Random ramblings of a bookworm ;) #2

Who are #BookBesties
What is #BookMountain
How Maraea made me fall in love with hashtags

Hello my awesome people in the second post of what I hope will be my weekly series :) although there is a pretty good chance that it will happen, since I'm having sooooo much fun writing this and thinking about some ideas for future posts :) and I want to encourage you to let me know if you have your own ideas as well :) or questions for me :) this weekly posts are the best way for me to incorporate your opinions into my blog :) and the fastest way to contact me is definitely through the official fb page of my blog :) so if you have something you want to share, opinion, question, or if you just want to talk about books, let me know :)

This time I'm gonna start from the last part of the headlines :) first of all, I'm kind of technologically impaired... :) I won't go into more details now, cause it's a subject that will deserve its own "random ramblings" post in the future :) but I never used hashtags before, and now some of them are definitely a regular theme in my life ;) and it's all because of Maraea :) she's one of my #BookBesties (definition of that will be in the next paragraph) :) I met her some time ago in one of the fb groups that I am a part of... we started by commenting on the same posts, which led to longer conversations under said posts... which then led to the discovery that we love a lot of the same books :) after some time we became fb friends and ever since then, we have an on-going and never-ending conversation about books :) mainly because she lives half way around the world... literally :) time difference between her place and mine is 12 hours :) so usually it's like that: I write something, after some time she writes me back and we go back and forth between us :) I loooove talking with her about books :) we exchange recommendations and opinions, and my favourite part is when we talk about a book that we both already read ;) because then our conversations can be filled with spoilers :) I can't write you guys here how much I loved when for example he proposed surprisingly in the middle of the book or how pissed I was when she died :) but I can share that with her and we can rant or sigh together ;) and she is a huge fan of hashtags :) reading her comments always make me smile :) she's definitely a source of joy in my life :) and the more I was talking with her the more hashtags I was starting to use :) I mix and match them as much as I want but there are two that I love the most... :) and just like that we go back to the headlines and that first line... :)

Who are #BookBesties? :) I dedicate that term to all of you who talk with me about books :) to all of you who exchanged recommendations with me :) it's a very broad term for me, which include everyone I can talk about books with :) so of course my biggest and oldest #BookBestie is of course my sister, J :) I can't tell you how many times we talked in the middle of the night about books... and many other things :) my new, but very active #BookBestie is of course Maraea :) there is a huge possibility that she was the first to use that term and I just snatched it to use for myself :) but now I'm sharing it with you, so it's all good :) but basically if we talked about books this term probably made an appearance at some point of that conversation :) and I have to say that I cherish each and every one of that conversations :) so big hugs to all my #BookBesties :) can't wait to talk to you guys again :)

And now we can go to the last unexplained part of the headlines... what is #BookMountain? :) it's another term that started in one of my conversations with Maraea... again, I don't really remember who said it first... :) but we were talking about our never-ending lists of books to read... we were laughing about the size of the piles on our nightstands ;) literally and metaphorically, since a lot of our books are e-books ;) and at one point of that particular conversation we decided that "lists" are boring and "pile" is definitely not strong enough to convey the amount of books each of us have to read ;) and that's when the term #BookMountain was born :) now that I think about it, it may have been Maraea who said it first... hmm.... eh, it doesn't really matter ;) but we both agree that it sounds so much better and cooler than your regular "list" or "pile" :) and it definitely describes in the best way the amount of books we have to read :) so now when we recommend something to one another we always say "I'm just gonna add that book / series to the #BookMountain" :)

That's a wrap for today people :) I hope you enjoyed reading this post as much as I enjoyed writing it ;) and of course you're free to use the hashtags I wrote about here, and make up your own, cause I'm certainly doing it all the time :) maybe not as many as Maraea, but hey... I'm a newbie in the hashtags game and she's a professional ;) be sure to let me know what you think by leaving a comment here or showing some love on the fb page of my blog :) and I have to praise myself a bit ;) since I was such a good blogger <pats myself on the head> good brain... ;) I have already a few reviews written, edited and ready to post, so the next few weeks you'll get a "random ramblings" post on mondays, and then brand new reviews on wednesdays and fridays ;) plus all the usual quote / pictures on my fb page :) so much good things coming your way... :) before I go I just wanted to share with you a song that's been stuck in my head lately :) first of all, because it's another way for you guys to get to know me better and second of all, it's also my way of checking if I can post videos on my blog, cause I haven't done that before ;) hopefully everything will be working ;)

Books I can't wait to get my hands on ;) march edition

Yes, it's this time of the month again, when I share with you some of the books that I'm really looking forward to in the upcoming few weeks :) this time I have five of them, and there's a little bit of something for everyone... :) we have a historical romance, something with a sports theme and a contemporary romance that will probably make me cry... and let's not forget about some urban fantasy or a little somethin' somethin' for all the MM lovers out there ;) now that I have your attention let me tell you more... ;)

I think that the book I'm looking forward to the most is... "Hawke" by Sawyer Bennett, book #5 in her Cold Fury hockey series :) it's gonna be a contemporary sports themed romance :) I am a big fan of the previous books in this series, but the main couple in this one will be totally new characters, so I am very curious about them and how the story will go :) all books in this series can be read as standalones, but it definitely helps if you read them in order, cause the main characters from each stories appear in other books as well, so it would give you a bit of a background and make these appearances more meaningful :) I'm hoping for the same mix of fantastic writing style, great story telling, not to mention all the funny and sexy and just plain cute scenes like in the previous books, so the expectations are pretty high ;) I'll definitely let you know what I think as soon as I can get my hands on that one ;)

The second book I want to read, although I have mixed feelings about this one, is "Marked in flesh" by Anne Bishop, book #4 in her The others series... this one is an urban fantasy series with some paranormal elements in it and I honestly have to say that I'm afraid to read it... I absolutely loved the first book... then the second one was a pretty good sequel, but the third book... well... it kind of dragged a bit for me... there were a lot of subplots in it and I was hoping to get some more answers and for the story arch to move further along, and I didn't get either of that... so I am still curious about this book, cause I love the idea of that whole world, but I am also cautious with my expectations... we will see what comes out of it :)

The third book I am looking forward to is "The fire between high & lo" by Brittainy C. Cherry a contemporary romance, that I can pretty much guarantee is gonna make me cry... but don't worry and let me explain... :) it's book #2 in her Elements series, but they can be read as standalones, since the connection is with the elements (air, fire, water and earth) and not the characters :) actually book #1 in that series is the only other book written by her that I've read so far, but I absolutely loved it :) and yes, that one also made me cry... like a lot... she has a very unique and mesmerizing writing style that grabs you from the first chapter and doesn't let go... after finishing the previous book I needed a few days to just... think about it... I couldn't read anything else and that's one of the biggest compliments for an author... when their book have such an impact on a reader... I'm actually gonna leave you the link to my review of that book so you can see how touched by it I was -> here <- and now I look forward to another emotional journey :)

Another book I want to tell you about is "Us" by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy :) it's a sequel to "Him", a book that I have to admit, I haven't read yet :) but I am very close to finally doing it :) it's an MM story that I am very curious about, because I love books written individually by these lovely ladies so I can only imagine that them joining forces can result in only more awesomeness ;) and that's why I wanted to mention here a sequel of a book I have yet to read ;) all I know is that it's still the same couple, so we'll see what those two minds came up with ;)

The last one I want to tell you about is a historical romance... "Because of miss Bridgerton" by Julia Quinn, book #1 in the Rokesbys series :) it's a prequel story to one of my most beloved historical romance series of all time, Bridgertons :) and since I wasn't a huge fan of some of her other books, which is absolutely all right, since not all of them can be magical and perfect ;) I am actually very curious about this one... :) I am definitely not getting my hopes up too much but some part of me is absolutely counting on at least some of the magic that's been missing for me from some of her latest books... :)

Review: "The perfect play" by Jaci Burton

Author: Jaci Burton
Book 1 in series Play by play
Main characters: Michael "Mick" Riley and Tara Lincoln

My sister started this series before me, and after reading the first book she came to me and said that I will absolutely love it :) that it's fun and sexy and just a really good, relaxing read... and I have to say that she was absolutely right... again... damn it ;) it's a contemporary sports themed romance and even though we have glimpses of future main characters in this story, this book can be read as a standalone :) but let us dive into more details about our main couple ;)

Tara is an event planner, and has her own firm :) she is also a single mother to a teenage son :) but more about Nathan a bit later ;) she works hard to be a businesswoman and a good mom :) sometimes too hard, forgetting about herself in the process ;) but it's totally understandable, once you learn what kind of a life she had when she was younger... don't worry, I won't spoil you anything :) Mick is a professional quarterback and a star of his team :) he's smart, hot and just overall awesome :) but he also has some stuff in his past that changed him and made him who he is today... again, don't worry, no spoilers from me ;)

They meet at a party that her firm puts together for the team :) they have sparkling chemistry from the start, that leads to a one night stand... a steamy and very hot one night stand I have to add ;) at least she thinks of it that way :) he has other plans :) she fascinates him and he decides to pursue her more... :) she tries to dicourage him, but after seeing that her being a single mom and busy is not a problem for him, she agrees to give it a chance :) from the very start it's a smoking hot romance :) like seriously sizzling-makes-you-blush-do-not-read-in-public-places hot :) but there are also some surprisingly sweet scenes, especially once Mick meets Nathan :) I really loved the interactions between our main couple, how quickly they grew so close... :) and even though there is some drama near the end of the book... come on, we all know that something must go wrong before the happy ending ;) it was a truly fantastic read with a beautiful conclusion :)

Besides the main couple, who are totally awesome by the way ;) we have lots of equally awesome secondary characters :) we have Nathan, Tara's almost fifteen-year-old son :) he has his moody and worse moments, but all in all I really liked him... especially in a very cute scene with his mom near the end :) he also loves football, so he's a fan of the Tara-Mick relationship from the very start ;) and there is also Mick's whole family :) his younger brother, Gavin and their youngest sister, Jenna :) their stories are next in the series ;) not to mention their parents, an absolutely charming couple :) the love and connections between people in that family are a true delight to read :) they definitely add a great depth to the story :) and we can't forget about Elizabeth, Mick's agent :) she's drop dead gorgeous and wickedly smart :) she doesn't always make the best choices, but you can see why she will be a heroine in another book... ;) and once you read this one, you'll have a pretty good idea who will be the hero of that story ;) but shhh... I'm not saying another word ;)

I really loved this book :) it was written in an amazing style, and the best proof of that is that I was in the middle of the book before I even knew what was happening ;) it was funny and smart and so freaking sexy that I seriously advice you not to read it in public places because...just trust me on this ;) it was a great story with likable characters... I loved that they started from this insanely hot attraction between them and then it grew into something more... this absolutely adorable closeness and intimacy, when they trusted each other and shared their secrets... :) and I have to say that if other books written by Jaci Burton will be this good, you can count me as her new fan ;) so if you need a good read, without too much drama... a story that will melt your heart and make you blush... ;) with characters that you will cheer on from the start, look no further and give this one a try ;) it will be worth your time ;)

I have for you just a few quotes today ;) and believe me, not because those were the only ones I could find ;) there are much more in the book, but I didn't want to show you everything ;) so this is just a little encouragement for you to see what amazing stuff waits for you once you pick up the book ;) happy reading :)

Part of a conversation during their first night together ;) Mick first
"'I didn't bring you here to seduce you, Tara. I just wanted to spend more time with you.'
She covered his hands with hers. 'Maybe I'm seducing you. You wouldn't want to hurt my feelings, would you?'
His lips quirked. 'I'd never do that.'
'Then kiss me.'"

And another little glimpse into that night ;)
"He reached up and started pulling pins from her hair. She tilted her head back and lifted her lips.
'Determined to destroy my Cinderella image, aren't you?'
He dragged a pin from a golden strand and let it fall to the floor, then dove into the softness of her hair for another. 'You get any more beautiful and I might drop dead.'
She arched her brows. 'You're very good at that.'
'My sister liked having her hair put up.'
'No, not that. The lines.'"

And one of Tara's thoughts during that night ;) I can so relate to that ;)
"Tara dragged in breaths and let them out in rapid succession. Hyperventilating and passing out would be the most embarrassing thing she could do right now, but Mick's face was buried in her neck, and it was a serious erogenous zone. If he licked her there, she'd rob a bank for him."

Part of the conversation between Mick and Elizabeth ;) Elizabeth first
"'Shouldn't you be working out with your trainer or in bed with some hot woman? And if you are in bed with some hot model or actress, let me know when and where so I can send a photographer to get a pic, 'kay?'
He laughed. 'No. I need you to find a woman for me.'
'I'm appalled you think of me as your pimp, Mick. It's sort of true, but I'm appalled. Who is she?'"

Part of a conversation between Tara and Mick near the beginning ;) Mick first
"'Invite me over for dinner. We'll have pizza.'
'You don't strike me as the pizza type.'
'Then there's a lot you don't know about me.'
No doubt. 'That's not a good idea.'
He leaned in closer. God, he smelled good. Her hormones noticed.
'Invite me over for pizza.'
'Would you like to come over for dinner tonight, Mick?' Damn hormones.
His smile could melt a woman straight into the floorboards.
'I'd love to. Give me your address.'"

Random ramblings of a bookworm ;) #1

The idea
The explanation
Why I cried on "Deadpool"

Soooo... you are probably wondering what is going on... :) let me explain ;) lately I've been thinking about the amount of books I'm reading... because it vary a lot... ;) there are days when I can read a whole book in one sitting ;) but there are also days when it takes me a whole week to finish a book ;) and since I don't want to left you waiting for a new post for too long, an idea was born :) to be perfectly honest this particular idea have been wandering around my head for quite some time now ;) I just finally decided to act on it ;)

When I started this blog, the plan was to write mostly about books, but also about other things... the "books" part of my writing is going excellent... ;) some time ago I've fnally reached a point where I'm very satisfied with the way that I write my reviews, with just enough informations to interest you, but not too much so no spoilers here... :) plus some quotes to tease you a bit so you'll read the book sooner ;) but the "other stuff" part... well, I've been neglecting it for quite some time now... ;) and ever since january, when I celebrated the first anniversary of this blog... go me! :) I started to think about a way to remedy that situation :) and I finally got it :) so now to the explanation of the idea :)

I decided to write a weekly post :) "random ramblings of a bookworm" ;) the idea is to write and edit it on the weekend and post it every monday on my blog :) each post will have a headline as you can see it above, at the very beginning :) that headline will give you a quick look into what I'm gonna be writing about :) and it will give me a chance to write about pretty much everything that I want... :) sometimes it will be book related and sometimes not :) sometimes it will be a mix of a few things :) to be honest, I'm pretty excited about it, although I'm not sure if anyone will be interested in reading it ;) but I hope that since you like my reviews, otherwise you wouldn't be reading my blog ;) that you'll enjoy my ramblings as well ;) after all, my writing style is still the same ;) don't worry, you'll still get new reviews each week :) depending on the amount of books I read and subsequently the amount of reviews available at the time, it will be one or two new reviews each week :) not to mention that you can also find me on facebook :) I post there every day all this very cool quote / picture creations made by my awesome sister J, book updates about what I'm reading and other stuff :) it's also the fastest way to contact me if you have questions, opinions you'd like to share or just want to talk about books ;)

And since we have the idea and the explanation parts out of the way, let's talk about the last part of the headline ;) last week I went to see "Deadpool" on the big screen... you know, that R-rated movie that's been shattering all kinds of records in box office :) and it was soooo amazing :) you might be wondering now "since she loved it so much why the <cried> in the headline?" :) don't worry, even though I cry very easily on all sorts of movies, animated movies, tv shows... seriously, sometimes it's just ridiculous how easily I can burst into tears ;) I just keep telling myself that it just means that I'm sensitive and that's not a bad thing ;) but even though I get emotional very easily, this time it was tears of laughter :) because the movie was absolutely hilarious :) you may already know that about me, or not, it's ok either way :) but sarcastic humor is my favourite kind :) I love it in books and in movies :) I fall in love the quickest in characters with witty and sarcastic banter :) and Deadpool stole my heart from the very first scene :) and yes, it's an R-rated movie for a reason, but hey... I'm a big girl so it was not a problem for me ;) although I tried to restrain myself a bit, cause my sister claims that when I'm at the cinema I laugh like a muppet :) I'm too loud and draw too much attention to us... to be honest, it's totally true, I just don't really care ;) I had the best time so if you like the mix of sarcastic humor and kick-ass action, be sure to see it soon :) you won't regret it :) plus, how I could not loved a movie that advertised itself with these posters ;)

Ok my awesome people, that's a wrap for today :) I hope you enjoyed reading this at least half as much as I enjoyed writing it :) because it's been fun :) talk to you next week with another "ramblings" post... and later this week with new reviews... and every day on my fb page... ;) so basically you have a lot to choose from ;) be sure to let me know what you think, share and comment cause I love talking with you :)

Review: "Night play" by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Title: "Night play"
Book 5 in series Dark hunter
Main characters: Vane and Bride

Even though I use the term "dark hunter series" I mean by that the whole dark hunterverse, including dark hunters, were hunters, dream hunters and everything else you can think of ;) and this book was the first one with a were hunter as the main hero... and what a hero he was... ;) but before I dive into specifics, I will add, that even though it's a series, and I always recommend to you to read them in order, each book written by Sherrilyn Kenyon can be read as a standalone... well, you are definitely instantly curious about other books and characters, but you always get just enough informations to follow the story in each book :) which is very useful for someone like me, who jump between genres all the time and read so many books that it might result in forgetting certain details of the world, or the rules... ;) so don't worry, you won't feel lost ;) and now let us talk more about this book... ;)

Vane is a... well, I wanted to say that he's a Katagaria or a were hunter, but if you don't know the books, it won't tell you anything ;) so let's just say that he's a powerful creature that can take forms of both human and animal, and in his case it's a wolf :) because when I use the term "were hunters", and they don't like it very much so shhhh.... ;) it includes a lot of creatures... you would be surprised how many shape shifters can there be and how different they are from each other... but it's all explained very good in the book, so all you need to know is that Vane is a wolf in his animal form :) he's very powerful and have this alpha thing going on... <sigh> my favourite kind of a vibe... ;) I think that if I had to choose, and thankfully I don't... ;) but if I had to choose, shape shifters would be my favourite kind of paranormal creatures... I've always been a sucker for those sexy, dominant and protective guys... and Vane is no exception ;) he looks like a sin and makes you want to do bad things... with him, to him... whatever ;) he may be rough around the edges but that's one of the reasons why I loved him ;) and then we have Bride... she's totally human, and after a break-up with a sorry excuse for a guy... she's down to earth and is an owner of a store... she also have troubles with totally accepting the way she looks... cause she's a bit on the plus size... but I love how normal and fun she is... and how much more were hiding inside of her, that comes out before the book ends ;)

They met the day when Bride's boyfriend broke up with her... and all I can say to that is "congratulations Bride for not having to endure this kind of a jerk any more"... but it's always painful when you are rejected by someone that was suppose to love you and be there for you... so when this sinfully sexy guy comes into her store and sets his eyes on her, who can blame her for her reaction? ;) I'm certainly not judging her for a moment of fun with him in the dressing room... ;) cause I would also be like "yes to all" ;) but after what was supposed to be a "one time only thing" it turns out that Bride is his mate... and that means that he has three weeks to convince her to accept him or he will be unable to sleep with anyone else until she dies... ouch... ;) so there's plenty of heat and mutual attraction between them from the start... :) and even though he decides not to pursue her at first, because he doesn't want to put her in danger of living in his world with him, it doesn't take him long to change his mind when he gets to know her more... :)

Besides our main couple and their struggles ;) there is much more going on in this book... cause at the very beginning, Vane and his brother, Fang, are pretty much left for dead as a punishment for something that I won't even attempt to explain here now, because it would include spoilers from other books ;) but what I can say is that this particular event changed his brother from this playful guy into a wolf in a near comatose state... but don't worry, we get to see a ray of hope about him in this book and he gets his own story down the road, so he'll get his happy ending ;) so we got this whole other thing that I can't really discuss here, happening in the book, but I will concentrate on something that I can share with you ;) and that is their relationship :) I absolutely loved Bride's reaction when she finally found out about Vane and all that stuff ;) I mean, it wasn't done in an ideal way, cause she pretty much witnessed some shocking stuff without preparation, but the way she went into a bit of a shock and then claiming it's all a dream was a very believable reaction... I would freak out too if I was in her shoes ;) but after the initial shock I loved how she decided to give them a try... not immediately said "sure, you're a magical creature who can change into wolf and travel through time and space, so of course I will throw all my life away after knowing you for a couple of days to be together" ;) but she does give him a chance to show her how he is and how it would look like if they would be together :) and I absolutely loved it :) how both of them changed the other person... how they affected each other... <sigh> ;)

And let us not forget about secondary characters... ;) cause in her books they are always an awesome addition to the whole story and makes you that much curious about reading their own books ;) and let me tell you, there is one particular scene that made me laugh so hard I almost fell to the floor ;) because when a bunch of formal dark hunters, an eleven thousand-year-old warrior, a demon and a mouthy and sarcastic squire start to give dating advices to a shape shifter... it's something you don't want to miss ;) thankfully for Vane, their significant others showed up just in time to save him and his potential relationship with Bride ;) besides that, we get to know a lot more about the were hunters, different types of them and of course we get to meet many of them :) and that only adds depth to this already fascinating world that Sherrilyn Kenyon has created :) there is also a bit more about the main couple from the next book, because Bride is best friends with Tabitha :) and Valerius... well, he makes an appearance that started to change my mind about liking him ;) and let's not forget about Bride's family... they appear in only one scene, but they definitely leave an impression on you :) in the best possible way of course ;)

Ok, to be perfectly honest I love Sherrilyn Kenyon, and the more her books I read the deeper my love is... but I can't help it... well, it's not like I'm really trying anyway... ;) but her style of writing just "clicks" for me :) I love the sarcastic humor in her books, the swoonworthy and tortured characters and the fact that no matter how much bad things happen in a book, I know that there will be a happy ending for our main couple :) or at least that was the case so far... ;) and I'm hoping she will keep it up ;) and if you haven't seen it before, be sure to check out her website :) it's full of additional informations, pictures, book trailers and sooo much more... ;) it's the best author website I have ever seen ;) and it's just one more reason why I love her and count her as one of my favourite authors ;)

I really tried not to flood you with quotes this time people, but as you can see it didn't exactly worked... ;) but it was the best I could do... ;) and don't worry, there's much more of them in the book, but before you read it, enjoy these few ;) happy reading

Part of a conversation when Vane tells Bride why she should keep the necklace he wants to give her ;)
"Keep the necklace, please. It looks good on you, and I have no one else to give it to. I'm sure my brother wouldn't want it. He'd probably shove it someplace real uncomfortable if I gave it to him. And if he didn't, that would scare me even more."

Bride's reaction when she sees Vane naked... and I have to agree with her ;)
"It was all she could do not to drool. Or faint. Really, no mere mortal woman should be in the presence of someone this fine and not need oxygen."

Bride and her friends supporting her in the best possible way after a break up ;)
"Tabitha hugged her too and patted her on the back. 'Remember, if you need Taylor's kneecaps broken, I have just the tire iron and I won't ever tell the media who put me up to it.'
Bride laughed, grateful for her friends and their kindness to her in her hour of need. 'You're such a nut.'
'I'm serious, though. You change your mind, speed dial the number. I can be at his place in under twenty minutes.'
'Ha!' Mina said. 'With your driving? You'd be there in less than ten and that's with a flat tire going against traffic.'"

A beautiful part of a conversation between Vane and Acheron, the boss of all dark hunters ;) Vane first
"'What are you saying?'
'I think you already know. Will Bride have a better life without you? Who's to say? Maybe there is some human out there who can appreciate her. But will he ever appreciate her as much as you do?'
No. Vane knew it deep in his heart. Her tender touch was priceless to him."

When Bride is thinking about going to her ex to get her stuff back ;)
"If she did, she was taking Tabitha with her just for the sake of vengeance. And if Tabitha happened to bring a tire iron well, it wasn't as if Bride could keep her from it. It was a free country, after all. And if the tire iron ended up falling against Taylor's kneecaps a time or two or three dozen, well, accidents did happen."

Just a small part of that dating advice scene I mentioned before ;)
"'Julian, how did you meet your wife?'
Julian shrugged. 'My brother the sex god cursed me into a book for two thousand years. Grace got drunk on her birthday and summoned me out of it.'
Vane rolled his eyes. 'That's useless. Kyrian? What about you?'
'I woke up handcuffed to Amanda.'
Vane could work with that. 'So I need to get a set of handcuffs?'"

Part of a conversation between Bride and Vane ;) Vane first
"'If I keep smelling you, we might make a spectacle here tonight.'
'What kind of a spectacle?'
'I just might toss you over my shoulder and carry you out of here so that I can ravish you again.'
She laughed at the thought. 'Would you really?'
She saw the raw, ragged truth in his eyes. 'I would if you'd let me.'"

Another beautiful conversation between Bride and Vane a bit further down he road... <sigh> :)
"'Is this all there is between us, Vane? Just sex?'
He laid his cheek against hers in such a loving gesture that it tore through her heart. 'No, Bride. Sex is just the physical demonstration of what I feel for you.' He took her hand and led it to his heart where she felt it pounding against her palm. 'No one has ever touched me like you do. You're like a whisper. Gentle, soft. Soothing. In my world, the people only shout and scream. But you, you're my haven.'"

And the last one, a cute little scene with Bride's family about her ex ;)
"'I could kill him for her,' Fury offered.
Vane cleared his throat.
'Well, he could have an accident,' Fury tried again. 'Humans have those all the time.'
Patrick gave an evil laugh. 'I have a shovel.'
'Screw that,' Paul said before he sipped his wine. 'I have a gator in the backyard.'
They all laughed."

Review: "Branded" by Laura Wright

Author: Laura Wright
Title: "Branded"
Book 1 in series The Cavanaugh brothers
Main characters: Deacon Cavanaugh and Mackenzie "Mac" Byrd

This is the first book in a four-book series... and they are all already available if you can't stop reading after this one... cause there are some pretty big revelations at the very end... ;) because besides the romance between each couple in individual books, there is this bigger mystery about their dead sister... dun dun duuuunnnnnn.... but more about that in a moment :) for now let's just focus on this one, shall we? ;)

Mac is a foreman on the Triple C ranch... the very same ranch that belongs to Deacon's father... the one he left as soon as he could... she is hot-tempered and opinionated... she's also tough and fierce in protecting the ones she counts as her friends and family... plus, I can't help but love a girl who, and I quote "only begs if chocolate is involved" ;) now about Deacon... :) he's the oldest of the three brothers and a businessman... not to mention that he's very arrogant... cause there is confident... and then there's Deacon ;) he's ruthless and cold... or so it seems... ;) because let's not kid ourselves, in this types of books, there's always more to main characters than we think... ;)

She had a crush on him when they were younger and she was his sister's friend... but now it looks more like hate-passion... cause the hot feelings are still there, but now besides passion, there's also anger, so it's a pretty explosive mix ;) so when they are put together in the same place, things start to heat up ;) although I have to admit, that the change in him, at least for me, was a bit sudden... with her, I mostly get it... she had a crush on him years ago, and some of the feelings came back when he returned, but him...? I missed a bit more of an evolution of the character... but it's hard for me to stay mad at that, when he kept calling her darlin'... ;) you all know that this term of endearment... right alongside luv... and accents are my kryptonite in books... ;) I get all week in the knees and can't fight it ;)

Besides the romance story there is also this bigger mystery that will be solved throughout all four books that I mentioned before... who murdered their sister 12 years ago... in this book we can see entries from her diary and learn a bit more about her... I assume that in future books we will see more of them and then we will finally discover who did it...

We get to meet a lot of characters in this book... there are all of the brothers, who grew apart after that horrible tragedy... now they came back together for the funeral of their father... and believe me, all of the unresolved issues came with them... there were a few moments when I was asking myself "what the hell happened in that house?!?" and the short answer is... a lot of terrible things... and to avoid spoilers let me just say, that I can't blame them for running away from there the moment they were able to do that... besides the brothers we also get to meet some of the future heroines... and I am very curious just how some of those couples will get together ;)

The book starts a bit slow, introducing everyone, but when they are finally in one place and the interactions start... well, then it gets better ;) so stick to it :) although this whole book feels like a big introduction to this series and all the characters :) I haven't read other books yet, but my sister did, and J says that this first one is actually the worst one of them all, and that they just keep getting better ;) so I will definitely give them a try ;) because they were written pretty good... even though I had one thing that made me shiver every time I read it... and not in a good way ;) let me just say this... the word "cream" should never... ever... be used in a sex scene, unless we're talking about "whipped cream" ;) but all in all it wasn't bad and I do want to see other brothers get their own happy endings and the mystery of the murder finally solved... so at some point I will go back and finish this series :)

I have for you a few quotes to show you what is waiting for you inside the book ;) happy reading

Dedication ;)
"To you, my readers. Save a horse and ride a cowboy."

Interaction between Deacon and Mac at the beginning ;)
"'What do you want, Deacon?' she muttered irritably.
'I heard you yelling all the way down the hall,' he said. 'How's a man supposed to get any sleep with all that racket?'
She snorted. 'If I see a man I'll ask him.'"

A little bit of Deacon :)
"'Whether you believe it or not, I'm not looking to destroy you, Mackenzie. Beautiful works of art should never be destroyed.' Deacon realized what he'd said one second after it was out of his mouth. Where the hell did that come from? he mentally growled. Not from any rational or reasonable place he knew of. Shit, that was Hallmark card, romantic bullshit territory. He didn't deliver that kind of slop to women."

Part of a conversation between Deacon and Mac a bit further in the book ;) Deacon first
"'That's not how I remember dares.'
She pointed the fence stretcher at him. 'That's because you're old.'
His eyes widened.
She broke out laughing. 'Yup. And sorry to inform you, but memory's the first thing to go.'"

And the last one with our main couple ;)
"'I was too old for you then, of course,' he said. 'But I always admired the way you handled yourself. How strong and brave and fearless you were.'
She didn't buy it for a minute. 'If I remember correctly, you thought I was a pain in the ass and a bad influence on your sister.'
His eyes danced with heat and amusement. 'But a strong, fearless pain in the ass.'"

Review: "Dark witch" by Nora Roberts

Author: Nora Roberts
Title: "Dark witch"
Book 1 in series Cousins O'Dwyer
Main characters: Boyle McGrath and Iona Sheehan

I have to say that I have surprisingly little reviews on my blog of books written by Nora Roberts... which is quite weird to me, since I've read most of her books... seriously, the number reaches above a hundred... :) that includes both, books published under "Nora Roberts" and the In death series written under a pseudonym :) and I am a huge fan of her writing style, the way she creates stories, characters and connections between them... the only reason why I have so very little reviews of those books on my blog, is because I've read the majority of them before I started it :) I am planning on doing more "flashback reviews" about them, but since I read a lot, I am busy writing current reviews for you, but I am gonna work on that, because she is absolutely amazing and you all should know more about her books :) to those of you who are completely new to my term of "flashback review" here's the link to the one I did about another Nora Roberts series, it's all explained it that post :) so you can check it out -> here <- whenever you want :) now let's go into more details about the book that this review is really about, shall we? ;)

Iona is originally from America, but she moves to Ireland to meet her family there :) I will share with you a more detailed reason in a moment ;) she sells pretty much everything she owns, and follows her grandmother advice... she's this petite little person, with a blond pixie cut... so no wonder she is compared to a fairy more than once in a book :) she's very open and easy going, which is quite an accomplishment when you learn more about her and see that she didn't have as much love and family growing up as she should have... but I think my most favourite quality of hers is that she's babbling a lot when she's nervous... it's quite adorable ;) Boyle on the other hand is quite the opposite... big, kind of man of a few words... :) he owns the stables that she starts working in :) he's definitely more calm and stoic, but he has his moments... ;)

Now about those details I promised you before... :) first, a bit of an explanation about the whole series :) it's a trilogy, and each book will focus on one couple, but there is a much bigger thing going on besides the romance :) what I love about Nora Roberts books is that she has this amazing ability to combine this sort of a contemporary romance genre with a bit of magic... or sometimes a bit more, like in this case :) so this book starts with a prologue-ish part that takes place in the year 1263... I know, but stay with me, cause there is magick involved... and no, that is not a typo :) "k" is there on purpose ;) so, at the beginning we learn the story about a Dark Witch and her three children... and it does not end well... I have to admit that it actually brought me to tears... but it's a story that also involves an evil sorcerer... so basically, without spoiling too many details, we know that we will have the descendants of those three kids in the books :) and they are gonna fight the evil sorcerer who plotted his revenge and want to steal their powers... that's pretty much all I can say about it ;) and if you are wondering why the series has an O'Dwyer name in the title and yet none of the main characters here have it, so who is the descendant... well, the answer to that is of course Iona :) she comes to Ireland knowing the stories, knowing they are true and wanting to find her cousins :) and about them... ;)

Let's dive into the secondary characters in the book... although I'm not really sure if you can call them that ;) usually in Nora Roberts trilogies we meet most, if not all, of the characters in the first book :) and the same can be said in this case... so even though each book tells the story of a different couple coming together, the rest of them are a huge and important part of all of them :) so we have Iona's cousins, Branna and Connor O'Dwyer :) there is also Meara and Fin :) and he has a magickal connection of his own, but I won't spoil you anything by saying it here :) usually in my reviews this is the place where I tell you a bit more about them, but since they will be main characters and will get their own reviews, I'm gonna leave out most of the details ;) all I can and will say is that they are a different bunch, but I absolutely adore and love all of them and cannot wait to read their stories :) and I cannot forget about the animals... all three children, as well as their descendants, have a unique bond with a specific animal... I don't want to say too much about it, cause it's much more satisfying to learn it as you read, but I am gonna say that we are talking about a dog, a hawk and a horse :)

I am a huge Nora Roberts fan, and this book definitely delivered... :) I am curious about what's gonna come next but since she never disappointed me before, I'm not worried :) plus, my sister J already read all three of the books and she said they were awesome so I know there will be a good and satisiyng ending to all of that :) she read it some time ago and has been relentlessly convincing me to finally read it too... and lately she was so succesful that not only did I started it, she almost re-read it too ;) it was a great mix of romane and world building... we got a fantastic introduction to all our key players and the story definitely left me wanting more :) but don't get me wrong, our main couple got their happy ending ;) she has the most amazing ability to incorporate this more magickal and paranormal elements into her stories :) and her writing style is wonderful... it makes you fall into the book and doesn't let you go until you finish it ;)

I have just a few quotes for you today... :) mostly because the ones I really wanted to use were too spoilerific, and the other ones were definitely too long ;) there is this really amazing banter between our main six characters, but I can't just put here whole pages from the book :) so you'll just have to believe me, that there is much more awesomeness where these few examples came from ;) happy reading :)

Part of  the first conversations between Iona and Connor, when she visits him and Branna in the morning ;) Connor first
"'Good morning to you. You must be cousin Iona from the States.'
'Yes, I...'
'Welcome home.' She found herself enfolded in a big, hard hug that lifted her up to the toes of her boots. 'I'd be Connor, if you're wondering. Come in out of the cold. Winter's still got its teeth in us.'
'Thanks. I know it's early.'
'That it is. The day will insist on starting that way.'"

Part of a conversation between Iona and Boyle... ;) he can seem harsh at times but it all comes from a place of care ;) Boyle first
"'That's my mobile. If you get nervous, ring me up. Better you ring Branna, but I'm just minutes away if it comes to that.'
'That's... That's so kind.'
'Don't get watery about it. I've just hired you, haven't I, and done the bloody paperwork. I can't have you running back to America. Lock the door and go to bed. Switch on the telly if you need the noise.'
He walked to the door, opened it. 'And remember,' he said, looking back at her. 'You can hold a flame of your own making in the palm of your hand.'
He shut the door. Even as she started to smile, he rapped hard enough to make her jump.
'Lock the bloody door!'"

Part of a conversation between Iona and Branna :)
"The delight carried her out of the workshop and into the kitchen, where she threw her arms around Branna for a spin.
'Well, then, I see groping with Boyle's given you a fine burst of energy.'
'It was a really good groping. He asked me out, in his Boyle way. <We'll go have dinner sometime.>'
'Christ Jesus!' Eyes wide, hand flying to her heart, Branna goggled. 'It's all but a proposal of marriage.'
Too happy to be dampened, Iona laughed. 'It's a big step up from grunting at me.'"

Review: "Stars above" by Marissa Meyer

Author: Marissa Meyer
Set of nine novellas from series The Lunar chronicles
Main characters: well... about that ;)

Ok, first a few words of explanation ;) this is a compilation of nine novellas, four of them published before and five brand new :) they are all set in the fantastic world created by Marissa Meyer and offer us additional glimpses into the lives of sooo many characters that I couldn't possibly name them all in just one line above :) but don't worry, I will let you know something more about all of the stories ;) and know for the second part of the explanation... since these novellas come from many different times, some of them before the events in the first book and some of them after the last one, there is no way for me to tell you more without some major spoilers :) so if you are completely new to this series I would like to point you to my review of the last book, which is in fact a spoiler free review of the whole series, that you can find -> here <- :) read it first, and then once you read the series you can come back here and read this review... or, you know, if it's not a problem for you to know some major plot twists before reading the actual books then by all means, keep reading ;) I'm just gonna use the names of the characters without bigger explanations who are they, because I'm assuming all of you who stayed with me know who I am talking about ;) and if you don't know but still want to read this review, just read my review of the whole series that I left a few lines above for you first, cause I introduce all main characters there ;) and then come back to this one :)

Ok, you've been warned people, so let us dive into more details about each of the nine stories :) with some major SPOILERS :) ok, I promise it was the last warning :) I will know proceed to the actual review ;) so here are the stories, in the order from the book :)
  • "The keeper" -> new story :) it's about Scarlet and her grandmother :) we get to see how and why Scarlet came to live with her... it also shows how and why her grandmother helped with hiding princess Selene, or how I'm gonna call her from now on... Cinder :) told you there were gonna be spoilers ;) I really enjoyed learning more about Scarlet's grandmother and her life... it was a very nice surprise to see a bit of her past here :)
  • "Glitches" -> available before :) it's about how Cinder came to live with her adpotive family... how it all started... plus it show us the beginning of Iko, one of the best secondary characters in this series ;) I mean, who wouldn't love an android who pretends to faint, even though it's physically impossible for her? ;) but here we see just the first glimpse of her :)
  • "The queen's army" -> available before :) this is a story about Wolf... how he became queen's soldier, how he was taken from his family as a young boy, how they changed him physically and mentally, how he trained for years... it was heartbreaking to read, but I loved to see this glimpse inside his life, because it showed me why he is the way he is now... he may be my favourite hero in this series... well, to be honest it goes back and forth between him and Carswell, it changes depending on my mood of the day ;)
  • "Carswell's guide to being lucky" -> available before :) and speaking about the infamous Captain... ;) here we get a glimpse of his childhood... a proof that he was charming and clever way before we met him for the first time ;) he can talk his way practically out of everything ;)
  • "After sunshine passes by" -> new story :) this one is about young Cress, showing us how she got on the satellite where we met her first :) it's a glimpse into the life she lived before, and what's gonna be her life until she meet other major characters in this series ;)
  • "The princess and the guard" -> new story :) it's a look over the years at Winter and Jacin... it starts way before when they were just young kids and then follow them throughout years after... how they stayed friends, how it slowly changed into something more... even though none of them admitted it out loud... it also shows how Winter got her scars...
  • "The little android" -> available before :) this is the first short story ever that made me cry... it's about all new characters in this series... I mean Cinder appears here for a short scene, but nothing more... the focus is on someone different... I don't want to say anything more, just that it was a beautiful, although sad and emotional story that made me appreciate that much more how wonderful writer Marissa Meyer is... how talented to make me care so much about characters I just met...
  • "The mechanic" -> new story :) it's a look on the first meeting between Cinder and Kai but from his perspective :) it was a very cool bonus to see what was going inside of his head when he met Cinder at the market... ;)
  • "Something old, something new" -> new story :) this is like the second epilogue to the whole series... it takes place two years after the end of the last book :) as the title suggest, there is a wedding... even though I was guessing it would be between Winter and Jacin or Cinder and Kai, it's actually between Scarlet and Wolf :) all eight main characters of this series come together to celebrate :) it was probably the cutest, most adorable story of them all :) I won't share any more details here, but I enjoyed it immensly :)
I have to say that I absolutely adored these glimpses into the lives of the characters I came to love throughout the series :) and even though not all of them were happy and cheerful, and some of them even very emotional... they all gave me this additional depth into the characters I loved before :) they were all written in an exceptional style... and I have to admit that I'm already used to it from Marissa Meyer... to be honest, it's something that I start to expect from her books, and she did not disappointed me so far :) the only little thing that I was missing, was the more detailed conclusion to Winter and Jacin's story... all other three couples got their happy endings... and they just... sort of... I don't know... for me it's just lacking some details :) I would like to know more... how is Winter handling her gift... are they officially together... there are so many more things I would love to know... :) but it's just one tiny thing, that absolutely does not diminish the fact that these stories were a fantastic read :) I recommend it as a beautiful addition to an already amazing series :)

Review: "Kiss of the night" by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Book 4 in series Dark hunter
Main characters: Wulf and Cassandra

Before I start my actual review, I feel the need to say that Sherrilyn Kenyon is one of my favourite authors :) I love her style of writing... it just "clicks" for me ;) that's why some things that may annoy me in other books, doesn't bother me in hers ;) and I can totally understand when some people say that they don't like her books, or something like that... we all have a right to our own opinions, and I just happen to love her ;) so usually all my reviews show this love ;) but what can I say? her sarcastic humor and tortured heroes just work for me ;) I'm not gonna apologize for that ;) you've been warned ;) and it definitely doesn't hurt that her website is THE BEST author website I have ever seen :) it's full of additional informations, book trailers and more... every time I'm there, I discover something new... ;) and now let us jump to the actual review ;)

Before I tell you more about the book, let me start with something about the whole series and that world in general... :) when I say dark hunter world or series I mean the whole dark hunterverse with dark hunters, were hunters, dream hunters and everything in between ;) and believe me... there are a lot of possibilities ;) I am only on book 4 now and already there is soooo much information... :) but don't worry, she writes all her books in a way that you get all the necessary info to understand the book you are reading, even if it's the first one in this series that you have in your hands... but I do encourage you to read them in order, because sometimes they overlap each other and same characters appear in more than one of them... not to mention that you can definitely see a growth and change in some of the characters throughout more than one book and it's just more rewarding when you read them in order :)

Ok, so now let me tell you more about our main couple :) we have Wulf, the dark hunter... although he didn't exactly chose to be one, like most of them did... he was tricked into it by a woman... don't worry, I won't say more, so no spoilers from me ;) all of them have different powers and abilities and stuff, and what is the most characteristic for him, is that no one remembers him... well, there are some exceptions, but most people forget him when they leave him... so he keeps his distance, and I can't really blame him for that... he's also a great warrior, like all dark hunters... and we have Cassandra, a half human half appolite, who is hunted by pretty much everyone... which is a shame since her death will bring the end of the world as we know it... I kid you not... it's true :) she's smart and brave, and have some fighting skills of her own... and the way she does her best to live her life to the fullest, knowing that she will die on the day of her twenty-seventh birthday is amazing... I'm not gonna go into more details why she has to die, let me just say that it involves a curse from a god, cast upon all appolites years and years ago... don't worry, it's all explained really well in the book :)

They meet when he helps her while she's attacked in a bar with her bodyguard, Kat... and immediately sparks fly... but nothing more happens between them... until that very night, when they have sex in their dreams... ok, to be honest I am perfectly aware of how all that sounds... but stay with me ;) after that, things escalate pretty quickly... and by that I mean all the danger that she's in... and Wulf is designated by Acheron, the boss of all dark hunters (it's the shortest possible way of describing him, because believe me... he has a long and complicated and very mysterious story of his own) to guard her... and I can't say anything more without spoiling you some pretty surprising twists and turns ;) but what I can say is that their relationship is actually very sweet... :) even though they are supposed to be enemies, this sort of thinking goes out the window pretty quickly... and from then, it's actually very cute how they are together... so most of the drama in the book is actually outside of the main couple... cause the whole situation seems pretty impossible to overcome... I was really curious how Sherrilyn Kenyon will be able to give them their own happy ending... :) but she delivered as always ;)

Besides the main couple we have as always a bunch of secondary characters as well ;) so there's Kat, Cassandra's bodyguard... who may or may not be more than she seems at first sight ;) but I can't tell you more... ;) there are also a few characters that surprised me along the way, but I can't tell you more about them either, so I won't spoil you the book if you haven't read it before... :) we also have an appearance of all the previous heroes, but when and why I can't tell you that... :) I am truly sorry for being so secretive, but there is really no way for me of saying anything without spoilers, so I'm gonna shut up now ;) all I can and will say, is that the secondary characters, as always, add another awesome layer to the already great book :) and there is definitely some potential for future main characters here... but I can say that about every book in this series... ;) which only makes me more curious about future stories ;)

I always have the same problem with writing reviews of her books... how to convince you how awesome they are without spoiling you anything if you don't know the books yet... ;) so I will say this... if you love sarcastic dialogues and witty banter... cause I do ;) if you adore cute epilogues and always fall for the tortured and yet emotional and swoonworthy heroes... ;) and if you love kick-ass heroines, Sherrilyn Kenyon should be your go-to author :) and this book is no exception :) and adding to all that, I absolutely loved how in this book we got to know so much more about the dark hunter world... because if you thought that all daimons are bad and all appolites are evil, think again... there is soooo much we didn't know... and I've got a feeling that there is a bunch of stuff I have yet to discover in future books about all of them... I hope you'll forgive me for not explaining some of the terms I'm using here, because if you know the books, you know what I'm talking about, and if you don't know the books, the amount of space it would take me to describe you everything would be much longer than this review ;) so just trust me on it and try the books ;) you won't regret it :)

I have a few quotes for you to show you why I love her style of writing and interactions between characters so much... and trust me... there is much more of that in the book ;) happy reading :)

A little glimpse at Wulf at the beginning of the book ;)
"While the Dark-hunter was distracted, the Daimon holding her moved the gun from her temple and fired four shots into him. The Dark-Hunter turned very slowly toward them.
Fury descending over his face, he glared at the Daimon who had shot him. 'Have you no honor? No decency? No damn brains? You don't kill me with bullets. You just piss me off.'"

Part of a conversation between Wulf and Cassandra near the beginning ;) Cassandra first
"'I don't have to stay here.'
'Yes you do.'
She gave him an arch look. 'I don't think so, and unless you take that anger out of your voice when you speak to me, all you're going to see is my heinie as it goes out that door.' She pointed to the front door.
The smile he gave her was wicked and cold. 'Have you ever tried to run from a Viking? There's a damned good reason why the western Europeans wet themselves whenever our names were mentioned.'
His words made her shiver. 'You wouldn't dare.'
'Feel free to try me.'"

Something between Acheron and Wulf ;) Acheron first
"'Sometimes things have to go wrong in order to go right.'
'What do you mean?'
'You'll see one day, little brother. I promise.'
Wulf ground his teeth. 'I really hate it when you play Oracle.'
'I know. All of you do. But what can I say? It's my job to annoy you.'
'I think you should find a new occupation.'
'Why? I happen to enjoy the one I have.'"

A little sass from Cassandra in her conversation with Wulf ;)
"Cassandra cocked a brow at his wardrobe as they walked through the closet. Everything from the hanging items to every pair of shoes lacked color. It looked like a great black hole.
'Like black, do you?'
One corner of his mouth quirked up. 'It serves its purpose. It's hard to look intimidating in pastels.'"

Part of a conversation between Talon and Zarek, heroes from previous books, in a situation I can't tell you more about ;)
"'If you hate it here so much,' Talon asked, 'why did you agree to come?'
In a subtle gesture of flipping Talon off, Zarek scratched his eyebrow with his middle finger, which was covered with a long, sharp metallic claw. 'Astrid wants me to make friends. I don't know why. Some weird woman thing. She's trying to make me more sociable.'"

Review: "Sacked" by Jen Frederick

Author: Jen Frederick
Title: "Sacked"
Book 1 in series Gridiron
Main characters: Knox Masters and Eliot "Ellie" Campbell

I found this book through goodreads recommendations :) and when I read in some of the comments that if you liked Game on series or Off-campus series you're gonna like this one, I knew I had to try it :) cause I looooved both of them ;) and it turned out to be quite good ;) it's a new adult sports themed romance, so there is some angst and stuff that could be resolved if the characters actually would talk honestly with each other ;) but let us dive into a bit more details, shall we? ;)

Knox, our hero, is this football star on campus with great prospects of playing in the NFL :) he's smart, handsome... and by handsome I mean unbelievably hot ;) and he's really charming too :) not in a player-who-gets-all-the-ladies kind of a way, but more in this determined-yet-not-sure-how-to-do-it way :) although to be honest he could pretty much get any girl on campus without even trying ;) and did I mentioned that he's a virgin... ? ;) no...? ;) after dropping that little bomb on you let us move on to Ellie :) she's new on campus :) her brother is on the football team and their parents are awful... like really... awful... I would use other words but I have a "no cursing" rule in my reviews ;) she's keeping a pretty big secret... she's helping her brother pass some of the classes without his knowledge... and have been doing that for years, since she suspects that he has a learning disability but refuse to be tested... it is of course a more complicated situation than what I just described, but I don't want to spoil you too many details :)

Now about the chemistry and the relationship between main characters... ;) Knox knows... from the moment he meets her, he "knows" ;) he just knows that she's the one for him... that she's different and is just... sorry, but for me this kind of certainty is a bit too much too fast... :) or maybe it's just that today my more cynical side is louder ;) and hey, I can't deny that they do have chemistry from the start ;) and I do love that she wasn't fawning all over him just because his a star football player... like pretty much most of the girls do around him ;) she actually doesn't really want to have anything to do with him at first, because of that secret that I mentioned before :) but he's pretty determined and relentless in pursuing her, so she finally caves... and who can blame her? ;) if I would have this kind of a guy charming my pants off I would probably cave too ;) and I would probably do it much faster... ;)

Besides the main characters, we meet a lot of other people... and since this is just book #1 in a brand new series I can't wait to know whose story will be next :) because let me tell you... there are many interesting possibilities ;) we have Riley, Ellie's awesome roommate :) and I'm really curious who she will end up with :) there's Ty, Knox's twin brother :) because one funny and sexy football player just wasn't enough :) not to mention all of Knox's teammates, and that includes Ellie's brother :) I would like to read a story about so many of them... believe me, there are just too many for me to mention each and every one of them by name here ;) but I will say that the scene when his teammates learn how important Ellie is for Knox and that he needs a plan to win her over... is one of my favourite in the whole book :) it's hilarious and "aaawww" all in one ;)

I really enjoyed this book... maybe not as much as I did Game on series or Off-campus series, but it was a pretty good read... could I use some more info about certain people and events that shaped our main characters? sure :) would I be happier with a bit less angst and drama that could have been resolved wih an honest conversation early on? definitely :) did I felt that the resolution of the whole situation near the end of the book was a bit rushed? maybe a little :) but the writing style was really good and I definitely enjoyed the two perspectives, cause it's always a plus for me in a book... :) the ability to see things and events from both main characters points of view ;) it was a good book... like upper-middle good ;) maybe not one of those drop-everything-you-are-doing-cause-you-have-to-read-it-NOW books, but there aren't many of those around ;) and I'm sure that some of you will read it and it will instantly became one of your go-to book to re-read over and over again :) and some of you will start it and never finish it, cause it just won't interest you :) and that's ok, because we are all allowed to have different opinions :) I shared mine here, and what is yours? :)

I have some quotes for you to show you what awaits you, if you decide to give this one a try because hey... it was a pretty good book ;) I would put more, but some of them was too spoilerific ;) happy reading ;)

Part of the first conversation between Knox and Ellie :) Knox first
"'Running these steps is good for my heart. As a bonus it sweats the stupid out of me.' I wink but then realize I'm wearing my aviators and trucker hat so that action is for nothing. For the best, really. Winking can be a douchebag move at times.
'Do you have a lot of stupid to sweat out?' She holds back a laugh.
I grin back. 'It regenerates every day.'"

Part of a conversation between Ellie and her roommate Riley ;)
"'Riles, I got you,' I call as I kick the door shut.
She nearly squeals with glee when I hand her the coffee.
'You are a goddess. I knew you were exactly the right roommate for me when your response to my Craigslist ad was that you made a mean cup of coffee.' I open my mouth to confess that the best I know how to do is operate a Keurig, but she waves me off. 'I know you lied. It's enough that you understood that coffee is an essential part of the day.'"

A little scene between Knox, Ellie and Riley :) after Knox kisses Ellie in a bookstore ;)
"'We're in a bookstore,' I say in a scandalized voice.
'You've never kissed a guy in a bookstore before?' He grins, the wicked mischievous grin I'm beginning to associate with something tremendously naughty. 'There's a first time for everything.'
Riley's face pokes itself around the end of the bookcase. 'Is it safe to come into the True Crime section? Because I saw some mauling going on and ran for safety.'"

When Knox won Riley to his side in a bookstore ;)
"He shakes Riley's hand. 'Nice to meet you.'
'You guys look like you had an intense conversation.' She smirks.
'Ellie and I are discussing where she's taking me on our first date. I hope it's not to that dog movie. I swear he'll die at the end and then I'll sob like a fucking baby. Nearly had to walk out of Bridge to Terabithia. That shit is not good for my image.'
Just like that, Riley's pants get charmed off."

And one more with Ellie and Riley ;)
"Thankfully Riley doesn't say another word... until we exit the bookstore. 'So when is the wedding?'
'What are you talking about?'
'You said you would marry the first guy who hit on you at the bookstore.'
'Riley, you are not funny. Not at all.'
'Really? I'm feeling pretty hilarious.'"

A little something about Knox and the support of his teammates ;)
"'Men. Can we get on subject here?' Matty waves his hand toward my bent head. 'Masters asked me for texting advice. The girl is turning him down.'
The amount of disbelief in Matty's voice is heavier than the sledgehammer in the weight room. Memo to self: do not bring up women around the team again. Have I hassled these guys when they had chick problems? I squeeze the back of my neck. Maybe. Oh shit, probably.
'Maybe she's got a boyfriend already,' Jesse offers.
'We can take him out,' Matty replies immediately.
'Like how? Kill him?' I say sarcastically.
'Nah. But maybe maim.' Matty shrugs. I can't tell if he's serious or not."

How Ellie describes Knox... the best and most nerdy description of a guy I read... like ever ;)
"I haven't been reasonable or completely honest. If I'm honest, I'll admit that Knox Masters is exactly the type of guy I want to date. He dominates a sport I love. He's confident but not arrogant. He's funny, able to laugh at himself, and... shit, hot as the fires of Mordor. I mean, the One Ring could be forged in his hotness."
