Title: "How to catch an heiress"
Book 1 in series Heiress
Main characters: Anthony Carter and Elizabeth "Liz" Rockwell
Anthony Carter has not had it easy in life. In a matter of months, he lost his mother to cancer along with his much coveted spot in a prestigious doctoral program. Swimming in debt, he's been forced to move back to his hometown in rural Montana and take whatever job he can find. A drunken weekend in Vegas is exactly what he needs to help him forget his problems.
A recent break-up with her boyfriend of nearly a decade has left straight-laced Liz Rockwell disillusioned with love and in desperate need of a vacation. She gets more than she bargained for when one drunken night at a Vegas bar results in her being married to Anthony. Embarrassed by her lapse in judgment, Liz is ready to make this whole night just go away. A quickie divorce seems like the best solution to their problem, until Anthony realizes who Liz really is.
Known in the media as the Candy Heiress, billionaire Liz is the answer to Anthony’s prayers. All he has to do is convince her to write him a check. Unfortunately, Liz is not one to be easily intimated or coerced. Discovering the Rockwell family secret may be Anthony’s only hope. But the more time he spends with the intelligent and tenacious Liz, the more he realizes their chapel wedding may not have been such a drunken mistake after all...
I had the opportunity to read the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review and I have to say, I’m surprised by how much I enjoyed it ;) although „surprising” is the best word in general to describe this debut novel ;) I stopped counting very quickly all the times when this book took a turn I wasn’t expecting or resolved a situation in a different way that I thought it would happen ;) and don’t get me wrong, I am saying that as a compliment ;) it’s not often when a story surprises me so many times ;) so how about I will tell you a bit more about it... ;)
Let’s start with our main couple, Liz and Anthony ;) *sighs* and at the very beginning I have to say, theirs is a very... well, peculiar relationship... if you can even call it that ;) let me explain... or at least let me try to explain without spoiling you everything that happens in the book ;) sooooo... Liz is an attorney, but besides that, she is also a part of a very wealthy family... but better not call her a „trust fund baby”... ;) when her friends stood her up during a girls weekend in Vegas, she met Anthony in a hotel bar and they immediately hit it off ;) so much in fact, that when they woke up the next morning, barely remembering the night before, they realized they actually got married ;) yep, your regular wild-night-in-Vegas married ;) they parted ways with a mutual agreement to put all of that behind them and take care of it as soon as possible... it is a few days later when Anthony actually discovers who exactly he married that the plot thickens... ;) because Anthony has some money problems... can you see where I’m going with it? ;) but before you all get judgy and mad, trust me, it’s not as bad as it sounds ;) do they have a rocky start? yeah... that’s to weak word to describe it ;) but it’s one of those totally surprising things about this book ;) on paper it sounds pretty horrible, a guy wanting money in exchange for a divorce / annulment... believe me, I was sceptical as well ;) until I actually read the book, which turned out quite good ;) I don’t want to say too much and ruin all those surprises, but... what I can say is that I actually enjoyed their story very much ;) it was definitely different, a sort of slow burn romance that happened unexpectedly between them... ;)
Besides the main couple there were quite a few secondary characters that absolutely kept stealing my attention ;) I can see sooooo much potential for future books about them ;) and I am more than happy that it’s already official that book #2 will be about Charlotte, one of Liz’s friends ;) she was such a fun and unpredictable character ;) I am looking forward to getting to know her better and reading about her adventures ;) not to mention that whole Liz’s family was... oh they were something else all right... ;) most of them I would not like to have related to me, but there were some exceptions ;) I will leave you to discover for yourselves who exactly I’m talking about ;)
All in all I really enjoyed this book ;) it was written in two perspectives, so we got chapters from Liz’s as well as Anthony’s point of view ;) and I have to say that the writing style in general was really good, especially if you take into consideration that this is a debut novel ;) besides, trust me... I am way too busy right now to be reading mediocre books... I am definitely much more picky than I was a few months ago ;) like I mentioned earlier, what I really liked in this book is how unpredictable it was... I seriously stopped guessing where things are going pretty soon, because I kept being wrong, and who likes that? ;) so if you are looking for a little bit different contemporary romance, with the best nerdy compliments ever... ;) then definitely give this story a try ;)

Natalie can't sing. Or dance. Or play an instrument. She can't ride a bike and doesn't know how to swim or drive. As a result, her husband often asks "Are you sure you're not really from Mars?" (the answer, in case you were wondering, is no. Unless New York counts as another planet). When she's not geeking out at her day job, Natalie can be found attempting to wrangle her overly energetic Westie, baking ridiculously chewy chocolate chip cookies, and watching so-bad-it's-good reality television shows.
