Books I can't wait to get my hands on ;) october edition

Hello hello my wonderful people... it’s this time of the month again when I share with you all of the books I’m looking forward to getting my hands on from the upcoming month... and can you believe september is already ending?!? ;) I feel like it started just yesterday... time really does fly when you're busy ;) I have eight books to talk to you about today... yes, you read that right... eight ;) and even better, well, at least for me ;) is that I already have on my kindle or I will get in the upcoming days / weeks seven out of those eight books ;) *squeels with joy* I have to say that I am beyond excited to be able to read ARCs of the books written by one of my favourite authors in time to be a part of promoting them on release days ;) I mean, I would read them either way... but this is sooo much cooler ;) below you will see only six covers, because those six are the only ones available at the time I was posting this :) trust me, they all are so interesting, that there’s really no particular order in what I’m gonna be talking about them ;) so how about I will dive straight into telling you about all of them ;)

So the first book I will mention is „Beard science” by Penny Reid, book #3 in her Winston brothers series ;) *sighs dreamily* oh how I love that series of hers... I mean, I love all her books, but... well, to be honest now that I think about it there is no „but” ;) each and every one of her books is different and endearing and just... such a pleasure to read... ;) with her unique and a bit quirky, in the best possible way, writing style I absolutely cannot wait to read this one of a kind contemporary romance about Cletus Winston, one of the most unpredictable characters I have ever read about ;) I would tell you more, in case you are unfamiliar with him but... he’s much too complex for me to even try and describe him in a sentence or two... ;)

Another contemporary romance that comes out in october is „Keepsake” by Sarina Bowen, book #3 in her True north series ;) and damn... I am so curious about it ;) ever since I met Zach in that first book I wondered about him... and no, I won’t say anything more, in case you haven’t read this series yet ;) but if you haven’t, definitely pick it up ;) because Sarina Bowen is a phenomenal author... her writing style is a perfect mix of funny and emotional... so after absolutely loving the first two books, both of them can be read as standalones by the way, I cannot wait to see what she has planned for Zach ;)

Are you guys ready for another fantastically written contemporary romance that will make you swoon? ;) because if so, I have one just for you ;) „Thief of hearts” by L. H. Cosway is book #5 in her Hearts series, and a second novel when one of the Cross brothers is the main character... *sighs dreamily* I love them... ;) not to mention that after the ending of that previous book... I was counting down the days to the release of this one, so that I could finally be able to see what’s gonna happen... ;) L. H. Cosway is another great author and her books are always effortless reads... as in I cannot put them down, because trust me... there are always a lot of emotions in them... and in me when I read them ;) I can laugh and then tear up all in one chapter ;)

How about we change genres a bit? because „Hexbound” by Bec McMaster is the sequel in her fantasy / steampunk-ish series Dark arts and... as much as I enjoyed the first one, I was sooooo looking forward to this book ;) because the hero of this installment definitely made an impression in that first story... I am so not going to tell you exactly what I mean or even who I’m talking about, because trust me... those details would be too spoilerific ;) those stories are actually going to be quite connected, so if a mix of Victorian London with sorcery and all sorts of swoonworthy characters sounds like something you’ll enjoy, definitely catch up on that first book before the sequel ;)

Or maybe you’re in a mood for a sports themed romance? ;) then I have just the book for you ;) „Grasping air” by Carrie Aarons is book #2 in her Flipped series about gymnasts ;) and after absolutely loving the first one, I am more than curious about the couple in this installment... because we already met both of them... ;) and not only that, but they have a history between them... ;) and if you worry that because you’re not interested in the world of gymnastics or you know nothing about it, like yours truly ;) then you can stop ;) because the fantastic writing style of Carrie Aarons will pull you in from the very first chapter and kept you well entertained throughout the whole story ;)

Next stop is the conclusion to the lovely The wedding belles series by Lauren Layne, „To love and to cherish” ;) each book tells the story of one of the wedding planners in this small but very exclusive and amazing company ;) and again, as much as I loved all the previous stories, it’s the main couple in this book that kept drawing my attention to them ;) and since I love the writing style of Lauren Layne... seriously, with each book of hers I read I get more and more sure about it ;) I cannot wait to see what she prepared for... well, I can’t tell you their names... ;) in case you haven’t read the series, I will leave that lovely surprise for you to discover along the way ;)

Now I will mention the one book I won’t be getting ;) and actually the one book I’m not sure if it will actually be published in october ;) but so far the release date says it will, so I’m gonna go with it ;) „Managed” by Kristen Callihan is the second book in her VIP series and my oh my... ;) this is the third series written by her that I read and each of them are very different but at the same time equally awesome ;) this particular one tells stories of members of one rock band, or in case of this installment, their manager ;) and if the inspiration for his appearance is David Gandy... Google him, you’re welcome ;) I am more than happy to have such a great imagination ;) and of course to see what the lovely author prepared for him... I am NOT that shallow ;)

Last but definitely not least... again, I need to really stress out the fact that there is NO order in the books I’m mentioning ;) is „Hard to fall” by Marquita Valentine, book #4 in her Take the fall series ;) it’s a fairly new author for me... in fact I read only one of her other books, the one before this ;) but I really loved it, so when I got a message from the publisher that the newest installment in this series is available to review I was all like *HELL YEAH* ;) especially since we actually got to know both main characters in that previous book I read ;) and as much as I liked the hero, I fell in love with the heroinÄ™ from the very first scene she was in... so I was more than happy when I learned that she will get the next book... and when I got the news I will be able to get an ARC version of it? pure happiness ;) I cannot wait to read it and share with you all my feelings... ;)

Review: "Going the distance" by Mila Rossi

Author: Mila Rossi
Book 1 in series No excuses
Main characters: Trent "The Punisher" Page and Samantha "Sam" Wellington

I got a free copy of this fun novella from the author, and I quite enjoyed it ;) I read only one of her other books, actually one written under the pseudonym Alice Lake and really liked that historical romance, so when she approached me with a proposition to read one of her contemporary stories, I was definitely interested ;) since it’s a shorter read, my review will be a bit on the shorter side as well... after all, you don’t want me to spoil you every little detail of the book, right? ;) so how about before I go into all my thoughts and feelings, I will tell you a bit more about our main couple and the whole story between them ;)

Sam and Trent... *sighs* what can I tell you about them... ;) they definitely have a very memorable first encounter... he is having one of the worst nights in his life, and when he tries to pick her up in a bar in Las Vegas, where she is spending annual girls weekend with her friends, he doesn’t do a very good job... to be honest, he acts like a total jerk, so I am not blaming her for slapping the hell out of him... ;) I kid you not, she does it... I told you it’s a memorable encounter ;) but don’t worry, he’s not acting like that the whole book... he doesn’t magically change in the next chapter or anything, but I definitely ended up really liking him, so there’s hope for you as well ;) so imagine her surprise, and utter dread when after coming home she discovers that she has to get an interview with him, because her job depends on it... because little did she knew, he’s a famous boxer, who actually on the day they met lost his first fight... so you can imagine how awkward their next meeting is... ;) but she is very determined to get him to say „yes” so she comes up with a plan... a plan that involves them meeting for a few times over a span of few weeks... ;) and that is all I’m gonna say about the plot of the book ;) theirs is a relationship full of contradictions... on the one hand, it’s slow burn... they don’t see each other very often, and things change slowly between them... on the other hand there are moments of total and unexpected heat and attraction ;) but what I love about those moments is how Sam reacts to them ;) she totally acknowledges that it’s pure attraction, and that she really shouldn’t feel that way because she doesn’t even like him ;) at least not at first ;) because the more time they actually spend together, the more they start to like one another ;)

Overall I really liked this book ;) the writing style was good, which made reading this story very easy... and trust me, that is not the case every time ;) writing style is actually the first thing I judge when I read a book... cause I can have troubles with the plot or characters, after all we like to read about different types of people and we have personal preferences for a reason ;) but when the writing style is good, it makes everything better ;) that’s why even though Trent annoyed me at the beginning I kept reading... ;) I was curious what’s gonna happen next ;) and even though the actual resolution felt a bit rushed, even for a novella, I liked it ;) it was a fun and uncomplicated book, without lots of drama and angst, so if this story sounds interesting to you, definitely give it a try ;)

Review: "60 days" by J. L. Leslie

Author: J. L. Leslie
Title: "60 days"
Book 2 in series Morgan family
Main characters: Weston Fein and Blake Morgan

I got the ARC of this book from the lovely author in exchange for an honest eview and I have to say... I have some very mixed feelings about it... I ultimately gave this book 3,5 stars and I will do my best to tell you why I feel that way without actually spoiling you everything that happens in this story, which is not very long... so I will try and do something a little bit different than what I usually do... I will focus on my feelings about the characters and the story instead of all the little details... :)

So first, a bit of a background about the main characters... :) Blake is not happy at the beginning of the book... she is in a very peculiar situation with her current boyfriend... and no, I'm not gonna tell you what is it exactly, you don't want to be spoiled ;) when they break up, she spends more and more time with Weston... they were friends for a very long time, but now, it turns into something more... again, I don't want to go into more details, because since the story is not very long, to tell you more I would have to share the majority of the plot :) so I will jump straight into talking to you about our main couple :) and I have to start with Weston, because I really liked him :) he was such a fun character, but I think that my love for him was bigger just because of the way I felt exactly the opposite about Blake... *sighs heavily* I did NOT like her... at all... initially I thought that it was because I got sick when I started reading this book... I caught a cold and everything irritated me... so I took a short break from reading this book, hoping it will all pass... unfortunately, that was not the case.. cause I read other books while I ws sick that I absolutely enjoyed... and all of that was confirmed when I recently got back to reading this story and Blake was still annoying... *sighs* I didn't like her choices, and I am talking about her choices throughout the whole book... because I have nothing against a character who might annoy me at the beginning but then he / she grows and changes and by the end of the book I totally love them ;) but with Blake... I liked her just fine as a secondary character in the first book of this series, but as a heroine of her own story... she was just not my kind of a character...

But that's just fine :) after all, our personal preferences are called "personal" for a reason :) and don't get me wrong, I still liked the writing style very much, and I am more than curious about the third book in this series :) not to mention all others I haven't read by this author... it's just... this particular story and heroine wasn't for me... she didn't "click" with me, I couldn't understand her choices, or the way she treated people... or let other people treat her... *sighs* I'm just gonna stop talking about her, because I don't really like to focus on the bad things in books I read ;) so instead of doing that, I will finish my review by saying that even though it's the second book in a series, it can totally be read as a standalone... or you can just skip it if it sounds like something you won't enjoy ;) but I definitely encourage you to form your own opinion, because who knows... you might just fall in love with this story... after all, I saw quite a few 5 stars ratings out there... ;) and that's what I love about books :) we all respond to the same story in so many different ways :) but as long as we stay respectful of other people opinions, we should be just fine ;)

Book trailer

Excerpt

I furiously stomp to the side table, grab my keys, and storm out of my apartment, forgetting that I’m dressed in only a long T-shirt and panties.
My eyes zone in on my neighbor’s door where the loud music is coming from.
Ugh!
I have no idea whom I’ll be dealing with, whether a drug dealer or an ax murderer, but that doesn’t prevent me from banging my fist against the wood of this asshole’s door.
I feel the wrath of a dragon burning through my veins, especially as I continue to knock on the door—or more accurately, aggressively imprint my fist into the wood—waiting for someone to hear me over the racket.
This is what happens when you wake mama bear up; she turns vicious.
Finally, after my hand becomes numb from the consistent banging, the music suddenly stops, and the door swings open. I’m on the guy before he can finish opening the door, but I don’t miss the way his eyes lazily fall down the length of my body in my barely there T-shirt.
“Do you know what time it is?” I shout. I don’t give him a chance to reply as I continue with my irrational rant, “It’s two in the morning. Two! That mind-numbing noise you call music has not only woken me up, but also my six-year-old son! Who in their right mind plays music at this time of night? It’s inconsiderate to your neighbors, especially ones who have just moved in. Thank God staying here is only temporary, and I don’t have to live across the hall to an asshole like you for long. Seriously, it’s too early for this shit!” I finish a little breathless. I was more abrupt than I needed to be.
As the silence lingers between us, I shift uncomfortably at the intense gaze that burns into me from a set of blue eyes greedily taking in my lack of clothing. I have the urge to pull my T-shirt further down my naked legs, but instead, I stand tall and stare him out, feigning confidence when I’m trembling inside and my heart is racing.
Shit, what if this guy is a drug dealer or a murderer?
As my rage simmers and dissolves into fear, I finally take in the guy with the shit taste in music, and that’s when I realize he’s dressed just as indecently as I am. He’s in only a pair of shorts, and his messy dark brown hair looks as if someone put their hands through it a couple of hundred times, telling me that I’ve, no doubt, interrupted a sex session.
At that thought, through no fault of my own, my eyes instinctively drop down to his chest. That’s when I see how incredibly ripped he is, and his skin is decorated in various tattoos. I can’t help but follow the continuous patterns of art that cover both arms, noticing that one is Captain America’s shield tearing from out of his skin. The unique tattoos carry on over his right shoulder, along the center of his chest, and down his stomach. I continue lower, and it’s not until my gaze begins to drift to the V of his hips and the tattoos that fade into his shorts when I quickly avert my eyes.
My hackles rise again when I see a subtle smirk curling his mouth.
“Well?” I question, wondering why the hell he’s just watching me with an amused smile. When the silence continues and he doesn’t utter a single word, I huff in annoyance, my anger simmering again. “Fine! Don’t apologize, but do not come to my door when you need a cup of sugar! Good night,” I bite out before turning on my heels and heading back in the direction of my apartment.
Strange sensations of shivers erupt up my spine at the feel of his stare searing into my back. The heightened awareness throws me off-balance and quite frankly terrifies me, but I push the inexplicable feeling away and focus on getting the last word in. “Oh, and keep the goddamn music down!”

Random ramblings of a bookworm ;) #32

Song of the moment
The movie
And
Little revelation about fantasy books

Ok you guys... :) I am seriously cutting it closer and closer each week with writing and editing my #RandomRamblings posts... ;) but what can I say? after working all week, when the weekend comes there are soooo many things I want to do... or should I say read... ;) and after all, there is a definite amount of hours in a day ;) but somehow I'm always able to get it done in time... sometimes barely, but it still counts ;) so how about we will dive straight into all my babbling this week ;) and once more, I will totally embrace the chaos, which can be my life theme recently ;) and start in the middle of those headlines :)

I saw "The magnificent seven" on friday and really enjoyed it :) I wasn't sure what to expect to be honest, and I have to say I was surprised by how much I loved it :) it was an absolutely entertaining friday evening ;) I'm gonna leave a trailer below, you should watch it and maybe it will be something you'll enjoy as well ;)

Another thing I wanted to share with you is a song that has been stuck in my head for the last few days :) it resonates with me for so many reasons, that you will never hear, because they are too personal ;) but I'm sure that some of you may suspect some things after listening to it ;)

And last but not least I had a smals revelation last week, when it comes to fantasy books :) I should never start a standalone book, or the first book in a new series for me, if said book have this fantasy-ish vibes... as in, it's set in a new world, with tons of rules and unusual stuff... during the work part of my week... because people... I have no way of really diving into it and learn everything during that first part, so that I can really enjoy the rest of the book... I just end up reading it for what feels like forever, because a chapter here and there is not really working in those cases... ;) I don't have that problem with new installments in series I already know, because even if I forget some details, it's very easy to slip right back into it... or if they are just contemporary books, set in our world :) then I can read one chapter at a time and enjoy it immensly... but new ones... *sighs* I learned the hard way, that I need to at least read half of them during the weekend, or else I end up reading them for the whole week... :) what may not feels like long for you, but for me it felt like forever... ;) lesson learned ;)

Ok, that's a wrap people :) hope you enjoyed my short #RandomRamblings post :) I am really working on making them longer, mainly by doing another book tag, but I honestly don't have the amount of time it takes me to prepare that kind of a post right now :) but it will come... at some point in the future ;) mainly because I really love doing them, and it gives you lots of great book recs in one place :) so I promise you will see them in the future :) as always, you know how much I love to connect with you guys, so be sure to leave a comment here, on my Facebook page or Goodreads account :) I also have Instagram and Twitter accounts but I am much less active there... there are only so many hours in a day I can spend on social media, and somehow those two are usually at the end of my list ;)

Review: "Broken forest" by Eliza Tilton

Author: Eliza Tilton
Book 1 in series Daath chronicles
Main characters: well... about that ;)

I got my hands on a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review and I have to say that I'm intrigued... ;) I was definitely in the mood to read something a little bit different, so this young adult fantasy novel really landed on my kindle just at the right time... ;) it was my first book written by this author, but it left me curious enough to go back and read the rest of the series... so it's very fortunate that the second installment is already on my kindle ;) but I would love to see what else she has written :) I definitely enjoyed this story... maybe it didn't blew me away or wowed me to the point that I will shove it in your face repeating "read it... read it now" but I gave it 4 stars for a reason ;) my review will be a little bit on the shorter side because there is a lot of things I can't tell you about this book :) after all, I don't want to spoil you all the surprises along the way... ;) but I will do my best, as always, to share with you my thoughts and feelings :) but let's start with a little bit of informations about the story and the characters, shall we? :)

This book is told from three perspectives... :) we have Avikar, a young man, who still feels guilty and blames himself for the death of his little brother a few years back... he used to dream about leaving his home and achieving more than just helping his family with the farm... he still thinks about it, but now he doesn't feel that he deserves it... he was actually my favourite of the three characters :) I think he also had the biggest part in the story, although that may be just connected to the fact that I liked him the best and not necessary to the fact that he had the longest chapters ;) I didn't really count the pages so I can't be sure ;) then we have Jeslyn, his younger sister... when she's kidnapped, he goes on a rescue mission with Derrick... more about him in a minute :) and I don't know what it was exactly about her, but I couldn't really connect to her... yes, there were moments when I really felt for her, but the majority of the time... especially in the second half of the book, I either didn't like what she did or my reaction was "what the WHAT are you doing?!?" :) I hope I will like her more in the second book, but so far I am not a fan... and last but not least there's Lucino... he is... well... "villain" is not the perfect word to use to describe him, but I can't really tell you more about him, so we're just gonna have to go with the "villain" of the story :) he's this very mysterious character from the start of the book, and we get to know only a bit more about him, who he is and what his plans are... :) I don't want to say that I like him, but I am definitely curious about what's gonna happen with him in the future :) and yes, I know I'm being super vague, but I really can't tell you more without some huge spoilers, so you're just gonna have to forgive me for the lack of details :) besides those three main characters, there are of course a bunch of secondary ones, but again... the importance of some of them is definitely a spoiler, so I can't share with you guys their identities... :) the only one I can name here is Derrick :) he's Avikar's best friend and Jeslyn's... "boyfriend" is the closest word I can come up with to describe what is between them :) very close to the beginning of the book Jeslyn is kidnapped and Avikar and Derrick go after her... that's pretty much everything I can tell you about the plot... :) not because there's nothing more, because trust me... there is ;) but all those details contain a lot of unexpected turns or surprising reveals that would spoil you all the fun ;) so I'll leave them for you to discover while you read and instead try to tell you a bit more about my feelings about this story :)

I definitely enjoyed this book :) although it took me a while to understand the world... it feels like we dive straight into the story, and the explanation part is coming along the way... so we get to know bit by bit, more and more about the lands and the characters with each chapter, but it definitely takes some time... :) on the one hand it's a good thing, because you are not overwhelmed by the huge amount of informations thrown at you within the first few chapters... but on the other hand it might be a bit harder to really get into the book because of that... there were definitely parts near the beginning when I got confused and needed a moment to sort things through, but the more you know the easier it gets :) I already told you everything that I can about the characters in this story :) and yes, there are quite more I would love to share with you, but since I don't want to spoil you who is important, I can't tell you about certain secondary characters that caught my attention ;) the writing style was definitely interesting and I am intrigued enough to want to go back to this world and see what's gonna happen next :) so if you are in the mood for a little bit different story then definitely give this one a try ;)

Random ramblings of a bookworm ;) #31

No tutoring
Songs of the moment
And
The best monday surprise ever

Well hello there my awesome people... :) you are very lucky today, because I was this close *holds two fingers really really close to one another* to not write my #RandomRamblings post this week... *gasps* I know, I know... but I've had a very crazy week at work and then to top that off, I got sick... *sighs* fortunately I'm finally starting to feel better so I decided to be a good blogger and not let you down... although I have no idea if you guys would even notice if one of my #RandomRamblings post was missing from its usual monday date... ;) anyway... let us dive straight into my babbling, and this time I'm gonna embrace the chaos and start at the very end of the headlines ;)

Soooo... I had the best monday surprise ever last week... :) "Stay the night" paperback copy written by the lovely Cora Cade landed in my mailbox :) let me give you a bit better explanation... ;) after reviewing "Tapped", which I got after signing up for a blog tour, I wrote to her, because I loved the story sooo much I needed to let her know that :) we started exchanging e-mails, and she even offered to send me all of her other books to review :) see? told you she's a wonderful person ;) and a few weeks ago she reached out to me to ask if I would be interested in receiving a paperback copy of one of her books... I was like "HELL YEAH!!!" ;) but I added that the shipping cost might be too much, since we live on two different continents :) but she said not to worry about it so I of course sent her my address immediately... and then a week later totally kicked my own ass for not asking her to sign the book *facepalm* ;) and it was my sister J who pointed out my stupid mistake... *sighs heavily* so imagine my joy when I opened up the package and the book was not only singed, but also came with a lovely note and bookmarks :) I am not adding pics here, because I am saving those babies for my first book haul, that will happen in around two weeks, when all the books I ordered to celebrate my first paycheck will arrive ;) don't worry, it's only like seven of them... I'm not crazy... ;)

Now let's skip to the beginning of the headlines... you may or may not know that about me, but I used to tutor math and english a bit... and I planned to continue to do just that even after I started working... unfortunately the reality really quickly proved to me, that that's just not gonna happen... ;) I was not able to fit in work, my blog, tutoring and actually having some free time to, you know... live my life and stuff ;) so since I financially don't need to count every penny, I decided to resign from my tutoring sessions, to try to have a better balance in my life... :) now I need to work on incorporating some sort of physical activity into my schedule, because sitting behind a desk all day is not really good for me ;) but it's a task for another day... very soon, but not today ;)

Last but not least, I wanted to share with you guys some songs that are stuck in my head... ;) those five are the first five songs on my "favourite" list on my iPod and I love all of them... :) so instead of sharing one each week or something like that, I decided to give you all of them today ;) I know that they are not all like super new or anything, but I don't really care ;) maybe you'll discover something fun ;) happy listening :)

Ok, that's a wrap people :) as always, just a quick reminder that I absolutely love to connect and talk to you guys, so be sure to leave a comment here, on my Facebook page or Goodreads account :) I'm there every day :) you can always try my Twitter or Instagram accounts as well, but I am much less active there :) just a fair warning :)

A widow at just twenty-eight, love is something Andie hasn’t considered a part of her life for a very long time. However, when lingering touches turn to whispered words and hot, searching stares, she begins to wonder if maybe she should take a leap of faith.

But Stu is in her class for a reason, and it has nothing to do with love. He’s there to burrow his way into her life and repay a debt, otherwise his family will suffer. Andie is the first person to show him true kindness since he left prison, and though he doesn’t want to mislead her, he doesn’t have another choice.

Before long, Stu can’t tell whether or not he’s acting anymore, and his feelings for Andie could throw all of his carefully crafted plans into complete and utter disarray.

Random ramblings of a bookworm ;) #30

Book detox
DNF-ing and raising standards
And
Future book hauls

Hello my awesome people :) can you believe that it's already my #RandomRamblings post #30?!? :) I can't believe it's been thirty weeks already :) anyway... :) this time we're gonna go with the order of the headlines so let me tell you about...

My book detox :) like I mentioned to you on more than one occasion lately, I've been coming closer and closer to that time, when I will finally catch up with all the ARCs that I have... and that day finally came last week :) *cue angels singing and all that jazz* ;) unfortunately for me as a reader, once I got there, I felt like I needed a break... so I decided to give myself a few days without any books whatsoever... *gasps* I know, I was shocked too ;) but I really needed a break... reading so much and with all the deadlines hanging over my head... it was tiring... *sighs* but it turned out, that I needed only a few days to make it all better :) so even though three days might not sound like much to you guys, for me it was a super long time without reading anything :) but I definitely needed it... because now I feel energized and ready to read all over again :) but this whole situation made me realize that I need some changes... and it's actually connected to the second part of the headlines...

Because after that break I had a not so good return to reading over the weekend... I DNF-ed two books in two days *sighs heavily* I really hate to do that... there is a reason why I always do quite a lot of research before accepting a book or singing up for one or just picking one up in general... I have too little time to read to waste it away on mediocre stories and annoying heroes or heroines... but sometimes I stumble upon such a book either way... and lately with my new job and everything, I REALLY don't have time to waste... so I decided to raise my standards a bit and instead of forcing myself to finish a bad book, or just a book that's not working for me, I will just stop reading it :) if that will be the case, this book will go on my DNF shelf on Goodreads, and it will be only there that you can read my very short review why I chose to abandon the book... I won't be posting it on my blog, because I don't like to concentrate on things I didn't like so if you ever want to check those books, you can find that shelf right -> here <- :) if the situation would be different and I'd had more time, I would probably power through and finish those books... but to be honest, I have too many amazing books on my tbr #BookMountain to waste my very limited time available for reading on something that does not hold my interest... if you happen to find on that shelf some books that you enjoyed, or even something that you absolutely loved, please don't hate on me... that's just my opinion :) if you loved the book, I'm really happy for you :) but it just wasn't my cup of tea :) #SorryNotSorry :)

And last but not least, let us finish with something super positive :) I got my first paycheck a few days ago and can you guess what I did first? if your answer was "buy books" then you are 100% correct :) I actually bought seven of them :) #NoRegrets ;) so you can definitely look forward to a little book haul when they will arrive :) not to mention that since I have a stable income now, this situation is definitely gonna keep repeating on a regular basis as well ;) I will just have to put some sort of limitation on myself, so I won't spend everything I have on books... no Anna, you can't spend ALL your income on books... you need food and stuff as well ;) #BookWormProblems ;) I'm sure you can understand my struggle ;)

Ok people, that's a wrap :) I hope you enjoyed my babbling this week :) and as always, you know how much I love interacting with you, so be sure to leave a comment here, on my Facebook page or Goodreads account :) I also have Instagram and Twitter accounts, but to be honest, I am not very active on there... I keep promising myself to remedy that situation, but day after day goes by and... oh well... ;) it WILL happen at some point ;)

Review: "Rookie move" by Sarina Bowen

Author: Sarina Bowen
Title: "Rookie move"
Book 1 in series Brooklyn Bruisers
Main characters: Leonardo "Leo" Trevi and Georgia "Gigi" Worthington

I got the ARC of this fantastic book from the lovely author herself and I couldn’t be more happy about it, because Sarina Bowen is definitely one of my all time favourite authors... and with each book I get more and more sure about this ;) she has this wonderful ability to write books that are not only hilarious and hot, but also touch upon some very serious subjects without being too judgy... in a way that makes you think about them without forcing just one opinion onto you... and I love that about her books ;) each and every one of them I read so far has been a great experience for me, and that is saying something, because all of them were very diverse... and the same happened with this story ;) so how about I will tell you a bit more about it? ;)

Georgia and Leo were high school sweethearts ;) you might remember Leo from Sarina’s other series The ivy years ;) especially from „The fifteenth minute”, where his younger brother DJ was the main hero ;) but if you haven’t read those books... or just that final one like yours truly ;) fear not, because this story works perfectly well as a standalone ;) you will get all the necessary informations so that you can enjoy this book even if it would be your first dive into the amazingness that is Sarina’s writing style... ;) ok, but back to our main couple ;) they were together in high school, but after one tragic event during their senior year, everything changed between them... and Georgia broke up with him on graduation day... I know I’m being vague, but I don’t want to spoil you things, especially since I’m not sure if they were mentioned in other books or are they brand new knowledge... ;) now it’s six years later, and Leo is transferred to play in Brooklyn Bruisers hockey team, where Georgia handles PR ;) and even after all this time they can’t pretend that there’s nothing between them ;) and I can’t really blame them, since they are both pretty great ;) yes, what drove them apart was hard, but now they are older and wiser… although that last part is not always true... ;) but I absolutely loved seeing them together ;) to witness how much they still mean to each other... the banter and the chemistry was absolutely great ;) a bit awkward at first and then it got better and better with each day ;) it was definitely a second chance romance worth reading ;) even if sometimes both of them acted stupid, I could understand why they did what they did... plus, that ending was absolutely sweet :)

Besides our main couple we of course had a bunch of secondary characters ;) and I loved seeing all the new faces because there is sooo much potential for future stories here... ;) and I can’t wait to read them all ;) I think my personal favourite was Becca, Georgia’s roommate ;) she was such a fantastic character ;) funny and supportive and just a pleasure to read ;) I’m definitely hoping to get her book at some point in the future ;) but I will take one about Patrick O’Doul with pleasure instead ;) because the captain of the team is next in line ;) he and the lovely Ari will get their turn at the beginning of next year ;) I need to mention two more people ;) Nate, the owner of the team and a super rich tech genius :) and Silas, Leo’s new roommate ;) they were both very entertaining for different reasons that I won’t spoil you here, because it’s really better if you discover them on your own while reading the story ;) but this book is definitely filled with amazing characters that only add to the awesomeness of it ;)

All in all I absolutely loved this book ;) I know, what a shocker... ;) but it was really good ;) I expected nothing less from Sarina Bowen though ;) her writing style is always flawless and pulls me in from the first chapter ;) and this story was exactly like that ;) from the beginning I was cheering on the characters and enjoying all the interactions... some of them took some time to form, but it was sooo worth it ;) so if you are already a fan of Sarina’s books, or if you are only now discovering the amazingness that she is, be sure to give this book a try ;) the phenomenal writing style, loveable characters, all sorts of different connections and relationships... and by that I mean not only romantic ones, but friendships as well.. :) *sighs happily* it made this book such an entertaining and sweet read... I highly recommend it for all of you :)

Review: "Locked" by Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine

Authors: Ella Frank and Brooke Blaine
Title: "Locked"
Book 2 in series PresLocke
Main characters: Ace Locke and Dylan Prescott

I got my hands on the ARC of this fantastic book in exchange for an honest review and I couldn't be more happy about it :) ok, first things first... it's one of those series when all books concentrate on one couple, so you really need to read "Aced" before diving into this one, but trust me... it's a phenomenal book so if you haven't already read it, you are seriously missing out :) it's a hot and hilarious story with surprisingly emotional moments as well and it blew my mind... so imagine my joy when I read this sequel and loved it even more... but fair warning, to all of you who are new to this series... I will be spoiling you some things from the first book... nothing from this new installment, but if you haven't read "Aced" yet you might wanna avert your eyes and go buy that first book instead ;) to all of you who stayed with me, let's start :)

Ok, since it's the sequel about the same couple, I'm assuming that all of you who are still with me know the basics about the characters :) but let me refresh your memory if you missed some details ;) Ace is a big action movie star who came out as gay about a year ago... now he's filming a sequel to one of his hits, and on the set he meets the guy he was crushing on... a model from a very yummy billboard he stops by every day... and it's not on his way to work or anything... so yeah... the picture is that good ;) Dylan is an openly gay man, very comfortable with his sexuality, as oppose to Ace who is still struggling with it... when they met in person there is definitely an insane level of attraction between them and that first book was... *fans myself* I have no adjective to fully describe how hot it was... ;) I kid you not, it was one of the hottest books I have ever read and that is saying something ;) they were hiding in that first story, not wanting the world to know anything before they truly figure out what is there between them... but we all know how that ended... after an amazing weekend in Vegas, one of the paparazzi broke into their hotel room and took some photos of them only in towels... and the sequel picks right after that moment... we see how quickly the media frenzy begins... how they follow their every move, digging for more and more details about them and about Dylan... we see the consequences of that relationship, which suddenly turned into a very public one... and every one seems to have an opinion about it...

I don't want to say too much about the details of what is exactly happening in this story, because I certainly don't want to spoil you some gasp-worthy moments... and there are several of them in this story ;) what I will say is that you see how different those consequences are for Ace and Dylan... how people close to them react to all of that... and if you already read some other books written by this authors, you will definitely see a familiar face or two popping in for a scene here and there... ;) but don't worry, if you are new to their writing style, like yours truly ;) those scenes will just make you curious about reading their stories at some point, without feeling like you should have read those books before this one :) but I do have to admit, even though I absolutely loved the majority of those secondary characters, Ziggy and Sunshine, Dylan's parents, are still my favourite ;) for oh so many reasons I won't spoil here... ;)

I absolutely loved this book... which was a bit of a surprise for me... ;) let me explain... :) after totally falling in love with the first book, my expectations going into the sequel were insanely high... especially after that ending... :) which is a terrible thing, because the higher the expectations, the bigger the disappointment might be... so imagine my utter joy when this book was even better than the first :) I'm still not sure how that was possible, but it happened :) again, it was written in 2 POVs, which gave us an inside look into the minds of both main characters... and we all know how much I love that :) we got to know more about both of their families, who could not be more different... we saw how everyone handled the news about Ace and Dylan being together, when it got out into the world... but what I think I loved most about this book, is that there was no stupid and unnecessary drama between our main couple... yes, the situation they needed to handle was very hard, but they were doing it together... and witnessing that was truly amazing... the change in Ace, how more and more confident he grew... and just... I don't want to say more, because I don't want to spoil you all the little things, and some major ones, that are happening in this book, so I will end my review with this: that ending was absolutely beautiful... :) and even though it's not the end of their story... book #3 and conclusion to this series will go out next year... it will definitely make the wait much more pleasurable than the cliffhanger after the first one, that's for sure ;) so be sure to grab a copy of this wonderful sequel, or to start at the beginning if you are new to this series, because trust me... you need Ace and Dylan in your lives ;)

Excerpt

“You’re looking pretty serious over there, Daydream.” There was humor in his tone, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “You okay?”
I nodded slowly as I made my way over to where he sat. I reached for the phone and put it on the table, and when I cupped the side of his face and lowered my lips to his, I said, “I’m just great.”
Ace pulled away slightly and raised an eyebrow. “Great, huh?”
“Mhmm. I was just thinking…”
“Always a dangerous pastime,” Ace said, and brought a palm up to lay it directly over my heart, and I wondered if he could feel it thudding.
“No. Not this time,” I said.
“No?”
“Nope. I was just thinking how wonderful you are.”
“Okay, sweet talker—”
“I’m serious,” I said, bringing my other hand up so I was cradling his face between my palms. “I wish for one day you could be me, so you could see what an incredibly brave, sweet, extraordinary human being you are. You have so much, Ace, yet…you’re more generous and humble than anyone I know.”
“Dylan—”
“Shh,” I whispered against his lips. “I just wanted you to know that I…” I caught myself at the last minute as his eyes pierced mine and I was paralyzed by the enormity of emotions flooding me.
God, how is it that in twelve weeks this man has completely turned my world upside down? But he had. Ace had me wanting things…things I’d never even thought about before. Things I always assumed I would never want.
“You…?” he said, but my mind had changed course. The emotions had blurred and morphed into something else entirely, and then, quite unexpectedly, I asked, “Do you want kids?”
From the stunned expression on Ace’s face, I might as well have asked him if he were a serial killer. His eyes had widened and his mouth fell open, and he looked so bewildered I couldn’t stop the chuckle that bubbled out of me.
“Uhh…” he said.
He appeared so shell-shocked it made me laugh even harder. “I’m sorry…but you should see your face right now… I promise, I’m not pregnant.” When I began laughing again, Ace’s mouth snapped shut and he brought both his hands up to my wrists to encircle them and tug me down into the booth with him. He scooted across the seat until he was lounging back against the wall and I was awkwardly sprawled across him.
“Excuse me if you took me a little bit off guard,” he said.
“A little bit?”
“Okay, a whole fucking lot. But that wasn’t where I thought you were going with that at all.”
I aimed a grin his way, trying to play down the fact that I’d been about three seconds away from handing over more of me than I knew I could ever get back should Ace decide he didn’t—
“Hey?” he said. “Where’d you go?”
“Huh?”
It was Ace’s turn to chuckle. “What is up with you? You’re all over the place.”
I sighed, knowing that he was right. Maybe it was like a postproduction crash or something. But I felt oddly sentimental. Like all of my feelings were right there on the surface.
I stroked my fingers down his cheek. “I just think you would be an amazing father, is all. And I was curious.”
He narrowed his eyes on me. “I don’t think that’s it at all, but to answer your question. Yes, I think one day and”—his eyes were so intent on holding mine then that there was no way I could look anywhere but at him, and his meaning was crystal clear before he even said it—“with the right person, I would definitely consider having kids. What about you?”
“I never really thought I would, considering where I came from and all. But…” I chewed on my lower lip, suddenly wishing I’d kept my damn mouth shut.
“But?”
My eyes locked with his and I decided it was now or never to really just lay it out there. “But watching you today on set made me think about what-ifs.”
The grin that curved Ace’s mouth then was cheeky, and for the first time since we’d entered the trailer, his eyes lit with the same amusement his smile was conveying.
“Are you trying to say you want me to knock you up? Because, Dylan, I have to tell you, I have some pretty powerful boys at work, but no amount of horny goat weed is gonna make that happen.”
It was my turn for my jaw to drop then, and when Ace started laughing his ass off I punched him in the arm. “Dick.”
“Aww, but you just said I was wonderful.”
“A wonderful dick.”
“But not magical enough to get you pregnant.”
“Would you stop saying that. You’re freaking me out.”
Ace’s rumble of laughter vibrated through him as he wrapped his arms around my waist, and finally, after a minute or two, when his mirth had subsided, he stroked a hand down my back to my ass and pulled me as close as was possible while wearing clothes.
“It’s okay to look at the future and think about what might be, Daydream.”
I laid my head against his shoulder and shut my eyes. “I know. This is all just happening so fast. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to believe it’s real.”
I felt his lips at my temple and then he whispered, “It’s real. So believe it. Plan it. Trust it."
I nodded and then angled my face to see him look up at me. He had a soft smile on his face, and for the first time all day he looked relaxed, and I knew that as long as we were together the future looked brighter than ever.
