Release blitz + Giveaway + Review: "The after of us" by S. R. Grey

Author: S. R. Grey
Book 4 in series Judge me not
Main characters: Will Gartner and Emma Metzger

Ok people, let me get a few things straight :) I received the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review and after finishing it I gave it 3,5 stars on Goodreads :) well, initially it was a full 4 but after sleeping on it I had to change it... and by the way, if you don't know it yet, I'm on Goodreads :) send me a friend request -> bookworm8619blog <- if you want to be #GoodreadsBesties ;) I am slowly updating my profile with books, reviews and so on but I'm getting closer to finishing that every day ;) so if you are interested in star ratings and so on, go check it out, cause here on my blog, I mainly concentrate on my feelings and thoughts about the book :) now about this one... :) don't worry, if you haven't read the previous ones :) the first three books in this series are actually about Chase, Will's older brother :) this one can be read as a standalone, and as a person who is totally new to this series and this author, I haven't felt like my reading experience was worse because I don't know Will's history... it's definitely mentioned here and there, but not knowing every little detail doesn't diminish your experience :) now let me tell you a bit more about this book :)

I'm gonna start with a little something about the main characters :) Will is fresh out of college, on his way to a fancy New York job :) that is until his ex shows up unexpectedly with a daughter he never knew he had... so he and his five-year-old pixie are heading to Harmony Creek where his brother and his family lives, to figure things out :) that is where he sees Emma again :) and I say again, cause they met about six or seven years ago on Chase's wedding :) I'm not sure if that scene was in previous books but it happened :) Emma is now working in kindergarten and there are still sparks between them :) both of them definitely have their own issues with commitment and abandonment but they work through it... although to be honest it really bugged me sometimes when Emma was pushing Will to make some decisions like "right now"... maybe it bothered me that much because I hate when people do that to me... I loathe being pressured into making rushed decisions and doing stuff because someone thinks I should... if I say that I need time it means I really need that time to figure stuff out... :) there were a few moments when I needed to remind myself that they are both very young, so maybe some angst and misscommunications between them were happening because of that... :)

Don't get me wrong, it was a good book :) it definitely started very promising for me, cause I liked the writing style and the fact that the book had two perspectives :) and you know how big of a fan I am of that :) but the more I got into the book the more I felt like the story was rushed... I wanted to know more about them and how they got together... so instead of reading something like "for the next few weeks they spent more and more time together" I would like to actually read about that time with more details... ;) and even though the actual story takes place over a few months of time, I had problems with getting attached to them as a couple, mainly because of the lack of details... this book is not very long and it unexpectedly ended on like 85% because there was also a sneak peak at another book at the end of it, so I was just reading and suddenly there was epilogue and the end... I am definitely curious about the history between Chase and his wife Kay, but it's not my top priority :) I want to blame the lenght of the book for most of my problems with it, but to be honest I read similarly short novels recently that I absolutely loved, so the number of pages is definitely not the problem ;) but be sure to remember, this is just my opinion :) you might read this book and fall in love with it ;) it might even be one of your all time faves :) you never know :) so if it interests or intrigues you, definitely give it a try :) like I said, it was a pretty good book :)
