 18 months sober and I loved this new version of him... :) Eilish on the other hand... *sighs* ok, so I think the first thing you need to know about my feelings toward her, is that I am not a fan of the whole secret baby thing... and if this book would have been written by anyone else, I would not read it... but I trusted these authors to make it good, and they delivered as good as I hoped it would be ;) it's still not my thing, but it didn't annoy me in this one ;) Eilish made the best decision she could in the circumstances she was in, and I don't judge her for that... when she comes back home and sees Bryan again, it takes her a while to tell him the truth... on the one hand, I tried to understand her fears about the whole situation and why it took her a while to get to it... although if we're being honest, it was sooner that I expected, although still it took her too long ;) once that huge information is out of the way, the rest of the book revolves around them working things out, which is much harder now that they both know about the son they have together :) I feel like I'm a little bit all over the place with this review, but that's only because I have sooo many thoughts running inside my head and they all want to come out at the same time ;) hopefully you'll be able to follow my train of thoughts ;) so the last thing I want to tell you about our main couple is, that I really enjoyed their story, although... and I can't quite put my finger on why... I had troubles connecting with Eilish... maybe because I wasn't a fan of some of the decisions and the way she reacted about certain things... especially that one situation towards the end I absolutely cannot share details about, because it was too spoilerific, but... I think that's why I had to take that 0,5 star from the rating :)

When it comes to secondary characters, this lovely duo of writers once again gave us a great balance of the ones we already know and new ones :) and I want to mention one person in each category ;) first of all, Sean... :) I am still amazed by how much I love Sean :) he was the hero of the previous book in this series, but like I mentioned before, you don't need to read it to enjoy this one :) but I absolutely adored to see a guy that could have a nickname Sean The Meddler ;) #TrueStory ;) he was protective of Eilish, but was not afraid to tell her the harsh truth when she needed to hear it :) when it comes to new people, and I am totally hoping he will get the next book in this series, I totally fell in love with William :) he was one of the rugby players in the team and Bryan's roommate :)

All in all I really enjoyed this story... apart from the little things that bothered me, or things I still have troubles putting my finger on, it was a great book :) the writing style is always amazing with these two authors... I am a huge fan of them individually and when they co-wrote stories together :) I especially adored the hilarious Twitter exchanges at the beginnings of each chapter :) once again, we got a book written in 2 POVs, which means we got chapters from Eilish's and Bryan's perspectives, and it's definitely my favourite style :) I love to be able to get inside both main characters heads :) this story had lots of hilarious moments, but also a whole bunch of much more emotional and vulnerable ones as well... I still don't know how two people can work together so well and create a story that flows effortlessly and when you can't tell who wrote what part... :) you just keep turning page after page because you need to know what's gonna happen next :) and although I might not loved this particular story as much as I did their other work, both individually and as a team, but I can still wholeheartedly recommend you guys this book and this series in general :) because those authors are amazing and you all need to get to know their work :)
