Release blitz + Review: "Sugar rush" by Sawyer Bennett

Author: Sawyer Bennett
Title: "Sugar rush"
Book 2 in series Sugar bowl
Main characters: Beckett "Beck" North and Sela Halstead

After posing as an escort for the Sugar Bowl online dating service, Sela Halstead is looking for one thing: payback. She's closing in on the site's heartless founder, Jonathon Townsend, and she needs Beckett North, Townsend's business partner and her lover, by her side. She'd thought that their intimate nights together had forged an unbreakable bond, but after a shocking betrayal, Sela begins to doubt the brilliant bad boy. When push comes to shove, can she trust Beck to do the right thing?

Now that he understands the truth, Beck will stop at nothing to secure the reckoning Sela deserves. But between his desire for her and his disgust for JT, Beck doesn't exactly have a lot of control over his emotional state. Left with no other choice, he must summon all his discipline to maintain JT's trust and pretend that they're still friends. But how far will Beck go to prove his loyalty to Sela? He nearly lost her once. To keep her, Beck might have to kill for her.

I got my hands on the ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review and I couldn't be more happy about it :) because after the cliffhanger of that first book... the wait was really long ;) but before I really get into my review, I need to explain something :) Sugar bowl is a trilogy that tells the story of one couple... so I have no way of telling you about the sequel without spoiling you stuff from the first book :) so if you are brand new to this series, just stop reading now, because I will be spoiling some pretty important things from that first book, including that horrible cliffhanger... seriously people, back away... ;)

I'm gonna start with a little recap of the story... because I don't know about you, but with the amount of books I'm reading, I had to go back and remind myself what the first book was about... :) it's definitely a darker story, so don't be fooled by those pretty covers... Sela was drugged and raped ten years ago by three men... unfortunately, since she doesn't remember many details about that night, the perpetrators were never captured... that situation changes a few months ago, when she recognizes one of them on TV because of his tattoo... that is the moment when she comes up with her revenge plan... to get close to him and ultimately kill him... but few months later, the night where she wants to "accidentally" bump into JT, she meets his business partner, Beck... and soon after that, everything starts to change... :) she and Beck grow closer, get to know one another, and feelings get involved... ok people, now it's your very last WARNING :) I am starting the spoilery part of my review and there will be no going back... :)

So that first book ended on a major cliffhanger... after Beck found her snooping around his office... and we all know how big trust / honesty issues he have... he dragged her out of the apartment and told her it's over between them... even after her last attempt to get him to hear her explanation and confessing that it's because JT raped her, he doesn't believe her and slams the door shut in her face... that ending broke my heart when I first read it, but fortunately for me... that situation is resolved very quickly in this installment... it doesn't take long for Beck to start using his head, instead of being blinded by rage, and figuring out that Sela was telling the truth... after that he goes after her... :) and I was extremely happy about that, because originally I was afraid that this whole second part will be about them coming back together... but that was sooo not the case :) instead this is the part when there are finally no secrets between them... *sighs* you have no idea how happy all that honesty made me :) because now they are a team, figuring out how to best take care of everything... and that is all I can say about the second book without spoiling you stuff about it :)

I really loved this book :) it's a bit on the shorter side so I inhaled it in one evening... and if you guys think that the first book ended on a cliffhanger... think again :) because at the end of this one we not only have a huge revelation that almost made me hyperventilate because I gasped in shock so hard ;) but it ends with a mother of all cliffhangers... :) you will be counting down the hours to the release day of that conclusion in october... I'm just warning you, be prepared :) where the first book is a great introduction to the story and the characters, and I enjoyed it a lot, I loved the sequel even more :) because here there was finally total honesty between Sela and Beck, and I am not a fan of secrets :) not only that, but we also get to know one very interesting new character :) Dennis, a PI Beck hired to help them take down JT :) in this book we again have 2 POVs, and you all should know by now how much I love it in books :) the writing style is phenomenal as usual, but that's something I'm expecting at this point from Sawyer Bennett and she has yet to disappoint me :) you are thrown right into action from the very first chapter, and you are absolutely glued to the pages until the very end, when after howling in despair about that cliffhanger ;) you are left absolutely in awe of the story :) I cannot wait to see how it will all end :)

She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.
