Books I can't wait to get my hands on ;) july edition

Hello my awesome people ;) I can't believe we are at this time of the month again ;) the time when I share with you some of the books I've been highly anticipating ;) and july is a very special month indeed ;) well, special and a bit weird ;) why, you ask? don't worry, I'll tell you :) special, cause it's my birthday month :) and a bit weird, because I have 4 books to tell you about, but two of them I will actually read before the release dates, cause I was lucky enough to get ARCs of them... ;) so how about I'll just start with the books and explain everything in more details as I go, ok? ;)

So the first book I am highly anticipating is "Rock wedding" by incredibly talented Nalini Singh, book #4 in her Rock kiss series :) and no worries, all books in this series can easily be read as standalones :) it's a contemporary romance about the last member of a very popular rock band :) originally, it was supposed to be only a novella, but apparently the story of Abe and Sarah is too complicated and they needed a full lenght novel ;) no complaints from me about that ;) with Nalini's books, longer is always better ;) and to those of you who love this series as much as me, and worry that this is the last installment in it, rest assured... I've read on more than one occasion that there are going to be stories about brothers of a certain ex-rugby player in our future... ;)

The second book I can't wait to read is actually one of the ARCs I mentioned before :) "Steadfast" by Sarina Bowen is going to be a contemporary romance and book #2 in her brand new True north series :) I am assuming, that as with her other series, the books in this one can be read as standalones, but I highly recommend you to read "Bittersweet", book #1, because it was awesome ;) *sighs* such a fun read... ;) especially since the lovely Sarina has such an amazing writing style... you will fall in love within the first few chapters ;) by the time you're gonna be reading this post I'm either gonna be right in the middle of the ARC of this gem, or I already finished it ;) cause it just landed on my kindle and I can't wait to dive into it ;)

Another book I want to share with you is "To have and to hold" by Lauren Layne, book #1 in her new The wedding belles series :) and after reading the prequel novella I can't wait to read even more about the wedding planners :) and actually I already have an ARC of this lovely gem on my kindle and cannot wait to get to it very, very soon... ;) I am a fan of Lauren Layne's writing style and after getting some glimpses in the novella of a few future characters I am more than ready to dive into a full lenght novel :)

Last but not least I want to tell you about yet another contemporary romance I am very much looking forward to... do you guys see a theme this month? ;) and this one actually have a sports theme going on :) I'm talking about "Stroked" by Meghan Quinn :) ever since I read "Hustler" she co-wrote with Jessica Prince and loving every minute of it, I wanted to check out some of her other books, so why not start with a sexy swimmer...? why not indeed... ;) it might just be the perfect hot and hilarious mix for the summer ;)

Review tour + Giveaway: "My lady, my spy" by Sheridan Jeane

Author: Sheridan Jeane
Book 4 in series Secrets and seduction
Main characters: Frederick Woolsey and Josephine Harrington

Synopsis

He’s a spy— Certain truths aren’t his to share…

London, 1854 ~ Frederick Woolsy is Queen Victoria’s finest spy. His mission at the Russian Embassy’s annual ball is one of the most critical ones of his life, but his careful plans end in disaster. The book he was assigned to secure has been stolen and now England and Russia are on the brink of war. Even worse, the love of his life has caught him in another lie (he’s a spy, certain lies are expected). However, in this case, it might mean he’ll lose her forever.

She’s a lady who demands honesty– above all else

The nights Lady Josephine Harrington spent with Frederick in her bed were glorious… enough to tempt her to consider abandoning her independence as a wealthy widow to spend her life with him. Tonight, he canceled their plans to attend the Russian Embassy’s ball, saying he would be otherwise engaged. Now he’s shown up at the event with his brother. She’s not sure what he’s up to, but she’s going to find out…if she doesn’t eviscerate him first.

Secrets and lies…

He lives in a world of shadows. She values truth and integrity. If they want to find a future together, something has to change. Fast.

I read the ARC of this historical romance full of adventure in a day and I really enjoyed it :) although to be honest, I think I would enjoy it even more if I have read the previous books before this one ;) because there were moments when I could tell, that I was missing some informations ;) but don't worry, this book can work as a standalone as well, but it's very tightly connected to the previous one and may include some spoilers about the outcome of it, so beware... you've been warned ;) but for now, let us concentrate on this story :)

Josephine is a widow, who was slowly but relentlessly seduced by Frederick for quite some time, until she finally succumbed to his charms ;) but all of that actually happened before this book evan began... I am assuming that you can read about it in previous books, because I would love to see that :) and this story is sort of a second half of their relationship :) becasue after those few very memorable nights, Frederick starts to avoid her... he's actualy a spy, working for the Queen... :) dun dun duuuunnnn ;) sounds exciting, right? :) but that's beside the point ;) she detest lies and being lied to, so when she catches him doing just that one too many time... well, you can imagine how mad she is :) and rightfully so, I have to add :) not to mention, that from the very beginning of this book we are thrown in the middle of action, so there are a lot of things going on besides just the romance part :) but I do have to say, that I loved the mature way they actually handled it at the end... :) don't worry, no more details from me, so you won't be spoiled ;)

Like I mentioned before, the action starts from the very first chapter, because there is a book that a lot of people want, for very different reasons, and they are pretty determined to get it :) so there is a lot going on ;) besides our main couple, we have a bunch of characters that already got their own stories before and some with potential for future stories :) I am trying really hard to tell you stuff without actually spoiling you the details, so I'm sorry for being vague :) it's definitely on purpose :) this review will be a bit shorter than usual for that very reasons :) so instead of concentrating on the things I can't share with you, let me tell you a bit more about my overall impressions :)

I really enjoyed this book :) yes, it would probably be better if I read at least the previous story, before starting this one, if not the whole series ;) becasue there were moments when some events were happening and some characters were mentioned... and I am sooo very curious about them all :) but since the writing style was really good, I am definitely gonna go back to this series :) it was a very quick and entertaining read :) the unexpected turns of events definitely kept me glued to the pages, and even though I would love to read more about the romance between Josephine and Frederick, I liked what I saw about them in this story :) even though there were moments when I wanted to smack them, the majority of the time they actually acted like adults ;) so if you are looking for a historical romance with adventure, be sure to give this series a try ;)

Release blitz + Giveaway + Review: "Jackson" by Eve Jagger

Author: Eve Jagger
Title: "Jackson"
Book 4 in series Sexy bastard
Main characters: Jackson Masters and Skylar North

Synopsis

I thought I knew what I wanted.

The perfect life, the perfect wife.

And then I met Skylar.

Turns out what I wanted wasn't what I needed.

She's spontaneous, beautifully chaotic. She's an irresistible storm about to let loose. She dances like a fire-cracker and finds the sexiest ways to get in trouble. She breaks into buildings and knows all of Atlanta's best taco trucks. She doesn't check the boxes on my list--she blows my list out of the water.

I thought I knew what I wanted, but now all I want is her.

But our lives are so different. She's chasing adventure and determined to never settle down. I'm climbing the ladder to success, setting the groundwork for my ambition and the family that I hope to build. When our worlds come together, will they fit together or will they clash?

I received an ARC of this phenomenal book in exchange for an honest review and I am very happy I got my hands on that gem before the release date :) cause I loved it :) I will forever be grateful for the fact that the lovely Eve reached out to me a few months ago with a proposition to review her previous book :) I fell in love with her writing style and all the characters and this book was no exception... :) although my sister, J, claimed that I did not deserve to read it before everyone else.. ;) why, you ask? oh, I'll tell you ;) I still haven't read the first two books in this series... *hangs my head in shame" I know... I know... but I WILL get to them very soon :) they are on my list of 20-ish books that I'm reading first, once I'll dig myself out of all the ARCs I signed up for, and I am like two weeks away from doing just that :) but J didn't buy that explanation and she WAS giving me some very nasty looks every time she saw me reading this story :) but I love her anyway :) now that we have this little intro out of the way, let's get to all the awesome details of this book, shall we? :)

So first of all, our main couple :) I honestly didn't expect to love Jackson as much as I did :) I remember him from the previous story and... he was ok ;) but once I got to know him more, I was really surprised by how much I connected with him :) he's a successful architect who always have a plan... :) so imagine his, and ours as readers surprise, when Skylar catches his attention :) she's so full of live, living in the moment... :) well, it's not exactly shocking that he's fascinated by her... what's more shocking is that the feeling doesn't go away ;) they are like day and night :) but of course not everything may be as it seems... Jackson is not always a stiff, serious businessman with a plan... he can loosen up from time to time... and Skylar's story hides some very sad stuff... there is a reason why her motto is "live a little" and seizing the day... to the point where she tends to have small panic attacks when she feels cornered by thoughts about future and any sort of plans... but no spoilers from me :) they are a very explosive mix, so things definitely does not go smoothly between them... ;) but it's a wild ride that you absolutely want to be a part of :)

Besides those two, there is of course a bunch of other amazing characters :) since they are all friends, previous couples make appearances throughout the whole book :) and even if you are new to this series, getting glimpses of Ryder and Cassie, Cash and Savannah or Knox and Shelby will make you want to read their stories :) I don't want to go into too many details about all of them, because we would be here all day if I started to describe their awesomeness :) what you need to know is that all the guys, along with the fifth one, Parker, are business partners and friends :) the girls formed friendships of their own and all those group interactions are a fantastic addition to each book :) they give you a little insight into other characters and just make you curious to read their stories, if you haven't done that already :) but don't worry, each of those books can be read as a standalone, so it doesn't really matter where you start :)

I absolutely fell in love with this book :) again, it was written in 2 POVs and with that phenomenal writing style that I am already expecting from Eve Jagger :) I inhaled this book because I simply could not put it down :) it was a perfect mix of hilarious moments with much more emotional ones... I mean that prologue... it almost made me cry and I barely started the book... but that's just another sign of a talented author :) and even though I usually relate to the heroines more, this time it was Jackson who stole my heart... :) don't get me wrong, I absolutely adored Skylar, but Jackson... *sighs* I just wanted to hug him :) so no matter if you are already a fan of previous books written by Eve or you are brand new to her stories, definitely pick this one up :)

And the rest of this amazing series is currently FREE on KINDLE UNLIMITED so trust me... do yourselves a favour and give them a try :)

Book blitz + Giveaway + Review: "That first kiss" by J. C. Valentine

Author: J. C. Valentine
Book 2 in series Night calls
Main characters: Tate Larson and Piper Donovan

Synopsis

Mercurial and charming, Tate Larson is a rising author and playboy who has a different woman on his arm every night of the week. Focused on his work, Tate has no plans to settle down any time soon. That is until he meets his pretty new assistant, Piper Donovan.
Desperate to escape the promise of backwater living, Piper ditched her Alabama hometown and never looked back. That was almost two years ago. Now that she is out of a job and her bank account is running on fumes, she’s desperate to find a job, fast. She finds the break she is searching for when she lands a position at Bookish Temptations. A little dancing and a lot of drinks with the girls seem the perfect way to celebrate. After a brief but explosive encounter with a man she was never supposed to see again turns out to be the same man she will be bending over backwards to please, her every instinct tells her to run. But when running means leaving the life she has struggled so hard to create, Piper decides her only option is to continue working for the devastatingly sexy Tate Larson…even if it kills her.

Unable to deny their growing attraction, they struggle to keep their distance in a relationship that requires anything but.

I got an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review and I have to say... I have very mixed feelings... don't get me wrong, I loved the writing style, and even though it's a brand new author for me, I will definitely check out her other books... but the story itself... *sighs* the first half was really interesting, but the second one made me give this book ultimately only 3,5 stars... and it took me a while to gather all my chaotic thoughts to come to that conclusion, so let me tell you more about why I felt this way :)

So first, our main couple :) I actually really loved Piper... well, at least throughout the most of the story anyway :) she was this resourceful and sassy woman and I had so much fun reading about her and her take-no-s@#$! attitude :) we met her at the beginning of the book, when she's pretty desperate to find a job so she doesn't have to go back home... and fortunately she secures a position as a PA in a publishing company... :) little does she know at the time, that it's actually fortunate for her employer, cause the author that she will be assign to has scared and bullied away every predecessor in a record time :) but before she learns that, she goes out to celebrate with her friends... and that is when she has a very hot encounter with a stranger in a club... and by that I mean a steamy session in the bathroom ;) little does she know that... yeah, you guessed it... it's her future boss, the mysterious author ;) so you can imagine that first meeting :) Tate is a... how can I put it mildly... :) he's a very grumpy and unpleasant person... that is the nicest way I can describe him... :) and I didn't have much problem with that at the beginning... that is of course when I still expected some sort of character development to happen at some point... ;) unfortunately, it didn't... I felt like he remained the same type of person till the very end, and I couldn't really get why Piper wanted to be with him... he was this hot-and-cold type of guy, that didn't want to be with her, but acted all jealous and obnoxious when someone else got her attention... I'm not really a fan of that sort of behaviour...

Besides our main couple, we have a bunch of very interesting secondary characters as well :) there are Piper's friends, a few very entertaining women, and by checking out some other books in this series I know that some of them already got their stories :) and I am more than curious to get to know them even more :) there were of course a few more, but some of them are sort of a surprise along the way, so I won't spoil you who turns out to be important ;)

Overall I think my dislike of certain aspects of the book comes from my personal preferences :) because like I mentioned earlier, the writing style is really great :) even if I wanted to smack some sense into certain characters I absolutely enjoyed the way they were described... if that makes sense :) the first half of this story was very interesting and I was really looking forward to see how it will end... and I have nothing against a little bit of this push-and-pull dynamic, but only if it leads to something else after a certain point... and I had the impression that they were repeating the same pattern over and over again throughout this whole book... and ultimately I was disappointed because of that... but if you like those kinds of stories and / or those types of characters, by all means, try it out :) no judgement from me :) like I always say, our personal opinions about a book are just that... OUR opinions, and mine may be vastly different than yours :) that's why in my reviews I always try my best to describe to you guys how and why I felt a certian way about a story, characters or some events, but it's your choice to make whether you want to read the book or not :) so don't let mean people dissuade you from checking out something you are interested in :) yeah, do your research and check out reviews, ask your friends... but it's your decision in the end :) and as a fellow reader, I can only add... never be ashamed that you love a certain book... :) good #BookBesties will never belittle you for your choices :) ok, that took a very serious turn at the end here... :) so let me wrap this up before I get all philosophical on you ;) it was a definitely hot read... and I mean steaming and sizzling hot... ;) with a really great writing style... the direction that our main couple took wasn't exactly my cup of tea, but that's just a matter of personal preferences, so if the story of Piper and Tate sounds interesting to you, definitely give it a try :)

Excerpt

Where was his goddamn assistant? For the hundredth time, Tate Larson glanced to the door watching another suit enter and approach the counter to place his order.
Checking his watch again, Tate gritted his teeth and dropped his eyes back to the screen before him. So help him God. Felix promised he had found a good one this time. He swore this was the one. Foolishly, Tate had believed the man, though why he did was beyond him. The last dozen or so certainly hadn’t worked out, so why should this one? Was it too much to ask for a person to be on time these days? Well, Felix was going to be pissed to hear that he fired this one on the spot. He didn’t tolerate incompetence well.
The bell over the door chimed again, announcing another arrival. Pausing mid-sentence, his fingers hovering over the keys, Tate lifted his eyes to the door once more, pausing on the pretty little thing that stepped inside.
Dressed as a professional in a nice buttercream blouse and fitted pencil skirt, he was unable to keep his eyes from wandering over her luscious curves. She wasn’t as tall or slim as the women he normally chose, but there was just something about her that drew the eye. Maybe it had something to do with the woman he had hooked up with at the club over the weekend—lush lips, curvy body and bedroom eyes. Exactly the type of woman he went for and actively avoided.
He was still reliving that moment nightly, hell, daily.
He never should have kissed her. It went against his personal code of never kissing a one-night stand. But kiss her he had and now he was suffering the memory of that kiss and the way the woman tasted endlessly.
Glancing around, he noticed that half the men in the shop had paused what they were doing to take notice of the woman, too.
He watched curiously, studying her form, the way the morning sunlight created a total body halo making her look positively heavenly, the way her eyes darted around the room nervously, landing on each man only long enough to disregard them and move on. Hmm, why only the men, he wondered as those innocent brown eyes snagged on him.
Oh, hell no.
Tate straightened from his slouched position and dropped his feet from the chair in front of him to the floor with a dull thud.
It couldn’t be.
This had to be some kind of trick. Some sick twist of fate. Two things occurred to him at once: He was looking at the object of his current fantasies—the woman he had screwed in a women’s bathroom and hadn’t been able to shake from his memory since—and he was pretty damn sure she was his new assistant.
He knew she recognized him by the way her mouth dropped open in a small O and her brown eyes widened. She started toward him, her steps faltering only slightly before she visibly pulled herself together. His eyes narrowed as the woman stopped in front of his table and peered down at him.
“Hey, fancy meeting you again.” She smiled, showing off pretty white teeth that weren’t exactly perfect but still managed to set off her smile. His gaze lingered on her full, pouty bottom lip, remembering how it had tasted against his tongue.
“Yes, fancy that,” Tate replied tightly. “Piper was it?”
Dressed the way she was, looking the way she did, he never would have figured her for the business type. Judging from their first encounter, he pegged her as easy, just some bimbo, good for taking to bed and not much more.
Okay, that wasn’t entirely true. She seemed different from the women he normally screwed. Compelling him to kiss her was proof enough of that. Not that he would have minded taking this woman to bed, though. Hell, he already had her once bent over a bathroom sink, but he needed an assistant just now. What he didn’t need was the aggravation of working with a woman who he’d already slept with. Sitting back, he folded his arms over his chest and propped his foot up on the chair across from him.
“Ah, you remembered.”
“What can I say? I’m good with names, and I never forget a pretty face,” he replied smoothly.
She blushed, which oddly pleased him. Too bad he was going to have to wipe that pretty look off her face. “So, what are you doing here?”
“I’m supposed to be meeting my new assistant,” he said, looking up at her meaningfully, “but they’re late.”
Brows pinching, Piper frowned at him. He knew the exact moment that she put two and two together. “You’re Tate Larson?” she screeched.
He pursed his lips. “I am. Are you the assistant?”
She swallowed, her hands twisting nervously in front of her. “Yes, that’s me.”
“Good. You’re fired.”

Review: "The unquiet dead" by Chris Dubecki

Author: Chris Dubecki
Standalone, but... ;)
Main character: Tyler "Ty" Dufresne

I got my hands on the ARC of this amazing debut novel thanks to the publisher, who sent me one in exchange for an honest review :) and I have to say that I absolutely loved it :) it was another example of a newbie author, who totally surprised me with his fantastic writing style... :) unfortunately there will be no quotes today for you, cause it was really hard for me to pick something short, and not like three whole pages ;) that would show you the banter between characters and at the same time wouldn't spoil you some pretty improtant things :) but trust me when I say, that it was absolutely entertaining :) and since it's a debut novel, for now it's a standalone, so don't worry about cliffhangers and such, the... let's just call it "situation" is resolved in this book, but there are definitely open doors for future installments... and I am hoping there will be more :) and after you have a chance of reading about these characters, you'll want more too :)

So let me tell you a bit more about the cast of characters :) Tyler is definitely the main one :) the whole book is told from his perspective after all :) he is 19, and have been a necromancer for the last four years... there is actually a very... I wanted to say cool, but let's go with interesting or unusual instead ;) way of becoming one :) I'm not gonna tell you what it is... mainly because I don't want to spoil you stuff and also, because the explanations in the book are really good :) Ty is also a pre-med student, but what I think I love the most about him, beside his sarcastic humor ;) is that he is an openly bi character... and it's just... there... :) there are no struggles, no coming to terms with that... it's just one more feature about him... at one point in the book he says... and I just love this quote... "I'm attracted to people, not genders" :) you have no idea how happy that made me :)

Besides Tyler, there is a bunch of other characters... and they are definitely a diverse and very interesting bunch, let me tell you that... :) I'm not gonna tell you about every one... especially since we discover how important some of them are late in the book, but I will mention a few :) so we have Cassie, Ty's ex and current friend and Juan, her new boyfriend... there's also Kyle, another one of Ty's friend and his younger brother Zach... and I absolutely have to mention Trish... she's... well... it's complicated :) all of the people I mentioned are interesting for very different reasons... and we discover quite a few of those reasons throughout the book... that is why I will say nothing more about them here, so you'll have surprises along the way... and believe me, those few are just a part of a very large and diverse cast of characters... :) oh, I almost forgot about Davy Jones... :) he's Tyler's cat... well... not just a regular cat, but... again, no spoilers from me, you'll find out once you read the book :)

The action starts from the very first chapter... we are basically thrown right in the middle of it :) but fear not... :) Ty, even though he's been a necromancer for around four years, doesn't really know that much about this whole... paranormal side of the world :) so we kind of learn along with him :) and don't worry, the important informations are repeated a few times in the book, and not everything is dumped on you in the first chapters :) which is a very smart thing to do, cause it gives you time to absorb the informations... :) so just go with the flow and don't worry... you'll get everything at some point :) now about my impressions :) I really loved this book :) I adored the big and diverse cast of characters... the action... the rules of this world... well, the rules of the paranormal part of this world, cause the action takes place in Toronto, not in a mystical world :) I love how the story came together... and I especially love that after finishing it, I could see little things here and there that were put there for a reason... I know I'm being vague, but I don't want to spoil you accidentally... :) let me try again... :) for exmple a person is mentioned... or an event... and you think it's just there as part of a story that someone is telling, but it isn't until later that you discover how important it was... :) that is the best way I can describe it :) but I always love it when authors put something like that in their books... :) it really shows they do have a bigger picture in mind, and that everything is in its place for a reason :) I can wholeheartedly recommend this book, especially if you're in the mood for something with paranormal vibes, entertaining cast of characters and lots of action... then definitely give this book a try :)

Random ramblings of a bookworm ;) #19

Binge watching movies
Song of the moment
And
Movies... movies everywhere ;)

Hello there my awesome people :) it's a brand new monday and that means a brand new edition of my #RandomRamblings post as well :) this one is going to be another shorter one, but that's mostly because it's so hot right now that I can barely put my thoughts together to form sentences :) and that fact is actually connected to the very first part of the headlines ;)

Recently I've been watching movies like crazy :) me and my lovely sister J, have been binge watching all our favourite ones... :) and by that, I mean mostly animations and comedies... ;) it's the best kind of entertainment when you are slowly melting from the heat :) and today I want to mention to you two of them, in case you haven't heard about them :) the first one is a new discovery :) "Zootopia" was a phenomenal animation that I did not expect to love as much as I did :) in case you don't know what it's about, I have a trailer for you :)

And my second recommendation for you is a fantastic comedy :) "The other woman" is one of my all time favourite comedies :) I've watched it like six or seven times so far and it's still hilarious :) so if you need a good laugh, definitely give it a try :) I have a trailer of it as well for you :)

Maybe today we'll go with the order of the headlines, so now is the part about my song of the moment :) I don't know what it is about it, but I can't stop listening to it :) it goes on repeat curently when I'm doing stuff on my lovely Sascha (for those of you who might missed it before, Sascha is my brand new laptop, present for my upcoming birthday from my family, and yes, I totally named her :) #NoRegrets)

And now about that last part :) summer is my favourite movie time of the year, because the majority of the movies I want to see on the big screen have premieres during those months :) in fact, in the upcoming month, there are four of them that I hope I will see :) but instead of talking about all of them, I will just leave for you all the trailers :) like I said... it's really hot ;) don't make me think longer than I really have to ;)

That's a wrap people :) hopefully my next #RandomRamblings post will be longer, and the heat won't melt me :) as always, I love interacting with you guys, so be sure to leave a comment with your thougts, opinions, book recs here, on my Facebook page or Goodreads account :) and be sure to check out my blog on a regular basis, cause I have lots of great stuff prepared for you this week :)

Cover reveal: "Archangel's heart" by Nalini Singh

I am very excited to be a part of this cover reveal, cause Nalini Singh is one of my all time favourite authors ;) and here we are, talking about her newest addition to the Guild hunter series :) if you don't know it yet... and you really should :) it's a series that I would recommend for you to read in order, cause the events are pretty connected, even though each book follows a different story :) it's this paranormal / urban fantasy series with a phenomenal cast of characters, and that's all I can say, because if I start getting into how amazing it is and what happens in it, we will be here all day :) so if you are brand new to it, be sure to pick up "Angel's blood" and skip the rest of this post... or at least the synopsis part ;) and to all of you who know exactly what is happening... let us proceed to freak out over the awesomeness of that new book... ;)

Synposis

One of the most vicious archangels in the world has disappeared. No one knows if Lijuan is dead or has chosen to Sleep the long sleep of an immortal. But with her lands falling into chaos under a rising tide of vampiric bloodlust, a mysterious and ancient order of angels known as the Luminata calls the entire Cadre together to discuss the fate of her territory.

Accompanying her archangelic lover Raphael to the Luminata compound, guild hunter-turned-angel Elena senses that all is not as it seems. Secrets echo from within the stone walls of the compound, and the deeper Elena goes, the uglier the darkness. But neither Raphael nor Elena is ready for the brutal truths hidden within—truths that will change everything Elena thinks she knows about who she is…

Nothing will ever be the same again.

And now for that beautiful cover :)

Release blitz + Giveaway + Review: "Breaking skin" by Debra Doxer

Author: Debra Doxer
Standalone
Main characters: Cole Dempsey and Nichole "Nikki" Taylor

Synopsis

“Deep down, we all want a no-matter-what kind of love.”

Dancing is like magic. It makes me disappear. When I dance I’m not a sister or a daughter, not a lover or a friend. I exist in the moment, onstage, where I turn pain into art and pretend the illusion is real. My past is an abomination and my future is unwritten, but my present is pure, fluid, and focused. I’m content, or at least I think I am, until the night I meet a man who makes me want more.

He’s broken, just like me, but in different ways. He’s older and nothing like the men I’m used to. Compared to him, they’re all boys, immature and insipid, while he’s a force of nature, confident and virile. Virile is a word I’ve never used before, and I only use it now because he embodies it so completely.

At first, he fights the attraction between us almost as hard as I do. But when words like destiny and soulmate whisper through my thoughts, how can I ignore them?  He can have any girl he wants, but he looks at me as if I’m the girl he’s waited for his whole life. How can I tell him I’m not that girl?

I wish I were enough for him, wish I were whole. But beneath my facade, I’ve been falling to pieces for a long time, and I don’t know if I’m strong enough to resist the downward momentum.

Book trailer

First of all, let me just quickly say that I received the ARC of this hauntingly beautiful story in exchange for my honest review and I can concentrate on all the feelings it gave me... :) honestly, I signed up for it, because the synopsis intrigued me... but I absolutely did not expect that this story will be this... emotional and stunning... I have no quotes to share with you today, but that is in no way indication of the lacking writing style... just the opposite :) it was so beautiful, that for me to just pick a few sentences or part of a scene was simply impossible... without bigger context, those words would not convey all the emotions behind them... but make no mistakes, I was deeply moved by this book... now that we have this little intro behind us, how about I will try my best to tell you something more about this book that will convince you to give it a try, without spoiling you anything :)

I'm gonna start with our main couple :) Nikki is a 21-year-old ballerina, who meets Cole one night in a bar... she doesn't know it at that time, but he's eleven years older than her... there is a very hot attraction between them, and they spend the night together... but since the timing couldn't be more wrong in both of their lives, it ends only with that one night... that's the beginning of the book, and in the very next chapter we skip ahead two years, when they finally meet again :) but before I go into a bit more details about their slow building relationship, let me tell you more about them as individuals... I absolutely love books with flawed characters... I don't expect my heroes and heroines to be perfect... quite the contrary, their flaws and mistakes make them more human and real in my eyes... as long as a grown up person doesn't act like a spoiled brat, I'm more than ok with flaws :) and in this case both of our main characters have went throuh quite a lot in their respective lives and it took its toll on them... Nikki is numb and indifferent to most people and things, or at least she appears that way... there is a very dark story involving her and her family... I won't go into details, but you can sort of figure it out throughout the book, before finally learning all the details from her... Cole is an ex-hockey player fighting demons of his own... years of brutal sport changed him irreversibly... and that's just one of his problems... I don't want to go into too many details, because we get to know them both in the span of this whole book, so I'd rather you take that journey with them... it's definitely worth it :)

Besides that first night, theirs is actually quite slow building relationship... :) when they met that first time, both of them needed an escape from reality... and two years later they meet again under unusual circumstances... again, I can't get into too many details, I'm just gonna say this: Nikki is unexpectedly taking care of her niece, Langley, and Cole is the next door neighbour :) but since that whole situation is complicated, it's not like they fall into each other arms the minute they see one another ;) yes, the mutual attraction is definitely still there, but there's also everything else, the reality of all the differences between them and weight they carry on their shoulders... it's not easy, but with passing time, they realize how much more there actually is between them... and what started as a one night stand years ago, turns into a friendship, and then into something more...

Besides our main couple, there were quite a few secondary characters... I wasn't a fan of all of them, but each of them played a role in this story... I have to start with a person that I had the most problems with: Renee... she's Nikki's sister and... I have to admit I had troubles understanding her actions... although, I can't really judge her too harshly, cause she has a past of her own... it's all very complex and not easy to explain in a few sentences... then of course there's Langley, Renee's sister and Nikki's niece :) she was a sweet girl, who you just want to shield from some of the stuff she experienced and witnessed... there were of course much more people, but some of them I can't describe here, because they appear much later in the story... and some of them I'm just leaving out on purpose, so you'll have a wonderful surprise along the way :) but I do need to mention Siegfried... Nikki's dog :) I'm a sucker for dogs :) so each book that has a dog in it automatically gets additional points from me :) and this one was no exception :) he definitely was the scene-stealing hero in a few unexpected moments :)

I was going back and forth throughout this whole book, thinking about how I will write my review, how I will rate this story... and I have to say, I usually don't have this problems... but this time... this book... really did a number on me... in the best possible way ;) I absoltely did not expect the writing style to be so beautiful, raw and emotional... and we have chapters in 2 POVs so we can see into the minds of both our main characters... but besides that, the language, the way this author creates sentences... *sighs* she's a new discovery for me, and this is her first book I've read and it's always a gamble... you never truly know what to expect with a brand new author for you... you can read reviews, ask your friends about thier opinions, but ultimately you never know... and when you unexpectedly discover a beautiful gem... it's the best kind of a surprise... :) I did not expect to connect so much with the main characters... I did not expect to tear up at the beautiful ending... I did not expect a lot of things about this book... it really blew me away... was it perfect? absolutely not... there were times when I wanted to yell at the characters to do or say something else, but at the same time I understood why they were acting that way... I loved that there were no magical solutions for the very real problems and struggles all of them were going through... but what I loved the most is how honest and vulnerable this story was... I felt those raw emotions when I was reading it... my heart was breaking and aching for Nikki and Cole so many times... it was a hard and long journey, but it was sooooo worth it... I just hope I was able to convince you to try out this beautiful gem... I can wholeheartedly recommend it... :)

Be sure to grab a copy of this amazing gem :)

Release blitz + Giveaway + Review: "Love entwined" by M. C. Decker

Author: M. C. Decker
Standalone
Main characters: James Bentley Roberts and Ireland O'Brien

Synopsis

Are second chances possible in a world plagued with devastating loss, difficult obstacles and everyday commitments?

Having a very genuine understanding of death and grief, Ireland O’Brien has been able to put aside her anger and move forward with a career of helping orphaned children – making their lives better, even though she’s kept her own pain deeply buried within her heart.

Architectural engineer J. Bentley Roberts has also experienced his fair share of heartache. Nearly two decades ago, he suffered the loss of his role model and high school sweetheart in the same tragic accident. And, more recently, Bentley said goodbye to his marriage – leaving him to not only dust himself off, but also to help pick up his teenage son in the unsettling process.

As both of their best friends get ready to say their “I dos,” Ireland and Bentley find themselves together again after twenty years apart.

Will they be able to fight their past demons to finally find the love that’s always entwined them?

I received the ARC of this lovely second chance romance in exchange for an honest review and I'm very glad I requested it :) my review won't be very long, mainly cause the book itself is not long as well, and I don't want to spoil you anything... and things are moving pretty quickly, I'll tell you that ;) actually, it's the only complaint I have about it... that it was too short, and therefore some things happened faster than I would want... ;) but it's more of a personal preference ;) I would love to read more about how they got together... ;) and since we're on this subject, let me tell you more about our main characters :)

Ireland and Bentley actually met as kids... :) they became fast friends and then a lovely couple few years later... until a tragedy pulled them apart... after that, Ireland is taken away into the foster system and loses contact with him... it takes almost twenty years for them to reconnect... in an absolutely adorable coincidence, her best friend and his friend and business partner are getting married ;) so they meet again after all those years at their wedding and very quickly after that first meeting all the feelings are rekindled ;) like I said before, I felt that it was a pretty big fire in a very little amount of time... ;) but on the other hand, I can't really judge them... those feelings you have for your first love... especially if it ends abruptly... once you reconnect can resurface surprisingly quickly... ;) and to be honest there were moments when I really enjoyed watching how happy they were together :) they are both in their mid-thirties and it's actually adorable how much younger they feel and act when together ;)

Besides them, we have secondary characters as well, and I could probably go on and name a few of them, but they all pale in comparison with my favourite part of the book... ;) and that was... Katie :) she's Ireland best friend and I wanted to pull her out of this book soooo bad ;) I would absolutely love to have a bestie like her :) she was supportive and hilarious and just so much fun to read about :) I'm not gonna tell you more about her, but I am totally starting a movement, so she would get her own book... or at least a novella ;) it can be about her and her husband or pretty much anything... I'm gonna take whatever I can get ;)

Even though some things were moving a bit too quickly for my taste, I really enjoyed this story :) it's a second chance romance with a very surprising and unexpected twist... don't worry, I'm not gonna tell you what it's about, even though you can find it in the prologue... that pretty much broke my heart... but worry not, I wouldn't recommend you this book if it ended in tears, now would I? ;) the absolutely adorable epilogue is probably my favourite part of this book, you know... besides the awesomeness that is Katie of course ;) most of the book is told from Ireland's point of view, with a few chapters from Bentley's ;) the writing style of another brand new author to me, definitely made me curious about her other work, so that's another few books to be add to my #BookMountain ;) so if you are looking for a story that will make you laugh and tear up, with a beautiful ending and a great writing style... definitely give this lovely gem a try :)
